We should have stayed up last season we were forced to play 8 games between the 2nd to 24th April because of the matches we were forced to postpone due to Covid issues in the squad.

We could be accused of not being careful enough but it did feel like we were being punished by the EFL, who lets face it would much rather we weren't in the Championship.

TBF the Championship can be a pretty dispiriting place when you are just hoping to get to 50 points but I do believe that if this team/squad were playing in the Championship this year, we would have a realistic chance of staying up.

We might lose a few players in January but Warney is quite adamant we don't have to sell. Having said that, I don't believe he would stand in the way of a player leaving if it benefits all parties.
If we CAN hang on to everybody, we certainly have a good chance of Yo Yo ing once again, this is a better squad than the last 2 who got promoted,
It’s a testament as to how strong the league is this season when you have a better squad that the last two promotions and still aren’t guaranteed to go up. The gap between the top half and bottom half of L1 this season in terms of quality is the biggest that I’ve known it to be.

The top six of League 1 seems on a par with some of the championship with the exception of the top few. Perhaps that is no different to any other season.
I still think Wigan and Rotherham will go up automatically as they are the best two teams that I have seen.

I can fully understand you and any other fan saying that as you'll have only ever known him as the carthorse striker that every other club have played him as before joining us. But he's a totally different player to the Will Keane of years past. Has played as a number ten ever since Richardson got his hands on him, utilising his ability on the ball and its transformed him. Watch his assist from this weekend and you'll see what I mean. Having said that, you may well be right but I hope we can find out next season.

If we were to go up and stay up (again a massive if), I'm sure we'd sell Lang for 10 million minimum in summer 2023, which should offset most of the losses we'd make building a squad good enough for the Championship. Locking him down on a four year deal was the best bit of business the new ownership have done since coming in. Kerr will no doubt prove a sellable asset in time as well, as will Aasgaard (the newest academy gem).

Until parachute payments are obliterated and redistributed evenly across the Championship, the only way clubs like us can break even at that level is player trading. That goes for most of the league.
The issue with parachute payments will be an interesting on given the review by Tracey Crouch. It sounds like the PL and EFL are getting their heads together about it but I'm not sure what evenly distributing it only amongst the Championship will achieve? That'd just widen the gap between there and L1 further?

Remind me, where are you in the table?
How many managers have you sacked recently?
How does it feel to live in a remote backwater where the farm animals are more intelligent than the people?
What's it like when you realise you're actually shit? Oh, I think you know the answer to the last one, as we're seeing it played out on here.

More like 110 games if you include the last two full seasons we've finished above you.

I do agree though about Ipswich being a shit team, with shit fans and a shit ground. Still, that's what you expect from a mid table third division club.

Our stadium is shut today due to covid positive staff members (admin staff not coaches etc), no idea what the rules might be on postponing games if those who run the behind scenes things can’t be there on a match day.

Edit: ticket office is also closed, don’t know what that means for our game vs Crewe on Saturday

This is a weird one and should encourage some discussion.

Manny Monthe has been suspended for 7 games for something he said to a FGR player when playing for Tranmere in May 2021. Obviously it's now a new season and he's playing for Walsall so now they lose him for 7 games for something he did at his previous employer. Now I don't know what he said but it does seem unfair on Walsall for this punishment.

Pants, put this in the wrong thread! Apologies there is no delete only Edit. Feel free to ignore.

He was told by everyone at our place too but he didn’t listen and that’s no slight on Rotherham he just didn’t fit the profile of player you normally recruit

At the time we signed him we were playing with wingers so he might have been ok but Warne decided he wanted to play 2 up front and employ wing backs.

Ogbene, Miller and Ferguson have adapted and worked hard to learn the system.

Sadlier seems to be the type of character that expects the world to revolve around him.
He clearly has talent and can strike a ball with both feet and he is a good dribbler but hasn't got the pace to get away unfortunately.
He has had 2 or 3 good games but that's not enough in 18 months.

As you say we have a system that works, he just isn't capable of putting the effort and discipline needed to play wing back so it's best for all parties that he has moved on.

Osei Tutu joins us from Arsenal on Monday to share the load with Ogbene, I doubt Sadlier will live long in the memory of either our coaching staff or the fans.

I think you hit the nail on the head he doesn’t have the pace

He also is slow to react to losing possession, his first thought is to throw his arms in the air in disappointment, then he realises he should be contesting to get it back.
Trouble is by then the opposition are 20 - 30 metres away on a break away.

Pace and desire are two very hard things to teach so will always be a problem with him.

Anyway despite his apparent bitterness I hope he has a good career, up to leaving he always seemed to be a decent kid.
Maybe he was just trying to ingratiate himself with his new fans.
