Not as much as the year after, you were better than us that season and Torquay really weren't (plus we knew the SOB writing was on the wall then)m

Hindsight's a blessing and all, but if we'd have gone up at that point, we'd probably have been back there for some while. Ho hum.

I've said this before, but if "spending beyond money they make" is the criteria, then it's easier to list the few EFL clubs that don't hit that.

Who didn't make some form of loss this (last) year? Exeter?

Yep it’s a tiny, tiny percentage that do not spend beyond their revenue.

For what it’s worth Mansfield have made a small profit quite often in recent years, but we have the benefit of a sponsorship revenue due to being within the One Call Group, I suspect we may gain a profit this season considering the transfer profit we accumulated, but at the same time maybe we’ve spent all that on redevelopment for the Bishop Street stand, frustratingly our owners are brilliant but financially they are not transparent enough.

Hmmm, not sure where you got that from but ok.

You are not making profit, I’m not sure the last time you did maybe you can tell me. I was not having a go, like mentioned most clubs make a loss every season and it’s a unfortunate reality of football, the main issue is players are paid too much. I believe Mansfield have accumulated over £6.5m of debt over the years!

Be interesting how Wrexham approach the Championship next season, will they massively increase spending to try and compete (at least financially) which will wipe out any chance of profit, or have a go at being a bottom third underdog and try to gradually build up, you’ll make more money that way.

Well done to Exeter and Shrews, ridiculously low return for Hudds. Burton spent more than I’d expect - panic buys perhaps?

I'd imagine it's just quantity with Burton.

How we've managed to spend almost £200k and end up with this bag of shite is another question.

I think our obsession with loan signings has helped.
Still money going out of the game though

We're staggeringly high. I'd imagine the agents have us over a barrel. Can imagine the conversation with the club be like 'you want to sign my client, well give me £x and i'll twist his arm a little more to join but it will cost you.'

Can’t wait to welcome Vale back to the third tier, bitching about the ref every single week…
Finally able to get on this site again. This is actually the one blessing for us getting relegated. My favourite moment was when they said they were the better team when thrashed 7-0 by Barnsley.

Hunt should win that by a distance, not even being shortlisted is an absolute joke.
Barry only did half a season, no way should he be one there. Kone will walk the young players award you'd think.
I think Parkinson has done a better job than Davies, personally. Good team selections and realising that Mullins etc aren't good enough. Wellens had also done well. But it will go to the champions, just like in the Premier League where Nuno should win it but Slot will

It does feel like they asked for votes in January and only just got around to sorting out nominations, just look at the Walsall boss being nominated for L2.

(and yeah, I know Hunt hasn't been at Reading all season, but it's still the best job anyone has done in the campaign)

Personally thought Challinor was unlucky not to be nominated as well.

Wellens will deserve it if by some miracle we end up going up, which will only happen if pigs fly.

our takeover has now been confirmed.

American Businessman David Gandler is the new majority shareholder of Leyton Orient.

Current chairman Nigel Travis will stay on as club chairman and will still assume the day to day run ing of the club. This was expected to happen and Nigel is expected to remain doing this for the next two seasons.

Serious question, and this is not through loyalty to the team I support, but surely Akins, just like anyone else has the right to work until he is sentenced? Or do we throw that out of way just because it’s football?

It’s a very sad situation all round, most importantly for the victim and his family, and also admittedly to a lesser extent to Akins family. I was actually a bit surprised he got real prison time, I’m not saying that’s right, but I know of similar cases where they get suspended sentences instead of custodial because it was ‘carelessness’ and not ‘reckless’ but my personal opinion is custodial is the correct outcome.

I see it from both sides having reviewed it in detail, i dare say those who have posted here haven’t much of a clue in the detail and posted on a whim.

He should never have played again after he pleaded guilty, club should have sacked him there and then really. Disgraceful that Clough picked him that very day for a match.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I just feel like a lot of people opinions would immediately swing if it was someone they knew considering the circumstances, so the outrage against Clough seems disingenuous to me.

we will never know but I do wonder how it was perceived in the squad, we’ve all heard how Akins is the nicest bloke you could imagine but It seems possible some players had the same opinions of those expressed in here.

Dunno what's in this nuance that's been missed, but if one of my club's players went and pleaded guilty to killing someone one day and was on the teamsheet for the next match, I'd be ashamed of my club.

In the "real world" if you took a morning off to plead guilty for manslaughter, you wouldn't expect to still have a job when you come back in the afternoon. If, indeed, you'd not lost it months and months beforehand.

As regards Clough, purely based on that article and how he framed it (as I said before). Do it the other way around and seem sincere, and it's fine, rather than coming across as an afterthought as it did there.

Honestly, and I had to look in to this because I must admit I was skeptical of my own knowledge, but that just is not true.

I’m not sure if legally speaking Akins is considered guilty of manslaughter in his charge or not, not seen that word used anyway, I think because it’s ’careless’ that is a separate specific offence, I do get the point you are trying to make though, I just think these things matter a lot in such a serious matter.

Regarding the ‘shame’ unfortunately mate I think you’ll find yourself in a massive minority with any (insert random L1 club) fanbase, that doesn’t make you wrong, just reality bizarrely enough!

You're quite right and I hold my hands up, it wasn't manslaughter but "causing death by death by careless or inconsiderate driving" and isn't equal to a manslaughter charge.

Consider my previous remarks "causing death"

And I should say, I don't having anything to judge whether he's a good or bad person, and I don't believe that he woke up on that day and expected what happened to happen, but someone has still lost their life through his actions.

I dunno pal, look around at anyone he doesn't play for in this thread.
