I love a London away day. Stay somewhere interesting for as long as possible and then get the train to where you need to get to.

He's been terrible for most of the season, complete liability. Uncomfortable with the ball at his feet and positionally poor.

Really surprised at that. He was majestic with the ball at his feet for us and I'd go as far as to say he's one of the big reasons we got promoted. He really was superb. Not as good in league 1 but was starting to adapt before he left.

Any club coming down from league 1 better be careful, very easy to fall straight through if you aren't careful.

Clubs like Carlisle & Vale shouldn't just assume they'll be promotion contenders.

I reckon Fleetwood could be in danger of falling back out of the football league next year.

We came down with Barnet back in 2018 so would be nice to see them coming back up with us the same year. They’ve been the 2nd best side all year consistency wise, hence their position, so they do deserve it but obviously the NL play offs is an even bigger lottery than the EFL ones really considering 6 teams involved. They’re a really attacking side and players like Kabamba, Kanu, Freeman, Stead etc would cause problems for a lot of sides at this level if they do make it up.

I don’t want to see Bromley, Solihull, Gateshead or Halifax (their fans seem to hate us for some reason so fuck em + we rarely beat them ) up, so guess I’m in the Barnet, Alty, Aldershot, Southend (outside chance) camp. Regardless, I can’t wait to finally be able to watch these NL play offs with my feet up, beer in hand, knowing whatever happens doesn’t matter as we’ve already done it.

It strikes me that there's only really Bradford who regularly get 15k+ but even their budget is hampered by their ground situation. Finally, a league that might actually be decided through skill and coaching rather than Bank balance. How sport should be.

See I'm a tight bastard and I hate an expensive day out but when I went to tick off a few grounds in London in January that I hadn't done I stumbled across this great pub just down the road from Brentford's ground that was doing pints of Guinness for below a fiver in West London of all places!

You really can find some amazing pubs in London but the ones doing cheap ale are few and far between. Unfortunately, the pub selection around Barnet's ground is utter shite plus it just doesn't feel like a football ground either.

I much preferred Underhill, even if I saw us play most the game with 9 men there on my only visit!

Wouldn't mind if Bromley went up though, new ground and hopefully find a hidden gem of a pub round that way.

There are rarely sides getting 10k+ at this level let alone 15k+

If you are averaging above or even close to 10k you are doing fantastic on that side of things.

I think Colchester will go well, Cowley's football is bloody horrible and frustrating to play against , but very effective lower down .

I don’t think it will.

They’ve achieved little since their lucky run with lincoln and that type of football isn’t sustainable for a playoff push, plus it’s enough to make your eyes bleed.

Appreciate colchester fans probably don’t have high expectations but bloody bell that’s a painful watch.

There's a tendency to associate the Cowleys purely with the grim but effective stuff their Lincoln side played. However, the Braintree side they managed before played some great football and keeping Huddersfield up was a good achievement.

Aside from the fake injuries, which a few other sides have adopted to break-up play or tactically reset, I thought Colchester played a reasonable quality of football in the draw at PP. Now that their primary goal of securing L2 football looks close to confirmation, it will be interesting to see how the squad is re-shaped over the summer.

He isn’t good enough for league one and hasn’t been for a few seasons hence why he isn’t playing there but yeah you must be correct watching him in the conference

Chesterfield will be playoffs minimum next season so long as they buy a couple of centre backs.

Grimes and Palmer lack of pace/agility will get shown up at this level in certain games, we had to phase Tozer out for same reason and have looked a lot better for it. Rest of the team I expect to be more than capable in L2 and they have an experienced promotion manager almost as good as Challinor and Parky. Looking at the team list for next season there's nothing here to fear for them IMO, they've come up at the right time.

He looked quite rusty when he started with us to be honest. I actually thought we'd signed a finished dud on a 3 year deal. Once he got going though, scored a couple and found his stride he was fine and proved me very wrong. His ability to find tap ins so consistently is vital for us, and he's certainly been missed since injured. His little movements are very clever. I'm not sure what the last year of that deal will look like but for now he's sound, just what we need

I think it will be quite high as the owners are willing to put 1-1.5 million in each season going by the accounts to top it up , i think the cup money effectively meant they didn't have to prop the budget up for 1 season .

We have a load of dross (or never play ) on long contracts - including your ex man Vernam .


It will be interesting to see our ST prices , if the rise is equivalent to last year it will be over £400 for an adult , seems a hard sell after this season .

Maybe you will do better next season with Alexander being able to recruit his own players .

I think if you look at the players we have contracted for next season it's not as bad as a lot of people are making out.

Hopefully we get more minutes out of Vernam next season, his injury proneness was a risk, we all knew that when we signed him. Keep him fit and he's a quality player at this level.

That Braintree team did indeed play some nice football but they were also horrible to play against. Took us over 300 minutes and well into the second half of the second leg of a playoff semi before we scored past them in 2015/16 and that was a penalty for a shirt pull!

Mullin was top scorer in L2 in 20/21 so that should be little surprise. Be interesting to see if he can make the step up now though.

You'd expect with the service he will likely get he should be. He has been pretty lucky there, Hoolahan and then Maclean pinging balls into him!
