Looks like we’re set to lose yet another player: Jake Caprice could be coming to a L1/ L2 club soon…

He’s one of these players that’s good to have in the squad but he’s got definitely limitations, such as his final ball is often poo. That said, he’s quick and good one on one defensively.
Off topic.
What happened to caprice ? She dated Tony adams. How random.
I’m sure she said she was in her thirties but clearly much older.

Thought he was crap for us, so was surprised he played so many games at this level. Fair play to him.
Yeah he’s done fine for us really, especially as he’s played a fair chunk of games at LWB too.

As I say he’s limited but is a capable squad player at this level. I reckon he’ll drop into L2 though so that he plays regular football.

Harry McKirdy deal is off after he had to have an operation which has ruled him out for 6 months.

I really haven't seen any substance to this

Been awful in Scotland hasn't he, real one season wonder with Swindon, and much to our delight obviously he missed the pen in the semi final but was woeful for us.

We’ve signed Wealdstone Keeper Sam Howes on a 2 year deal.

Big gamble on our part to pay a fee for a National League keeper, time will tell whether this gamble will be a worthy one.

We’re set to sign Sam Lavelle from Charlton.

Any good Charlton fans? Morecambe fans?

No disrespect but surely Sam Smith has left us for a better move than Port Vale.

To be honest outside of some on our forum saying they think he’d be a good signing I’ve seen nothing to suggest we’ve even spoken with him much less anything else. Good player and would love to have him but like yourself I’d be surprised if he didn’t have a bigger offer if we made one. Only reason I could see in our favour is Wikipedia says he’s from Manchester so maybe move closer to home but still would file it under unlikely.

That said it’s probably more likely than a couple I’ve seen on social media saying we’re signing Troy Deeney so guess we are now in silly season with the rumours.

Alfie May to Charlton is done. £250k!!!

I honestly have to believe that we gave Alfie a handshake deal last year that he gives us a year to get him a replacement and we let him go on the cheap this summer.

Gonna call it now.

I think he’ll be lucky to get into double digits this season.

Just seems the type of player that succeeds at one club but can never recreate it anywhere else. Likely to be one of the reasons why none of the realistic promotion sides were looking at him, and it was mainly mid-to-lower end L1 and L2 clubs genuinely looking at him.

We’ll see anyway.

I've been saying that for a while to be honest. He's thrived as the big fish in the little pond, with little to no expectation on him.

Charlton fans will be on his back by Christmas if he has the same stats as he did the last two seasons (7 goals in 21/22 and 5 last season).

As first choice? Hell of a risk if so. We signed who was widely regarded as one of the best NL GK's when we were in L2 and he wasn't quite good enough in the end.

Seems very low, at least Rovers won't be getting him!

Our board are a joke, 250k ffs. Worth nothing when we get relegated this season.

Just heard Wellens say we've signed another keeper but we can't announce until next week - Its Sol Brynn from Middlesbrough who was on loan at Swindon last season according to the rumours.

I don’t think it’s that bad business tbh. Much better than the alternative of keeping a player around who doesn’t want to be at the club anymore - always best to get a bit of change for them when you can.

Bottom line is, he’s only worth as much as someone is willing to pay and that £250k can be reinvested into the playing squad and club infrastructure - it’s still a decent chunk of money.

Sam Smith rumoured to be coming to us. Don't know much about him.
Closer to home for him, but would have thought he'd be looking at a bigger club if I'm being honest.

He enjoyed his time here and was open to staying if we gave him a big new contract, but big contracts is something we don't really give out so we didn't bother in offering him anything at all. Thought he'd end up at Bolton or Derby. or someone like that.

One last thing I'd say is he was very hot and cold form wise last season.

Guess it would depend on money if he was in talks (no idea on if the rumour is true or not).

We’ve been beating competition to signings so far and been fairly aggressive in getting targets, part of the reason we cut costs in January was allegedly to save for a summer window and we’ve made 3-400k, the striker signing is crucial to get right though as we need to replace Wilson, Taylor and Proctor.
