Quietest transfer window ever. Worse for us considering we just got stuffed by Morecambe
Same here, we've lost Connor Hall due to location and let two squad lads go but only signed a loanee from Forest to replace Hall (Looked superb at the weekend). Other than that its dead, no rumours, nothing.

Aaron Collins has got some of our fanbase worried following his instagram post last night, but apart from that we have heard nothing. The silence isnt unusual under the Barton regime but you know what us fans are like!

He’s defensive midfield player, fairly limited I would say technically but as someone to just sit in front of a defence, block passing lanes win the ball back and give it to a more technically proficient player he is excellent

He was a really big part of both of our promotions but got badly injured in the second half of the league 1 season. When he eventually came back after the covid break and was fit he was then a big part of keeping us up by just giving some solidity in the midfield.

Since then he’s had another bad knee injury while on loan at Wigan last season and not played. I’d imagine he will be quite rusty when he does play again. He won’t wow you with his ability or athleticism probably but every side needs players like him who do the simple things well

We've openly said we are taking a breather after such heavy spending and huge progress made in 18 months or so but many fans are annoyed because none of them would have taken a comfortable mid table position of course had it been offered in August!

haha yeah fans always want more.
Even before the last 2 results id not even been bothered about the play offs as we have no chance against any of that top 6. Quite happy to still be in L1 next season and get some good quality in the summer

Well we need to sort the pitch out finally as its a complete mess, we still have work to do on Vale Park to allow increased capacity (believe work needs to be done on our biggest stand to keep it open) so makes sense to direct finance to that at the moment rather than chuck money at a futile play off bid, which whilst could be done would need huge finance to compete with those in the top 6-7 who are chucking loads at it so could risk the long term of the club, plus we are nowhere near ready to go up again infrastructure wise anyway.

I don't believe the club expected promotion last season and planned on it being a two year plan so we are well ahead of where we planned but now need infrastructure to catch up and barring a huge balls up (which is always possible of course) it seems wise to do it now... but not all fans see the bigger picture and want Cole Stockton etc.

He’s technically very good, not the biggest but does actually put himself about a bit as well. Can produce some real moments of quality, been one of our better more consistent performers and there are quite a few I’d clear out before him tbh. I suppose we need to get whoever we can out to make room for all the new signings though.

In other news Bryan Fiabema’s loan from Chelsea has been cut short. Did ok at times, got a bit of pace in behind but wasn’t playing much recently and now we have 5 other loans unlikely that was going to change.

FGR fans. What is Regan Hendry like ?

Pure class, creative, capable, and fast. Not convinced of the wisdom of us loaning him out, for all that we are now quite spoiled for choice when it comes to midfielders. I rate him more highly than Ben Stevenson, for example.

He should be good for you. I'm really glad, from a selfish perspective, he's not been loaned to another team in our division this year.

Quality on football manager haha. Hudds fans don’t rate him but nearly everyone we’ve signed… the fans of his previous club have said he’s awful… Accy fans said Trafford was awful, Millwall fans said Bod was, even Oldham fans etc saying Dapo was crap. Will reserve judgment until I’ve seen him play.

Sounds like just what we need in midfield
Seems like he is still not quite ready for first team football and is staying with us for a couple of weeks for a few reserve games before heading over to you.

Probably needs it as he’s had a long lay off and he can look a bit clumsy when he’s come back from injuries before

Got absolutely abused by us in a recent game with Huddersfield. Nathan Jones straight up said we targeted him as a weak link!
Looking at that game how did you draw that 3-3!?! With 24 shots to 3. Huddersfield are pretty poor this season though and you are chasing the playoffs in the league above us. He obviously will need to be able to defend but our wide centre backs are really important for creating overloads and keeping possession. I assume coming through at city he’ll be able to pass and move. Will judge him anyway when I’ve seen him.

Yeah that was a…frustrating game.

To be fair we targeted him with high balls and had Adebayo and Morris who are very physical forward players bully him a bit. He looked like what he was, a young player getting their first taste of proper football. I’m sure he’ll learn, like you say his football education is top quality.

Technically I recall he was like you say very good, but needed to learn how to deal with an aggressive press and physical play. I doubt there are that many sides at this level who press as aggressively as we did that night, it’s one of the biggest differences in levels from what I’ve seen

I’d rather have had a quiet window like yours from a decent league position tbh. 10 in and 9 out for us so far. Probably not finished yet either. And we’ll still almost certainly go down anyway.

I’m certain we’ve got another midfielder coming in. Don’t know who, mind.

We’ve just sent two of our best young players Tommy McDermott and James Plant on loan to Salisbury. Guess the link would be DC started his managerial career there so doing them a big favour but if we are not bringing anyone in would like to see us start bringing them into our first team setup.
