As we approach the window, who needs what for the second half of the season?

Our season has been marred by the fact we don't score enough goals, so naturally a goalscoring striker would be a must if we have any hope of an exciting second half to the season. There's plenty of players at Championship clubs who would do a good job in this league but aren't getting a game for their club for various reasons, so I imagine we could see a fair amount of decent looking loan deals coming into the league from above.

On the other side of things, we do have a few who just aren't getting a look in/aren't up to it. Ndjoli can go back to Bournemouth having achieved nothing apart from being the only man to score winning goals against Wycombe in the League this season, and I wouldn't be surprised if Ouss Cisse was released - Alfie Jones is 10 times the player. We have plenty of midfielders, although with Byrne out for the season we may see one come in of a similar nature - Pringle might actually get a chance though, which would be great if he can get up to former speed.

The FA Cup money will come in handy, and even though we're highly unlikely to actually pay for someone, we could see a few dealings here and there - wouldn't be a Steve Evans transfer window without some business being done!

Easy one for us, 2 strikers, 1 creative midfielder and a pacey left mid

I would like us to sign a 24 year old Cody McDonald on a four year deal.

We need to be scoring more goals so it's the top end of the pitch for us, even more so with Andrade out for another couple of months.

As a squad, we've pretty much got two per postion bar CB and ST. I imagine Connolly will go back to Everton and maybe Melbourne back to WBA to create a couple of loan spaces (and in the latters case, Coker is fit now so he's not really needed).

January is a difficult one, though. We could probably shed two or three others because they're not quite good enough or not Appleton's type of players but you've got to get decent replacements in as well!

If we can get a CM, a couple of wingers (one already signed up) and a striker (maybe two) then that'd be ok.

hmmm, can't spend money on players, can't spend money on loans, only have 1 free loan player to use, existing loan players can only sign for 6 months, so have to go back in January, oh and the only players we can sign are free and we can't pay them above a certain level...so in short, haven't a feckin clue :)

An experienced centre half who can organise and a (relatively) prolific striker are a must for us.

We are ok in general play in the middle third of the pitch. However, we concede too many sloppy goals, particularly from set plays, and don't have a convincing striker other than Morgan Ferrier, and even he has not got a great goalscoring record at this level.

Like everyone, we need more goals. We also need a central defender who can stay fit (McShane, McNulty and loanee Magloire all missing on Monday night, leading to Norrington-Davies having to play out of position.)

I see elsewhere on the forum that there's "trouble at 'mill" at Fleetwood, with certain players out of favour. I've always rated Ashley Hunter and Ashley Eastham did a decent job in his previous spell with us (both at defending and staying fit).

As for players out - both Sanchez and Norrington-Davies have been excellent, so might be recalled. Camps, Matheson, Morley and O'Connell could be the subject of offers in January.

We'll see - but Dunphy as chairman filled me with confidence; Bottomless as CEO has (whilst not yet at the Day/Smurthwaite/whatever-idiot-is-in-charge-of-Macclesfield-these-days level) has the PR appeal of an Austin Allegro Vanden Plas (in dog-turd brown) and the ego of a Mastermind champion (in particular Gary Grant from c. 2012)

I think that you can make a case for us needing half a dozen additions, but I'd like to see a younger central midfielder supplementing the ageing trio of Perkins, Danns and Potter.

Me too, but we have got Banks, Gilmour and potentially McCullough to return in that position.

We can't possibly afford to strengthen in every area and I think the most urgent need is up front and in the centre of defence.

Our problem is that we have a squad full of decent/good players but no first eleven stand out.
If our fans were asked to pick their team I suspect everybody would have very different line ups.

Iverson, Ihiekwe, Wiles and maybe Lindsay would probably be the players on most peoples team sheet but after that injuries and inconsistency have blighted everyone else's season so far.

We could really do with a younger version of Richard Wood at the back and an experienced central midfielder to organise what is a fairly young side.

I had hoped we would have a chance of getting Will Vaulks back on loan from Cardiff because under Warnock he wasn't playing.
We miss his aggression, his determination and especially his long throw. Trouble is Neil Harris seems to rate him so that's probably gone now.

We could have Morris, Hastie and Iverson recalled in January so we might need to replace some or all of them.

I think we are in a decent position to say we have been good away and mostly terrible at home so Tony Stewart might throw a bit of cash at it if Rob Scott (recruitment) has identified what we need.

TBH I just wish we could at least get our home form turned around, because at the minute only 10% of our fans see any decent football and it's putting pressure on Paul Warne because an increasing number of the remaining 90% are losing patience and slowly turning against him.

Creative midfielder and hold-up striker would be nice but mostly we need to not have Forss recalled by Brentford. Without him, we're below-average relegation fodder. With him, we might still have chance.

Paul Lambert to pick one team and stick with it. Otherwise a striker who knows where the goal is. Fairly solid other than that

I know everyone wants more goals and strikers, but one of the things I've noticed about this league more than any other season I've been watching Lincoln (unless I've just not noticed previously) is the amount of teams who don't score many goals. Half the division are only in and around a goal a game.

The new obsession at this level is trying to be a possession based side rather than a winning one for some reason. No surprise that Wycombe are top of the league when they chuck it in the box at every opportunity rather than fannying around.

A new right back.

On top of that, Robinson wants 2 wingers (with pace I'd assume based on his previous comments), a left back as cover and another midfielder (with Ben Woodburn breaking his other foot). Of course, hopefully no key players go out but if the rumours are true, then at least Rob Dickie could be going so we'd need to replace him and any others as well.

Apparently, from the Fans Forum, we have 2 loans agreed already. And separately we are after a permanent transfer for the right back but have agreement with the clubs for 2 possible loan players and looking at another as well for that position.

I reckon Rob Hall could be available from us as well as Jack Stevens (keeper) being available on loan if we sign Archer until the end of the season. Don't know about Mark Sykes as he was really good against Man City but has been inconsistent so could go out on loan but I doubt it.

Edit: Oh, if he gets fit in time then I reckon Jamie Hanson will be available for a loan.

We've certainly gone that way from day 1 of the season. It's so frustrating to watch at times.
Against Tranmere, last week, we had one or the other wide player in about 20 yards of space every time got the ball. Probably 1 in 5 we got it there quickly, the other 4 we crabbed it across the back 4 and midfield 2 or 3 times to then find there was little or fuck all on for us. Nothing wrong with keeping the ball, but FFS try and do something with it!

So if it's 4.10 for the squad, can I have Humphrys and Dieng (who've both shown signs of ability at other clubs) for 37p... :)

This is going to sound anal, for a fan of a mid table team, but I don't think we need anyone.
I'm happy with the squad, albeit a small one.. Just need more consistency and a clinical finish in games.
Reality is we are not going to attract marquee signings so may as well stick with the kids and freebies we have.

I think we at Gills hear you. We have a decent side now that is playing for each other, very hard to beat , has some quality and is starting to put together some very decent results. Only 1 defeat in the last 10 now.

We could definitely do with a clinical finisher, but seeing as we can't afford one that would make too much difference, we may as well persevere with the youngsters and freebies that are doing well for us. Definitely improving week by week.

Mind you, we have Steve Evans in charge. He might bring in a ton of new players, we don't know.

From your comments in the match thread about the Burton game, sounds like you’re coming around to my way of thinking about the midfield?

If Banks and Gilmour are not available any time soon, then yes. I thought Danns and Perkins would be able to stumble on until the end of the season, but there are real signs that Perkins is coming to the end now, sadly.
