We've struggled massively with injuries for the past 2/3 months. For the past 5 years we've been run properly with integrity, there is absolutely no way we are using the covid card as an excuse. Unfortunately, a number of players and staff have covid, let's hope everyone's well come the re-arranged fixture.
From our point of view we are well ahead of most teams with the amount of games we have played and if we are going to have a game cancelled surely one of the easter ones where we have games in even more quick succession is the best time. I'm just looking at it as a well needed rest for the team.

Yes, it would be a better time for us to play Lincoln with half their team out but in the overall scheme of things it doesn't really matter that much to us. We aren't going to get relgated. We aren't going to get promoted but Lincoln still might. I don't begrudge them this postponement at all.

Ipswich have new owners following their successful takeover. Out goes Marcus Evans and in a US pension fund as owners.

How much has Evans spent at Ipswich during his tenure?

Don’t have the actual figures to hand but he spent millions trying to get us into the premier league. Got rid of Jim Magilton after finishing 9th, backed Roy Keane and Paul Jewell who were just inept. Then he was able to hide behind McCarthy who ran everything. No communication, he’s done 1 public interview in 13 years. Since 2013 I believe he’s just been putting in £6 million a year to keep the club going. Which we’re grateful of the but club needs so much extra investment. Lowest position for 60 years and the stadium is a mess. Best way to sum it up is death by a thousand cuts. There’s worse owners out there but there’s now light at the end of the tunnel!

Another kick in the teeth. When will they ever learn?

The shadiness of Lee Power has finally come to a head. Wonder how the club and the fans are going to be punished now. Fine, points deduction? I guess it's hardly a surprise given the absolute disaster on and off the field ever since Doughty retired from football at the start of the season.

Surely a points deduction? Question is whether it'll be this or next season.

It’ll hardly be this season unfortunately. If we get relegated anyway, a points deduction would actually be no punishment at all. If we stay up I’d imagine any deduction would be applied at the beginning of next season - whether still in L1 or L2.

The only thing it'd do next season is guarantee you don't get promoted for 1 year. Without knowing the punishment rules, I guess it also depends on how quick this process is - no doubt your owners will try to drag it out?

If they manage to do it this month (lol) then theres a chance they could give you a points deduction if you stay up and if you get down, you'll get it next season. But it's unlikely tbh

Sounds like Cook will receive heavy backing this summer.

A clearout was always happening - could see a player turnover of 10 or 15.

I’m not even convinced it’s a ‘points deduction’ offence. The FA rule broken is, essentially, a conflict of interest rule. The club hasn’t benefited at all. In fact, I’d say it’s been detrimental to the club on the pitch.

You said earlier that the previous owner put in about £6m a year to keep the club going.
Now your new owners are are to give Cook ‘heavy backing’.
In order to comply with the league’s SCMP rules the only way this can be done is in the form of ‘gifts’ from the new owners.
Which begs the question, are Ipswich Town FC ever going to be run as a self sufficient football club or are they always going to rely on a sugar daddy?

Probably?

But hey; it hasn't worked to date so we're not gloating just yet.

Look mate come on. Rovers, Wigan, Wimbledon, Northampton & Rochdale fans all know it’s worth at least 10 points this seasons. You’re living in dream land!

Nothing will happen this season with Swindon, they've got until 22nd April to appeal, which I imagine they will, and they'll not get that out of the way until the summer.

Is this charge relating to the Gareth Barry thing?

As for us, we were back at the training ground for testing on Tuesday. I'm assuming they got results back yesterday so fingers crossed they can return to training today ahead of the Blackpool game.

Yeah It is. I don't know the weeds of the matter but I think that Barry has been involved somehow using Michael Standing - who apparently is a shady character as well, from the snippets I have been reading from fans on Twitter (which i'm fully aware is not a high bar of knowledge)

The potential punishment isn't even outlined in the FA documentation. It's down to a 'panel', so draw your own conclusions as to whether its likely to be a slap on the wrist, i.e a small fine or something much more sinister, points deduction.

Not sure whether it's telling or not but the Trust STFC have released a statement urging the FA to punish the individuals involved in this crime and not the clubs and the fans. We can appeal up to April 22nd so should know more later this month I guess.

I‘ve already written to the FA demanding an IMMEDIATE deduction. Only way to maintain integrity in the competition imvho.

It is interesting that the FA have charged the club and Power separately - leaving the possibility of different punishments for each.

I’m past caring, tbh.

Seen us linked with Gwion Edwards on a free.

We'll be signing 10+ players ourselves this summer.

He started like a house on fire when he joined us.

Has since blown hot and cold (more the latter) for a long time now and half the time appears totally disinterested; though arguably you could say that about most of our senior players.

Will be interesting to see if the players suddenly appear to give a fuck this weekend now the takeover is done!

It's OK, they can have another week off before actually bothering thanks.

Even if we got a points deduction and took 1 of the relegation spots, you reckon you’d still stay up?

The FA have charged us. They don’t award points deductions. Only the EFL do that.

The FA docked us 10 of our 30 points in the minus 30 season that saw us relegated from the football league.

That was obviously over a decade ago now though so the rules may very well be different, but there is certainly precedent for FA point deductions for breaking those intermediary rules

According to the universal sage, Nixon, these days the FA only dish out fines and bans. They leave any deductions to the EFL.
