Tyrone Barnett has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent.

What a waste of £100,000 that was Mellon! :bang:
Thank God for that, sometimes you have to cut your losses. At least we didn't spend over a million on him like Posh!
Really pleased with this news, word has it he is Swindon bound!

Swindon fans, we have Ronald Huth on trial for us tonight, playing at centre back. Someone said he was on trial with you earlier this summer, did he do anything of note? Looks a strange career path for one of our trialists.

I read he looked decent but then ended up on trial at Bath City when we went to Ireland and we never saw him again.

He looked decent the one time I saw him v Supermarine. Surprised he's slipped down the pyramid

If you thought Akinfenwa was immobile, you haven't seen anything yet.

My grandad is better at giving your midfield an option than Tyrone and he's been dead since 2003.

Jon Taylor of Peterbrough to us is all but complete.

Cue the Peterbrough fans saying how shit he is as they did with arguably our two best players Frecklington and Newell.

Difference is Frecklington and Newell were fucking garbage for us. Taylor isn't.

Be a very decent fee if true. Due to play in a friendly game tomorrow night so we'll see.

Both quality.

No mention of it being a club record fee so wouldn't expect more than 400k. If it is more it won't be any more than 600k which we didn't want to pay for Grant Ward.

He won't be playing, could be announced by Wednesday.

Its us as he is close to signing. Our official site says so and I believe he had a medical yesterday. I know people don't seem keen but he does appear to score goals and he is not expected to be our main scorer but a foil to taylor and Elliott. Hopefully will work out.

I'm very glad we got an agreement in place to move Barnett on, hes not the worst footballer around despite what some people will say.

Personally I think we played far top direct with him on the pitch, and he didn't even win much in the air when we did. He scored a couple of good goals for us and some tidy touches, but in general he was just too slow, immobile and predictable.

Maybe a team who plays to his strengths will get something out of him, but it was never going to be here.

3-4 days for us to bring in another striker now, presumably it will be a loan seeing as we havrmt ventured into that option yet.

Just going on Wiki, it appears his career stalled after Posh bought him from Crawley. Clearly none of the fans of his recent clubs have good things to say about him, but when we signed Super Sammy Parkin in 2002, no Northampton fan had a good word to say about him, but he went on to score 67 goals in 124 appearances and we sold him to Championship side Ipswich for over half a million. So I guess have an open mind before writing him off.

Wigan seem to be rumoured to be interested in everyone, they're supposedly after Brayford and Adams from us

Haha if he ends up there he'll be gutted.

All he had to do was hand in a transfer request and he'd be back home in Sheffield now.

Fucking Wigan hahaha

In fairness we've signed Akpo Sodje - Crap record had a great season sold on for 325k, AJ Leitch-Smith signing was laughed at... top scorer last season for us... Constantine - Meh recent past when we signed him got 40 odd goals in a season and a half... and of course Tom Pope... forced to train with Rotherham youth side... Scored 31 goals that season (5 against the Millers in 2 games) so you just never know, sometimes a club and player just click and it works.

I can think of a number of reasons he'd pick Wigan over Rotherham. If location is such a factor he could quite easily settle somewhere that is equidistant between the two locations. It's only 60 miles or so.

In what world?

We were quite prepared to offer 10k + per week, if Wigan wanna offer Lee Gregory 15k + then thats their perogative.

We might have a lower end budget for our division but Wigan won't have a much bigger one.
