For us it'll most probably be James Collins. Overall I think it's between Will Grigg or Lee Gregory.

Looking at How are lining up with two quick wingers I wouldn't put it past Hanson bagging 20+

He's never bagged close to 20 league goals in the last 6 seasons. Hell, even Nahki Wells never bagged 20 league goals for you and he is a much better striker than Hanson. I admire your optimism, but I doubt he'll get much more than 15.

Why is everybody so confident Lee Gregory will score 20+? Based on what exactly?

Whilst I don't think Hanson is clinical enough to hit 20, the idea isn't as outlandish as it seems. On average he has missed 10+ games a season since he signed for us - he's only ever played 40+ league games in a season once for us in 6 years. If he can stay fit and as the team now appears to be being properly built around him, rather than just using him as a target up top, it isn't unrealistic for him to at least get close to 20.

Grant Holt if he keeps fit

Good shout. I think Wigan have to be the favourites for next season, should therefore score lots of goals, and in Grant Holt and Will Grigg, have two strong candidates for top scorer.

As of you'd even go down that road.

Nahki was bloody brilliant - and as far as league statistics go;

11/12 - 33 appearances - 10 goals
12/13 - 39 appearances - 18 goals
13/14 - 19 appearances - 14 goals

Then SOLD for £1.5m to Huddersfield.

He was only getting better, and this was at a relatively youngish age.

Hanson will never hit 20 goals a season. I have never had faith in him, and whilst he's scored some legend-esque goals, he's not someone who I would like to see lead our front line purely because he is incapable of playing a whole season, and scoring more then 15 goals.

He has a relatively decent scoring record for a target man - his pro-average being around 13 goals a season, but given he has long been considered our 'main' striker, it simply isn't good enough....and not only that, because he dominates every CB he has played against, we're almost abliged to forget all about our midfielders, as Rory McArdle hoofs from defence make all but sure that we'll never look to play the ball through the middle, irrespective of whether we have the ball players to do so or not.

It should be Williams for us, very hard to say for the league as there are a few who have had injury issues that could come good. One thing in Chesterfields favour is that the team will definitely be fit under Saunders so probably Ebanks-Blake. I'm changing my mind, Paddy Madden for me.

I'd guess our top scorer will be Dalle Valle with about 10-15. As for top scorer in the league I'll go Grigg with 24.

I actually think LDV has the potential to score more than that. He won't top score obvs but I think he has it in him to get 15+ if Davis doesn't play too negative. LDV, Garratt and (hopefully) Colclough are the only three players I'm interested in watching next season.

The thing is we've only had one proper winger for the last 6 years that we over relied on such as Omar Daley and Kyel Reid. We were predictable as far as wingers were concerned. For the first time I'm ages we have 2 or 3 proper wingers with pace which is why I expect Hanson to get more service and score more. Even if most of those goals just bounce off his knee or head.

20 would be beyond my expectation, but its not impossible. He managed 9 last year for a crap side in the Championship being played either wide or on his own by an idiot manager in his first season out of non-league. I reckon 15-18 more likely.

Thank you. A reasoned reply without the needless, pointless sarcasm.

From a betting pov, the two that really stand out are Tom Bradshaw and Joe Gormley. Bradshaw had an excellent goal ratio for Walsall last season despite spending several months on the sidelines. Gormley has been a goal machine in northern Ireland and could carry on in the same vein for Posh.

You would imagine Will Grigg will be close to the 20-goal mark if he plays 40+ games.

We were both being silly Dan.
I can see Bradley Dack getting 10-15 this season from midfield and I will be amazed, and delighted, if he is still with us on 2nd February.

Can't see it but had £4 on Che Adams at 50-1 as an outside bet. Has done really well in pre-season so looking forward to seeing him in the league
