Been linked for weeks, box to box midfielder played top flight football in Portugal from Setabul.

Setubal offered him a new contract but he wanted to move on. Seems to have the best pedigree out of all of your foreign signings.

So far he's the one I've said I most wanted of those strongly linked. Two more in the next hour one almost certainly Kiko who has been clearly training with the squad all week!

Can't say I know much about him but even people on OVF are being positive about this signing so he must have something about him

What kind of team do you expect him to sign for? He seems like the kind of player Jon Whitney likes and needs. We have 1 wide man at the club and are desperate for wingers. Whitney also seems to like to take those troubled with injuries and then utilise his knowledge as a physio/injury prevention-ist to help them play more games.

If he stays in this country I'd imagine given the injury it would be another League 1 club, not sure who other than there would be some form of fee (not huge) involved. Could imagine Page maybe looking at him for Northampton possibly? Walsall would be a good place to go for him though I reckon given the track record in developing young players.

One thing he will need to do wherever he goes is learn how to cope with teams who try to rough him up a bit like what Gillingham as one example did with him last year. Maybe given that he might try another country as the rest of his career has been played outside of England.

If nothing else at least you can assume this is a Bruno signing given he would know him well. Hard to know what to expect but maybe that's to our advantage when the season kicks off.

The squad is slowly coming together now.

1 more signing to be announced around 5pm today?

Tavares should be an equal replacement to Occy easily so keeps the central midfield quality of last season with Grant, Foley and Brown.

Kiko is young and seems to have potential so we will see. Must be no worse than Dicko surely? Good thing is at least they can help each other settle in!

Plus whoever Smurf is trying to tie up from Monaco and the lad from Blackburn on trial.

Hopefully but other than a couple of edited videos on Youtube I don't know anything of them so couldn't possibly know that.

Bit harsh on Dicko too I might add, he was a very decent captain for us.

Kiko has played a fair few times for Portugal U20s and 19s so must have some decent potential.

It's fashionable for our fans to cry we haven't got any money, McCabe is slashing the wage bill, need to sell our best player etc. etc. whilst ignoring that we've had the highest or 2nd highest wage bill every year we've been down here
Unfortunately, you won't have the largest wage bill this season, that will go to our mugs still stuck with players on Prem wages for one more season

We won't go down. People do realise we've played dross over the last few years and still stayed up?

Carlos Saleiro ex Sporting Lisbon and Portugal U21 striker. Seems to have been around a few top flight clubs in Portugal and Servette.

Interesting one

Pointless fact he is Portugals first IVF baby!

Think there's a lot of assumptions from Vale fans, its interesting times for the club but it seems exactly like Notts last season. Its hard to say where the hell they'll end up, a lot of stuff from foreign second divisions and reserve teams of big clubs for example, and I have no idea what sort of standard that is.

None of these players seemed to be regulars at their previous clubs, that would worry me. Notts signed players from the Eredivisie and they didn't turn out too good in L2.

Its early days but when the signings are so en masse like this its really hard to judge what will happen. Gotta be better than boring old Page...you'd hope.

No one knows how these will go (plus the Monaco deals Smurfs trying to tie up) but we've generally signed released players from Stevenage or Crewe so to sign players from Setabul and Monaco is certainly more interesting if nothing else.

This must be your target man.

Having lived abroad I have to say that the Portuguese are the huffiest people on a football field. When the chips are down, I certainly wouldn't want them on my side to get me out of a hole. Not exactly team players!

It will be interesting to see how all these players adapt to playing in England. I think you'll need a very good start to the season or you could have a very unhappy season Valefan.

It's the manager that makes me think Vale seem a decent bet to go down, not necessarily the players.
