No surprise there really. Even when in better health, results indicated that the job was too much for him. Not formally sacked - more the "mutual consent" line.
I wish the guy well. I think he's missing a trick. In marketing and PR I believe he would be an asset to many clubs - but doesn't seem cut out for the day to day rigours of team management. If he recovers well from his heart surgery, I reckon he should consider taking his career in the PR direction - possibly part-time if his health isn't 100%.
Looking forward, I reckon Dean Saunders has earned a crack at the job but may be put off by the low playing budget.

Yeah. I did notice, but not until after I chose my name. Red encased in double D's - bliss! :)

I would seriously worry if they are considering Saunders, the impression I got from the brief and awful spell he had with us was that he really had no idea!

Crawley fans seem to rate Saunders, biggest mistake he ever made was leaving Wrexham.

By rating Saunders, all we can really say is that he's better than Gregory - but so is my grandmother and she's been dead 30 years.
So far, Saunders has been saddled with a poor squad that was assembled by Gregory. Since coming in, he made a few decent loan signings that improved the team and very nearly got us out of an impossible situation. For the most part he got the players fighting for the cause. If Gregory had remained in charge, our relegation could easily have been confirmed before Yeovil's.
I would be happy for Saunders to have some time at the helm. Apart from that, we probably can't afford any better.

The better news is that Paul Groves has also gone along with 3 other backroom staff. http://www.crawleytownfc.com/news/article/crawley-town-2449057.aspx
I agree with JR though that Gregory going is good news. Nice bloke but best management days a long way behind him.
As for Saunders, I think I said on here previously that he seems best cut out for managing smaller clubs, and you can't get much smaller than us. Hope he stays but lack of a big enough budget may mean he moves on.
Now more optimistic than pessimistic for next season but will reserve final judgement until early August.
