We've signed Alex Mitchell on loan from Milwall for the season. He was at St Johnstone in the SPL last season and the season before at Leyton Orient. Seems he's a right sided CB, which is a position we needed to fill.

Thoughts The Terminator E10rifle?

That's probably us about done now, perhaps a winger if we can get one in but we've done our business fairly early this season.
A solid no nonsense centre half, a kick it and head it type who likes a tackle and puts himself on the line for the team.

He was the only loanee we had that Wellens didn't turf out when he took over and played him a fair few times to look at him, he's not the best at playing out from the back and isn't the quickest so Wellens was never going to bring him back to us.

He did alright in Scotland from what I saw last year, will do a job at this level which is the next step for him.

Interesting... one of your other right backs was at Vale Park yesterday apparently...

Ryan Loft also rumoured to be one we are after according to our forum... could all be bull on that one though we need strikers!
Gibbons is coming back from injury but didnt travel with the squad to Portugal so has missed a chunk of pre-season. He may well be available now as he has never had a decent run in the first XI and Hoole has been performing well there.
Loft is an interesting one id have thought he was destined for L2 at best. Has the worst control ive ever seen from a pro footballer (his 2nd touch is usually as foul). He hit a bit of form last season then got injured and hasnt really shown anything since

I must say it's quite weird this window. For a change we got our business done early and will thus avoid the end of August scramble for players.

There's talk of recruiting another midfielder to replace the perennially injured Tom Lowery but I think we're covered anyway. There's always a chance of a sudden injury crisis changing things but I wouldn't be surprised if we're done.

He always looks like Shearer against us! had a bit of a streak against us. It depends its dependant on Ellis Harrison I guess, if he came in as back up then fine but if he was coming to replace (amid rumours he could be leaving) then its not ideal.

Gibbo I assume would depend on wages, if your looking to offload and are to subsidise his wages then I guess our initial offer last summer may be worth gambling on.

I’d be happy with Gibbo out on loan. He’s 2nd maybe 3rd choice RB for us now. He might get higher up the pecking order if he wasn’t so injury prone. Real shame, a raw talent but he needs regular game time as he can be a bit sloppy at this level.

On Loft: at best he’s lower midtable L1 standard tbh. I like him a lot but sadly he’s not really good enough for the push we’re on and he doesn’t suit our style of football.

That's the thing, its his injury, heart would love him back, hes one of our own, we know he has good ability but like Wilson its no good if hes on the treatment table half the time. It would have to be the right deal to make it worthwhile, that said he could of been visiting friends at the club!

At the moment I don't see him unseating Mitch Clark who looks to have massively matured since we first had him but I guess wouldn't be a bad back up to Conor Grant and could rotate them as we need a LWB cover now Benning has gone.

Would probably suit us at this stage, we need a presence up top and Ellis is injured again, we have signed some decent footballing midfielder and a pacey striker on loan but the missing cog is that presence to bring them all into it when on the attack.

We ended up playing Blackpool with no striker as such and having three pacey midfielder/wingers as a three prong so miss that presence. That said the Hudlin talk doesn't seem to go away.

Yanic Wildschut leaves us by mutual consent. The injury in a pre-season game basically killed his time with us. It was a game he should never have been involved in.

And in no surprise at all, Sam Baldock has confirmed to various people at yesterday's club Open Day that he won't play again and is moving into a new role with the club.

Another week goes by without us signing a striker. If Nombe picks up another knock we are screwed

Looks like Reading have put a few on the transfer list, talk on their forum is Andy Carroll is one of them after our game at the weekend and he didn’t feature midweek.

Getting pinched by Smudge for 90 minutes and back pocketed was probably that “welcome to league one” moment where he realised it wasn’t going to be much fun.
And Theo Walcott has retired

Baah joining Burton on loan .

No idea about him really but was touted as a good prospect when we signed him from Rochdale .

As The Terminator said he’s a really solid defender. Deceptively quick for a head-it, kick-it type. Physical for a young lad. Rarely makes positional mistakes. League One probably his ceiling and not the best with his feet. Good, committed player though; I liked him.

Thanks.

I wondered whether we'd opt for a more ball playing, step out of defence type RCB and it seems not then. Sounds a solid enough L1 defender, though, so can't complain at that. He looks bloody huge from the photos.

Ellis Harrison is not injured. He's asked to leave.

Bid rejected from Cheltenham Town (£150k I've heard).

As long as we use the money to replace him, I'm happy with that. We can get, and need to get, better than 8 goals from open play.

Cheltenham closer to home maybe but would be a strange move. If we get decent money and get a decent replacement in then good business.

I was waiting for this to happen now Clarke and Taylor aren't there to hold his hand. Never seems to settle anywhere since leaving us

That he could be on the way out somewhere I’m sure is a possibility. He doesn’t seem to fit in with what Andy Crosby likes to do especially if he plans on persisting with the 3-4-2-1. Wouldn’t let him go though unless there’s a replacement lined up.

With Steven Azalte set to leave Brighton for around £8million we have a 10% sell on clause as they bought him from us back in 2017 - Will be interesting to see if any of the money we get will be invested back into our squad for this window.

In other news, we're still trying to sign Charlie Kelman from QPR, but QPR want a different deal in terms of the fee structure from what I've been told.

We're set to announce the signing of Owen Bevan on loan tomorrow. A centre-back, Welsh under 21 international from Bournemouth.

Would be delighted with him at Bolton
