I don't mind Gillingham second kit. Like a Maidenhead kit that's been left out in the sun.

Not a fan of the other two, that third one is vile.

3 good kits from us this season, not 100% on the fade on the black and white stripes but other than that we've got 3 kit designs which are a little bit different to the norm, not template, and not just the same kit 3 times in different colours.

Pretty simple kit, but also quite like it. Very clean, and I like the bits of blue.

First kit - boring, should have a proper collar instead of a standard round neck.
Away kit - much better, simple with a twist.
Third kit - looks like a goal keepers top, collar is horrible

Ultimately though, the sponsor really wrecks any chance of a nice kit. I don’t mind being sponsored by Poundland, it’s a great deal for the club and a talking point, but why it stretches from arm pit to arm pit is beyond me.

I like that, but I hope that's not what our home kit is gonna be purely because it's too white. Flip the stripes round so it's more black than white and stick a red trim on it somewhere and I'd be happy with that. That's more Notts black and white stripes than Grimsby for me.

Supposedly our new shirt has been leaked, a big nod to the early '90s kits

We're so massive we get leaks of our kit from the sweatshops in Edgeley.

Looks alright but would have preferred the neck to have been white collar.

Puma consistently make the ugliest kits, big Prem teams included.

Our away shirts last couple of years have been decent. Less convinced on the home ones but I think I basically like one version of our kit and they're never going to be the same every year.

I was expecting ours to be stripes or something a bit more retro for our 130th year, so I find ours a bit meh to be honest. It seems to have gone down well with the fans in general though.

I agree with Newport being by far the best so far
what's with the sleeping giant hashtag? someone having a laugh?

Their owner has come out claiming that they are a bigger club than us today, which has upset some of our fans.

It's a nonsense statement because how do you judge those things (I'd say very similarly sized clubs tbh) , but it's clearly a line he's pushing that about Gills being some massive club in waiting. Can't blame him using our profile though tbh.

Where’s he said that?

As it happens last time we played you at your place we outnumbered you, so he may well have just been referring to that

Yeah I saw that, would take it with a pinch of salt but I guess the truth is we haven't played Wrexham in over 20 years, all of which we've been the higher division club. I don't go in for the whole 'bigger' club nonsense as there are 100 different factors, and as you say we're probably very similar clubs at heart anyway.

I do think Brad is right in saying that the owners of both clubs are trying to achieve similar things in their community, and he actually says positive things about the way R+R have gone about their business. I guess the whole concept of us being 'bigger' is based on success over the last however many years (and I think American's tend to look at success as a pretty strong marker of size) and we generally have just been at a better level than Wrexham for 25+ years now so from that point of view it makes sense as a statement.

Wrexham have a lot of potential, same as we do. They have exciting, shiny new(ish) owners, same as we do. They're redeveloping their ground as they need the extra capacity, something on our to-do list as well. They can pay good money, as we can. There's a lot of similarities between the current setups of both clubs, so let's not get into a bickering war about who's 'bigger' than who.

It's click bait, and it's fine. And I agree the whole 'bigger club' conversation at this level is nonsense. I think we are particularly touchy about it because after 15 years stuck in the doldrums people have (understandably) forgotten about us until recently. But the truth remains that most clubs at this level who are 'historic lower league clubs' have a similar profile, fanbase etc just occasionally fortunes wax and wane.

And anyway, we are European quarter finalists so clearly bigger.
