We're no longer a big fish in this league, financially. We've basically been told that we couldn't afford him. This is despite moving on some high earners in this transfer window and having a pretty small squad.

The Cowleys have made mistakes for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if they jacked it in. Don't seem to be getting the financial support they require to actually get near the top of the table.

If we finish top 10 then they've probably done ok.
They always that one further signing, that's why they left us, we just couldn't fund the players they wanted on deadline day 2019, they left us barely a week after Huddersfield promised them whatever wanted when they were bottom of the championship after they had turned them down.

Pretty happy with our business, we've replaced everyone who needed replacing, made a huge net profit on transfer fees and have a squad strong enough to cope with the backlog of fixtures we have. To get Jamie McGrath and Graeme Shinnie for under 200k combined is excellent business in particular. My only worry is Magennis up front, he was shite on Saturday and isn't a patch on Charlie Wyke.
Magennis was absolutely shite for us too. He won’t hack it when you go up for sure unless he’s 3rd/4th choice. Shinnie is a brilliant signing.

Absolutely love Matete. Hope he does well for them. I've never seen such a fearless young player. Was a joy to watch last season, the only consistent bright spark in a dark season.
He was a quality player and sad to see him go but his career is on an upward projectory and he was out of contract in a few months. I know he did well for you, like another Cod, Nathan Pond
Are you pleased with how your season is so far going, guess you will be disappointed to not make the play offs eh ?

I'm alway skeptical of rumours from ITK'ers with an agenda, especially in the height of unrest, but it is being claimed elsewhere that our budget for next season will be in the region of £2m.

If this is remotely accurate then the Cowley's will surely walk, and we'll be in the midst of anarchy in the stands against our American overlords whilst enduring inevitable relegation.

This is coming from anti Tornante individuals, so i'm taking it with a sincere pinch of salt. Their claims are that the ground improvements are being financed in large part from monies otherwise allocated to the playing budget.

Certainly Danny Cowley's body language and reference to signing the best he could get with what he had available after last nights game, only serve to help the narrative.

One last gasp signing, Dan Butterworth from Blackburn till end of season. Looks a very useful player and here's hoping he helps keep us up !

2 million! Blimey! That's 4th tier standard! Our is around 5!

It does seem too low. A hack rather than a shave. I can understand if the budget is marginally reduced to help other costs.

I think that there's definitely some anti Tornante politics being played out over social media. If enough believe it, then it may help their wish to get them out of the club.

We signed a striker from Bournemouth called Christian Saydee who I’ve never heard of, but their fans say he is excellent.
Time will tell.

I'd take those £2M budget rumours with a pinch of salt, personally. That would be surely be Tornante signing their own death sentence and I can't believe they're that stupid?

Unless they're looking to sell up? I get the feeling that nobody associated with the club is particularly happy at the moment. There is a feeling of stagnation. We're almost five years into their ownership and it feels like the people running the club are just going through the motions and doing the bare minimum to keep the operation going. Failure to win promotion with Jackett. Covid. Forking out millions just to keep the ground open. Just wonder if we're being shopped around.

I think he scored against us in the League Cup this year, though given that news that the manager had agreed to leave dropped at half time that game it became a non event so I don't know how much you want to read into that.

I don't think our budget is much more than £1.7m so to be where we are at the moment along with the cup run is excellent.

The same sources claim that once the ground improvements have been completed, they will sell.

I'm with you. It all whiffs of a bitter jilted lover unable to get over the fact that we sold out our ownership against their wishes.

Pond was absolutely ridiculous for us, was gutted when you kept him that January but totally understandable. Quite why you loaned him out to us anyway, I'll never really get?! Proved to be the right decision for him to go back though.

I was pleased with the first ten or so games of the season, we looked really good but it's been terrible since then overall. There are glimmers of hope though, we've not really been outplayed by anyone but we're struggling to score/put games to bed. I said at the start of the season that playoffs is the aim, so yeah I'd be disappointed if we don't get there. I do think we're a few windows away from being able to mount a serious promotion challenge though.

Agreed. If we go up, I'd like us to sign Stockton. He looked the business against us and is the sort of player who would suit the way we play, excellent at holding the ball up and bringing the attacking midfield into play even if he doesn't score many himself. Wouldn't be too expensive either with a year left at Morecambe. He'll make an excellent signing for someone.

we also got a last minute loan signing, Jack Young from Newcastle, a midfielder.

He was on loan for a bit at Tranmere (only 5 games though). Not expecting him to be earth-shattering as he seemingly has very little experience of first team football, but worth a punt I guess.

And there’s some incredible value if you look hard enough if we do get some good offers. Morley looks a steal at 75k.
As we almost certainly have a sell-on clause, hope Morley is a big success at yours and you make a big profit on him!

Yeah there’s a couple of occasions historically we’ve been linked and I haven’t been that fussed but the last 18 months he’s been incredible so would definitely take him now. He would improve anyone in league 1 I’m sure at the moment

What a player. Honestly, technically fantastic. Looks like he needs to work on a few things physically and positionally but in possession and pinging those raking 40-50 yard balls he looks really good so far. Slotted in like he’s been in the team for years.

Rip up this league next season......Good players are starting to want to come to us again.
If we get offered crazy money for Santos or Dapo i would take it
An Ian evett style comment there that may bite you on the arse.
No one has ripped up this league for some time - it’s very even most seasons.

Yeah most Bolton fans don’t believe we will rip up the league. My main target this season was mid table which I think we will get at a minimum. I think we should be targeting playoffs next year. It’s such a hard league to target autos in. Just look at Pompey, Ipswich, Sunderland, Wigan etc. all stuck down here for a while

No reason why you can’t. Have the capability to be top 6. Start of the season you looked fantastic.

Why didn't Cosgrove work out? He smashed up defences in Scotland at a similar standard to League One. I remember Scunny fans laughing when we signed Lyle Taylor and Cambridge fans having nothing good to say about Joe Pigott so not going to judge Cosgrave by one failed loan.
Mainly down to his attitude. Not only does he think he’s far too good for this level (he really isn’t), he offered out a few Salop fans at the end of the game away at Accrington at the start of the season. Fans have been against him ever since.

Considering he’s a big lad, he can’t win a header if it meant his life depended on it, can’t hold the ball up, can’t shoot. To be honest with you, since watching Salop back in 2003, I’d put him in our top 3 worst loan players that we’ve bought in.

I know that certain players work at certain clubs, that’s always been the way in football. But with Cosgrove and Pyke, I’d bet my mortgage that they’ll be just as shit at both Wimbledon & Scunthorpe.

Its all about predictions.....Best three teams i have seen this year are Wigan, Rotherham and Oxford even though we beat Oxford. Chances are 2/3 of those will be in the Championship next season. Nothing coming up to worry about.....Coming down there may be someone decent but as for the rest of league one its a much of a muchness
Its all about keeping players fit and a bit of luck but like last seasons January window i told everyone who listened we would be the best team in lge 2 second half of the season........With our recruitment i again say we now are the best team in this league

That's a bit worrying, it's hard to train a good attitude in to someone, they basically need to figure that part out for themselves...
Fingers crossed he will learn from the experience at yours and improve, we shall see.

I'd love to know what it was at Aberdeen that made him so effective - he's not exactly pulled up trees anywhere else. With Palmer gone we are very lightweight up front, so really need this to work out or we could be in (even more) trouble..

FWIW, I think Shrewsbury will be fine this year. I was surprised at how solid they were last weekend, and how strongly they came back after going a goal down. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Wigan stuck down here a while? it's our second season since being relegated from the Championship... Last year was our U23's. But I agree with the general point, it is a tough division to get out of. Although we have done it at the first attempt twice in the last 6 years.

Sorry tbh I thought it was your 3rd season this season. And you aren’t out of it yet… but definitely favourites to do so with Rotherham.
