Barnsley are selling Brad Collins to a Championship club according to Sky, so they will need another keeper, so this probably has legs to it.

That would be all 3 of the outstanding keepers in League Two last year moving upwards. All thoroughly deserved and heading for the right levels respectively.

Signed centre half Manny Monthe on a 2 year deal. Left footed so adds balance back there, apparently we’re going 3 at the back this year. Manager a big fan of the system but injuries stopped us last year.
I think there are going to be a lot of 3 at the back sides next season, seems to be heading towards the in thing although I've always been a big fan of it if played correctly.

Our club captain Tom Conlon now confirmed out for 3 months with a hamstring injury. We are adequately covered in midfield anyway so can’t see us bringing anyone else in but the rumour he might be on his way to Notts certainly won’t be happening now. Feel for the bloke, had no luck the last couple of years going back to when he did his Achilles.

Signed Ryan Sweeney who was at Dundee. He was at Mansfield for 2 years prior. Know nothing about him. Stoke signed him for 250k but he never broke into the first team.
That’s 2 defenders in one day.

makes me wonder what Dino has seen in him that you did not. Probably nothing.

If you get the first 6 months player then maybe. Maybe a change of club may have a positive effect. But I haven't seen one disappointed comment on our forum.

Pretty solid signing that. He's no Maldini but a half decent defender.

Loaning some lad called Oliver Arblaster from Sheff United according to Alan Nixon. And apparently it is time to sound the highly rated klaxon!

Trust Lewis to join the team we're playing opening day.

Reading seem to be the front runners now to get Sam Smith. Knows the club and his best mate's just joined them so wouldn't be a surprise.

You have to realise just how far behind other clubs on wages we are. We were 23rd last season, only Accrington below us. We simply can’t pay more than £3k per week so we’re confined to players not good enough, players who are old and been cast aside by others, youth players, those with a history of injuries etc. It’s a really tough ask for the club to find anyone who can be close to good enough for the division.
Have you got the source for that 23rd in the division stat?

Our budget is undoubtedly small, but then a third of the division every year say that too. Still yet to see any official trusted source for our wage bill or where we rank among other teams though. We'll definitely be in that bottom group though, especially with money going towards all the redevelopment projects.

I'd like to think the league this season will be closer when it comes to budgets. Several rich teams have either been promoted or even relegated, a number of clubs have had some sort of financial/legal issues over the summer, and overall there are more clubs now of a similar size.

Obviously some clubs seem to like spending money they don't have, and others will have more money available because of player sales (which is something we usually seem to struggle on).

With a large chunk of the playing budget freed up by departures, there should also be more money available to use than last season.

Another new signing for Salop. Left sided CB Jason Sraha joins from Barnsley. Can’t say I know anything about him.

EDIT:- Hearing Tom Flanagan is off and to another League 1 club. He’s not rated by the new management and certainly divides opinion amongst the fan base. I liked him to start but he turned to shit. Wouldn’t be upset if he were to depart.

Heavy rumours down here we're gonna be signing Tom Carroll on a free. Has been out the game for over a year, but has kept his fitness up by training regularly at Spurs

It was posted on our forum a couple of months ago, I don’t have the link to hand. Obviously the link was your typical Twitter rumour posted as fact but it seemed reasonable enough. Accrington were the only club below us for what it’s worth.

I agree, losing Wednesday and Ipswich in particular will even the division up massively for us. Even Plymouth weren’t exactly scrimping. And we’ve gained Reading (signing players we’ve released and got financial issues), Blackpool (never huge spenders) and Wigan (not even paying wages at the moment) plus the four who have come up aren’t going to be huge hitters. It should be a more balanced league for us hopefully.

I wondered what had happened to him! I was quite excited when we signed him previously due to his upbringing, but he made Harper look good!

Looks like Exeter B (Burton Albion) will have another one of our players soon. Hearing Jake Caprice is signing next week.

Solid player but replaceable for certain.

Also seen Aden Flint’s name mentioned as possible signing for us (admittedly on Twitter!). Would be the ideal experienced head at the back, which we could do with.

Unsure about Tom Carroll…He’s training with us apparently. Seems to be one of those who has bags of talent but has massively lost his way…Bit like a Dale Jennings or Jose Baxter. Worth taking a look though as if we got him firing he’d be superb for us.

What is it with our fascination with your players? Perhaps their agent sold it to them as “yeah it’s just up the a38”

Weird isn’t it. Wonder if they all share the same agent? Heard Caprice handed in a transfer request, which I assume is because he’s not guaranteed first team football here and he’s out of contract next summer.

Do you have a RB or RWB already?

Kofi Balmer confirmed on a season long loan from Palace. Reading up him seems the Will Forrester replacement.

Ok well he can play both positions. He played a lot as a LWB for us too but he hasn’t got a left foot other than to stand on.

He’s quick, works hard and is good when there’s space to run into. Frustrates the hell out of me though. He loves to get into a good position and then check back into oncoming traffic. As I say, he’d be a solid signing nonetheless.

One of them (Blackman I think) was eulogising about St George's Park. Which seems a bit of a kick in the teeth as we've just spent millions upgrading our training ground...

Can anyone name this fella we have on trial?

Two names floating about are Elias Kachunga and Alex Gibson-Hammond.

It’s Alex Gibson-Hammond recently released by Forest.
