After our amazing come back on Tuesday night, all of a sudden everyone is expecting us to hammer Crawley.

This expectation worries me slightly. We haven't hammered anyone, in fact we haven't beaten anyone in the league by more than 1 goal.

We're the top scorers in the league with JAG as our forwards, but we also have the second worst defence in the league. I'm sorry but until that last stat changes we aren't going to be beating anyone comfortably.

Crawley lost their last game but befor that were in good form, picking up 10 points from 4 games.

I think we'll edge this one. 2-1

I'd love us to hammer someone, but I've been waiting all season so I don't think that'll change this weekend. Like you say, Crawley seem to have found some form and will make it difficult for us, but I think we've enough to pick up the 3 points.

I'm not even going to try and pick our team, plenty of attacking/midfield options, though I'm not complaining. I do reckon Jabo and Gilliead will start.

I wouldn't be surprised if Curle decide to set us up to defend deep and nick a win... simply because as you say, everyone will expect us to come out full of confidence and take the game to them and Curle seems to thrive on doing the last thing anyone expects of him.

I do not expect to hammer Crawley because we're 0-2 down before we start.

What I am hoping is that we just 'have a good go' and go from the start of game. Play a similar side to 2nd half Vs Luton, a team using most of our attack players and allow Jabo, Asamoah, Gilliead freedom to move and attack as they wish.

If we do that it throws the game at Crawley and if they can defend it and get them breaks then fair play to them, but least we can say we didn't mess about and Crawley deserve it for their defending.

We seem to take far to long to grow into games, its as if we have to be 1 goal down before we then decide to give our players freedom to express themselves.

if we do want to play this way and grab top7 place we need to be playing the offence from the start, if we want a caution built approach then we need a different set of players as these do not suit it. So I hope we just go for the throat first minute.

The weather forecast isn't too good at the moment. Is this game likely to be affected? I see you were underwater the other week.
Much as I'd like to come, the cost is just too much and we don't have enough interest to run a coach.
Anyway, back to the game, we've only not scored in one away game this season, so I would expect us to score.
Can we keep you out though? We have a new on-loan RB, Josh Emmanuel from Ipswich, and he'll join our other Josh from Ipswich; Yorwerth(CB).
Josh Yorwerth is going to be a very good player and is I think destined to play at a much higher level.
I hope it's a good game and that our 95 fans enjoy it!

Was underwater because we had the highest rainfall in the country, but the pitch was good enough to play a midweek youth cup game even before last weekend's game. Doesn't look like that level of rain tonight.

This could actually be a really good game for the neutral, got to be expecting plenty of goals and some good football from us too - not sure about Crawley's style of play. Hopefully Jabo gets on the scoresheet again to get a run going again, struggle to see Asamoah and Gilliead - who is actually turning out to be a really accomplished finisher - not getting a chance or two each either. Our front three has to be one of the best in the league now I would guess, Asamoah and Gilliead are lightning quick and Jabo is an excellent target man and all three are really good at finishing as we saw against Luton. I'd like us to go with an actual 4-3-3, get the ball to the wide men who can either cut inside and shoot or give it to Jabo.

Gillespie
Miller Atkinson Raynes Grainger
Hery Dicker Kennedy
Gilliead Ibehre Asamoah

4-2 to us.

I insist the thread title name is changed to Jabo v Crawley!
What about GIA vs Crawley?

As in our version of BBC (Bale Benzema Cristiano) or MSN (Messi Suarez Neymar)

What a fucking heroic man. If he doesn't score 53 goals against Crawley then something must be up.

Great game, could've scored more than three in all honesty. The early goal gave the whole team a lift, and bar a couple of spells for Crawley I thought we were in control.

Very good team performance, not one player had a bad game. It was a shame Gilliead lost the ball for their goal as he had a brilliant game - he played a part in all of our goals. Wyke was deservedly man of the match in my opinion, worked tirelessly and took his goals well. Also, I thought Sweeney had one of his best performances for us.

That's our first comfortable win of the season at last!

6th in the league and we've got matches coming up against a few of the teams above us so it's gonna be a big test.

Good times! :woo:

We have so many quality attacking players it beggars belief. I mean we didn't even have Hallam Hope available and could still muster up four forwards on top form. Our defensive performance today shouldn't be overlooked, Crawley didn't offer much bit Raynes and Ellis lord mopped up most of what they did. My man of the match though was Jason Kennedy who was imperious in the centre today, won everything.

Ellis still worries me. His distribution is terrible, he's not the strongest physically and gets beaten quite a lot (the total opposite to Raynes who won everything), he constantly gets caught in bad positions and goes marauding out of defence & diving in to challenges in midfield.

I may have been drunk and over enthused by a two goal win when i wrote that. You're right about Ellis, he still has faults and I'd like to see Troy in there, who also poses a goal threat from set pieces. Sticking with what I said about Kennedy though.

Couldn't make the game but by all accounts nor could my team (we didn't show up).
Fair play to Carlisle. You can only beat what's in front of you and the appear to have done that very well.

Can't believe the official away following of 185, surely that can't be right if they didn't have enough interest to run an official coach.

Didn't look like almost 200 in fairness, about 6 rows towards the top were a third-full.

I forgot to mention that I was quite impressed with Crawley's away fans, seem to bring a decent following for a club of their size and they did make a fair bit of noise at times considering they were loosing, well done!

It's good to see, not like last season when top of the league Burton came up here and beat us 4-3 and their fans didn't make a single noise. Pathetic!
