Any Bristol City fans about? Rumors have started to spread that City aren't going to offer JET a new deal and that Birmingham are interested in him. The rumors were started after an article was released by one of the papers in Bristol (I'm unsure as to which one) which was then followed up by an article in the Birmingham Mail. I don't know how much truth there is to this but I'm interested to see whether we pursue it. Bristol fans, would you like to see him sign a new deal? What's he like if we do happen to sign him? I've seen him play quite a few times but feel it would be better to get it from a Bristol City fan.

He always looked like he *could* do something for us, but he didn't apply himself. He's done well for himself at City but the general consensus from Town fans is that he perhaps found his level at League One.

Majority of city fans are gutted he's gone (which is now confirmed btw)

Technically superb, can tear defences apart on his day.. Just doesn't appear to be our managers type of player. Probably due to his "lazy style of play" yeah he doesn't track back as much as he should, or use his height to his advantage.. But could definitely do a job in the championship.

Genuinely gutted. Probably the most talented player I've ever seen at Ashton Gate. He would win games on his own when he was in the mood. The 4th and 5th goals on Saturday summed him up completely - skins a player for an assist and then scores from nothing.

Best of luck JET, you'll get one hell of a reception when you come back.

Bold part is the problem, 'his day' doesn't come around as often as it needs to really considering he's probably one of, if not our highest earner. Seeing everyone say they're gutted JET is leaving for a player who has been on the bench most of the season, only 2/3 players I would be gutted to see leave City - Flint, Freeman and Bryan, but even then I accept that's the nature of football.

Most City fans acknowledge JET doesn't really fit our system, he doesn't fit what Cotterill seems to want upfront and he can't play Freeman's role in the way we require. While he's a talent he's a luxury we can't afford when looking to do well next season in the championship imo.

So with JET, Elliott and Richards having left with a couple of youth players, there could be enough there to try and fund the wages of definitely 1 and maybe 2 players wages for next season.

All the above rings so many bells. I think he has the ability to be fantastic. But having the ability and applying yourself consistently are two different things.

JET lack of consistency was a complete and utter myth for us. His scoring and assisting record was fantastic.

My thoughts exactly. I am a tad dissapointed to see him go, as he can do things that no other can in this league and probably the league above. However, when it comes to the 'team' his style doesn't really suit. We like to press from the front, and that's not for him.A tad dissapointed Wade wasn't offered a deal too, although he'll still be around if he accepts a coaching role. I don't see why he should, Still has plenty to offer.

He scored most of his goals in a time when we lost a lot of matches, yes he would score goals, but his lack of overall contribution could be seen as something that contributed to us losing. Is it a coincidence that when Cotterill came in and turned things around it was then Baldock who scored most the goals?

Who's Daniel Powell - something to do with the Boy Scouts?

I'm a JET fan - best opposition player I've seen for a while

Completely agree.

How a club like Bristol City can turn down a player the quality of JET is beyond me.

This has really taken the edge off of the euphoria of the past few days.

Really?! Before we even see what Cotterill and co do this summer recruitment wise? I will have an opinion once I see how Cotterill has used JET's wages when bringing in players. For all we know releasing JET will allow us to use the wages to bring in someone who turns out to be our player of the season next year for all we know.

Um I believe JET scored a similar amount to Agard and a lot more than Freeman in about a third of the time this season.

Best season in 60 years, and a squad player (that's all he has been) leaves and its put a downer on it? Wow!

Yep I agree with this guy. When Stephen Gleeson left us for Birmingham City on a free transfer last summer, we all thought the club would end but a certain Dele Alli came through the ranks and Karl Robinson brought in Samir Carruthers and Lewis Baker from Aston Villa and Chelsea respectively too...oh and he signed Mark Randall :err:

Comparing him to Freeman is ridiculous. They play in different positions. I'm sure we can all agree that we'd have Freeman over JET everyday of the week. How many penalties has JET taken this season? That makes his goal tally look more impressive. I'm surprised at how down some city fans are over this. Yes it's dissapointing but a bit of perspective is needed. We won the league at a canter, and while JET has been a part of it, I'd hardly say he was instrumental in it.

Yep, just counted myself and apparently you won by 8 points and 1 goal. Lucky, lucky Bristol City.

Well we've predominantly played with Donaldson up front on his own this season. If we was to sign him, the vibe I’m getting from you guys is that he certainly isn’t a lone striker?

No not at all, its hard to even say he's a striker. He comes short to get the ball, he'll hang out wide to get the ball ( creates a lot doing this). Can't really remember him scoring from 6 yards out. Probably best playing just behind the striker, without having the responsibility of tracking back. I'm interested to see how he'll do in the Championship after a two year break.

If he does at all tbh, could easily see him signing for a bigger league 1 to be a big fish in a small pond environment.

Yes really.

We are a very mediocre football club, and will without doubt be a small fish in a very big pond next season. How a club such as City can look down their noses at a player with the ability and talent that JET has is quite simply staggering.

Don't get me wrong, I think Cotts has done a fantastic job, and I can only thank him for the great season we have enjoyed. But when it comes to JET, I think he's got it completely wrong.
