Rumours we are in talks to loan Monaco defensive midfielder Bennasser a Moroccan International signed for 3 million pounds from Nancy.

hmmm - not exactly the glowing endorsement I was hoping for :err:

Gills fans seem to rate him from his time there

He was fine. We did tend to play him in a back 5 which probably helped, as playing a back 4 would probably leave him pretty open to being run ragged. Good organiser.

Quite happy with Adam El-Abd, a good experienced replacement for Knight-Percival.

In other Town news Tyrone Barnett has been allowed to leave on a free transfer, what a waste of £100,000 that was!

Which leaves us with just Leitch-Smith and Mangan plus kids as forward options at the moment, so plenty of work to do for Mellon to strengthen that area of the squad before the season starts. At least one very good quality striker required plus another as backup I would have thought.

Of course the six figure payment coming our way following Bradshaw's transfer will help with this.

Happy with the signing of El-Abd, experienced centre back was top of the priorities.

As above, Barnett being allowed to move on and Phil Brown has said if he's going to Southend they have 24 hours to get the deal done. It was a waste of transfer fee and wages for us, but its time to cut our losses and free up some more wages.

A couple more signings and were certainly stronger then last season, nothing special, but stronger.

All these former multi million pound transfers for international players from big overseas clubs.
Either they are earning fuck all at these big clubs or Smurph is really putting his hand in his pocket this year.

The club have just tweeted that Matty Taylor has signed a new contract with us, putting to bed rumours of a move to the Championship, SPL and any other League One club!

Bruno has friends in good places more like... The Monaco link up is to do with his agent I believe. Lets see if he is the one Smurf has been in Monaco dealing with.

He's going to get absolutely slaughtered if he comes back out of sorts and doesn't hack it in L1 with the way he's messed the club about this summer.

I'll give up now if it's him. Utter garbage.

Did Davies sign a deal at Bradford?

@SportsPeteO Bradford City and Walsall are battling it out for Huddersfield Town striker Jordy Hiwula.

Quite a few of our fans would let Bradford have him after his lacklustre second loan spell. I'm not one of them and would love him back but I wouldn't be too upset if he signed for them. I'd imagine they want a fee to make up some of the £100k they spent on him.

Gah! Appleton said they shook hands on a deal. I get the impression that we were pursuing him quite aggressively. Hope there's a back up plan as we look short of goals!

Unfortunately he may well do if that were to happen, JJH. So much has been made of the whole saga and because there have been so many links to Championship clubs, it has been completely overlooked that he hasn't actually played at this level before and could indeed fail to cut the mustard. As a result of that people will be expecting him to carry on where he left off last year and, to be honest, it's his/his agent's fault that he will now have that pressure on his shoulders.

Personally think he'll adjust well, although I'm not expecting a goal record that matches his efforts last year. Either way, I think it's good business for us.

I don't think he's that bad, not worth that amount of money of course but he can be an asset for someone in this division. Personally I'd be happy to see him off the wage bill and sign a striker in a different mould, we revert to too much direct football when he's on the pitch.

He was nothing but horrendous for us.

I've seen some appalling strikers in my time, but he's very close to top of the list.

You just going after lower league players for this coming season mate?
'tis seemingly the approach we're taking now, after signing a few experienced players in Tomlin and Gary O'Neil. Happy for us to do this mind, it's what everyone was crying out for last summer, instead we went after Dwight Gayle, Andre Gray and Iniesta...

Would you say it's a bit of a gamble or do you have a decent scouting network?
