He was pretty poor last season no doubt about it. Scored a few quality og's too.

The only time I can remember Flint doing anything terrible last season was the pass back against Port Vale. Apart from that he wasn't doing awful, he just wasn't the colossus that he's been this season. Hence why there was question marks over his price tag.

Prior to his injury at Shrewsbury he had really began to pick up form. However, with it being such a bad injury, I had my doubts about whether he'd even get into the team this year.

You can't praise the man enough for how he came back from that injury a far better player. Must have taken a lot of dedication, and he deserves all the awards and credit that he gets.

If Karleigh Osborne hadn't been injured in Botswana, I don't think he would have been in the first 11 either.

That may well have been the case, although Osborne had been having a poor pre-season up to that point anyway. Either way it's worked in our favour, at Karleigh's expense, which is a shame for him as he was instrumental in keeping us up last season

Osborne looked awful for us on loan, so it was surprising at the time seeing he had supposedly been so influential in your side. Strange one.

Yeah I heard he was poor for you. Hard to judge a player after just a few games though, even more so considering he hadn't played all season previous to the loan. After 3 or 4 games with us Matt Smith was also being judged as awful on our forum. Then he scored 9 goals in 5 games.

Osborne was poor in his first couple of games for us and then when Cotterill came in he became instrumental in our survival

Joe Garner was fucking dogshit when he first arrived at North End, looked a nothing player in the 15 or so games in his first season.

His finishing was gash and he offered nothing outside of the box, wouldn't have given a shit if we released him that summer.

Goes to show that some players need a lengthy settling in period, although I still think Kevin Davies deserves a shit load of credit for kick-starting Garner's PNE career.

Our fans would usually have him written off by then.

What manager signed Garner for you?
