Well does he mean decent lower league players relative to the shocking amount very average ones get in the Championship and Premier league?

Joey's done well out of football. Never the most gifted technically, but a decent enough player. Who I'd hazard a guess has done well for himself picking up his wages at the top level.
There is, as alluded to above; a lot of players in the Premier League who are earning mega-money salaries when their ability doesn't match up. Not that I think anyone should be earning £150,000 a week.
As I understand it even League Two players are still earning a decent living for the standard. I know we were paying our players £400 a week back in our division 4 days (Granted we had the largest wage bill in that league) in the late 80's/early 90's. What that equated to in today's money with inflation, I'd guess would be at least double. Still £400 a week back then was way above the national average wage. Hell! It's more than I earn a week now, 25 years on! So not a bad wage to kick a bag of wind about.
All in all, yes the wages paid to the top stars is eye watering, but those players even in the lower leagues really cannot have much to grumble about compared to their long suffering fans income.
