I suspect you are both right, certainly that was my initial thought. If so, i’d be very interested in how Wigan fans view things?
How would you like us to view things?
As I've always said, the football creditors paid first rule is the worst in football.

You pay all your debts off to every creditor, if you can't, you go bust and start again like any club in France, Spain, Germany and Italy.

But clubs in this country get chance after chance. Some then end up being bought by extremely rich people on the cheap which is an insult to well run clubs as these clubs end up heavily distorting the market with obscene spending.

I think administration should lead to automatic relegation at the very least. 12 points off just isn't enough.
Agreed, which is exactly what we did and and hence why we were allowed to spend god knows how many months in admin rather than be liquidated.

SMH, I have no view. It was a genuine question. First, is it you? Second, are you delighted in the ambition or do you have nagging doubts whether it is financially sustainable, or maybe both?

Cards on the table, I'm nervous. At the same time. though, as a fan there's nothing I can do about it. What I do know is that without these people the club would be dead, they put their money down when no one else would and saved us and stuck around for months despite the behaviour of our administrators who were desperate to sell the club to some Spanish crook that failed the EFL fit and proper test. For that alone they deserve our backing. They've stated publicly that their five year plan is to turn us into a stable Championship club and build from there, which I think any fan would be more than happy with.

Thank you. My suspicion is that most of us would have a similar view if it was our club. From the outside though it feels a bit like a”shit or bust” strategy. That if you don’t get promoted this year there could be serious implications. I may well be wrong, let’s hope I am.

The bottom line for me is that the consequences of getting it wrong are not severe enough to stop any club taking a huge risk (and this is not having a go at you). As has been said by several contributors in this thread the football debtors first rule appears to end up protecting clubs from the ultimate penalty that other companies would face. We were guilty of this in 2011, and it is wrong.

Yesterday, the club announced that they had released the three U-18 players responsible for the racist Whatsapp posts after the Euros final. Glad to see that they didn't shirk the issue and seem to have gone about this in the right way.

The right decision in my mind. Well done Pompey.

Left with no choice really but it seems to have been acted upon pretty swiftly.

The noises sound like Russell Martin is off to Swansea in the next day or so.

Would imagine there’ll be a few interested in the MK job then. Whoever gets it will have a very decent squad to work with.

I really hope not. Not just because I like Martin and how we play under him. The whole squad has been built around playing his way and I would suppose most of the players have come because of him and his philosophy.

If he goes I wouldn't mind betting Lewington gets the coaches job. He obviously would need experienced back up though.

ok i will put a fun sort of challenge out there..........We have not paid a Transfer fee for over 4 years
last season we signed Doyle, Santos,Sarcevic Mj Williams and Baptiste on frees
This season we have signed another set of players so i will add another 5 to last seasons 5
Dixon G/K Johnson c/h Sheehan m/f john l/b Dapo L/W forward

That is some talent without paying a fee.............Think Dapo will be the stand out player in lge 1 this season................Have you others that will challenge those players who you brought in as a free

We have Jones,LeeGilkes Isgrove Etc who i have not even included

Come on tell me who you expect big things from..................

Looks like we've found our new gaffer. Liam Manning of Lommel SK in Belgium. The stats and videos of his philosophy match us a lot and he seemed to do well with them last season in their first season of being a part of the City Group.

I'm interested to see if any Ipswich fans can shed some light on him though considering it seems like he's spent a bit of time with you as both a player and a youth coach.

Confirmed this morning. Appointed as Head Coach rather than Manager which just confirms that we are following the Brentford / Barnsley model. Will take the team for the game against Sunderland tomorrow so quite an introduction to the EFL.

Looks a sensible appointment in terms of continuation of playing style.

So we wait 17 months for a couple of home fixtures with fans, and now we have another 32 day gap? Nice one, fixture computer.

Our home game against Rotherham in early September has been postponed due to internationals, so my first game of the season will be Ipswich a couple of weeks later by the looks of it.

Ours against Sunderland is looking like it might be off too.

We’ve had Peacick-Farrell called up already and looking like that Corbeanu will be in the Canada squad plus possibly a couple of U21‘s.

Striker Freddie Issaka aged 15 years and 35 days has come on as a sub against Newport in the Pizza cup. He becomes our youngest ever player.

Who is the youngest person to play a first team match for you, and how old were they?
