I propose we don't have a vote on Carver for Mod. If you're going to do it, just do it - once you've checked with mowgli that it's OK of course.

These multiple topic threads are a pain aren't they? They just get cluttered up with side issues and WUMs.

Anyway, 'fish was looking for ideas and that was why he started this thread, wasn't it. I'm going with a concerted effort to flesh out and add value to a nominated PCFT (Potential Critical Failure Thread) for the next few weeks.

This coming saturday is a tricky one. My prejudices take me away from Yeovil v Satanage and, although Wycombe v Cheltenham or Colchester v Crewe may need a hand, I'm nominating FGR v Morecambe to suffer my attentions. First motivation for input from Chris FGR, The Jovial Forester, FGR Stroud, FGRJC, Greenacres, FrankTheTank, dog, Stripes and of course that champion of the best meat 'n' tatie pies in football ShrimpsMeltdown is that if one of them doesn't start a thread soon, I'll come up with my own thread title.

It's an early basement six-pointer, you'll have to hurry if you want naming rights to the tussle of the walking dead. I'm far too modest to be posting up threads myself, plus overseas so not really well placed to write a decent opener.

''In a 52-48 referendum this would be unfinished business by a long way. If the Separate Match Thread campaign win two-thirds to one-third that ends it.”

All sorts of material you could use, whether it be the stereotypical vegan/shrimps puns, Eric Morecambe, or even the whole Nemesis super car v Pimp Shrimp my Ride /(North) West Coast Customs references if you wanna be edgy.

Or being topical there's the whole moshing ban /Jordygate/#justiceforjordy stuff as well.

Jesus Christ this is a L2 message board not the United Nations.

Suggestion for FGR v Morecambe thread title could be.........
How about 'tinpotters who are non league in all but name v tinpotters who are non league in all but name'? :2thumb:

He's right though. It's such a non issue.

I've got to be honest, I missed the vote first time round and can't even find the poll thread now. It was only after a decision was supposedly reached that I became aware it was even debated/decided on. I didn't even know there was an issue.

I still don't see the issue though. Why can't we continue as we are? You can debate all the games in the main thread if you want and we'll talk about specific matches in our own thread. Sifting through pages of Lincoln, Grimsby, Mansfield & Notts County fans chatting bollocks while I try to find anything on our game is not my idea of fun. It's more likely to result in me posting less rather than more.

Also why the obsession with creating debate on games no one wants to talk about? If Morecambe v Crawley (for example) generates little interest, there's no need to force it. Just let the debate happen naturally and you'll get a far better set of threads.

And clicking on all the individual match threads is not my idea of fun, either. If you've missed the tongue in cheek nature of this thread and have got wound up about it though, you've probably wasted your time reading it.

You lot have stopped taking the bait so much these days tho:animatedf:
I wonder if there is a direct correlation between the people who didn't mind being lied to about the NHS/Brexit and those that don't mind the fact that we had a vote in here and that the results were ignored?

The poll thread got deleted as it was at that time when 2 weeks of threads all got wiped out, can't remember why exactly but think it was a mod/admin who went a bit loopy or summat. :dk:

I did miss the tongue in cheek nature of this thread, partly because you sacked off finishing off the ranking of managers thread and wanting to be banned in protest at the "scandalous" decision to keep multiple threads.

If I came across as wound up it was more because of this confusion/lack of reading your apparent attempt at humour.

I like this. The more pages your match day threads have, the more seats you get.

Well it is scandalous. Have a vote on something, go against the result. I'm not sure what part of this people think is okay. I never wanted to be banned either, I merely asked the admins to have my account revoked. Something which they have done for at least 3 members previously to my knowledge. Instead I was lied to. So yeah, I was pissed off at that point about that, and didn't fancy putting any effort into making this place a decent forum but I have since done a bit of u-turn on that. It's worth noting that the reason that you are taking exception to any of my opinions in this debacle is partly because you happen to be on the same side as all those with a bit of power and you currently have your own way. In the future, should you politely request a trial run of your ideas and can provide evidence that they are working in other parts of the forum then I hope such a request does not get instantly thrown out and that you don't have your PM privileges taken away.

Also, apologies that the thread isn't to your liking.

Does that mean you're finishing the manager thing off?

I've actually been harbouring intentions of making it into a little fanzine type thing, however the problem with that is managers being sacked, etc. If I start making that then I'll add the written content into here as well.

FYI, the Cowleys came in 10th place in a recent Lincolnshire Echo list (why they had one of those I have no idea), which, as we know, is far too low.

Since you've done your U turn, does that mean you're going to finish the managers ranking thread? That was good.

My position on this isn't to reject one thread, more to ask "is it even necessary?" There's evidence from other league forums on 1FF to suggest both systems work fine and I don't think there's any evidence that the League 2 forum is "broken".

In truth I don't care that much about what we do, more the principal of changing things for changes sake.

Apology accepted.

PS you can take away my PM privileges if you like - I can't remember the last time I used them. :)

The mod who went loopy was also the one who insisted individual match threads were good and attracted new members to the forum the previous season.

This season the vote went against him, we have a very successful single thread as a trial and then we lose two weeks of data containing the vote and successful trial

Coincidence.....

First time I've come on this forum for a few months and I'm pleased to see that this discussion is still going on. It's like slipping back into a comfy pair of slippers that you've just found under the sofa.

It’s lovely isn’t it? Bit like test match special or the shipping forecast. I feel the same way about the attendance threads. When I’ve had a busy time I like to unwind by reading about who took the most to Bury or Scunthorpe.
