Yep, indeed he did. It was a top class goal and he scored another absolutely brilliant goal vs Lincoln in the play offs, however, he barely troubled the scoring charts otherwise. Always felt like he should be contributing more in an attacking sense.

I honestly wouldn’t be sad to see any of the current squad go. The only one I’ve mixed feelings on is Moxon, because although he’s been poor this season, I do think he has more to offer and is playing well beneath himself. So there should be more to come.

That's a bit of a harsh thing to say, especially since they were the ones who got us promoted.
It's a higher level for them in L1 and turns out they're just not good enough, that's all what it is, so no need to slag them off like that.

Some of them simply aren’t pulling their weight, it’s not just a case of them not being good enough. They aren’t, but it’s more than that. Surely Simpson and the coaching staff take the blame too.
They sign/ select the players and work on tactics and formations.
We have some decent players with plenty of L1 experience, Simpson ain't getting the best out of them currently.

I agree, the fact I think the players aren’t playing to their potential means some criticism has to be directed towards Simpson and his staff. I’m not anywhere near the Simpson out stage like some are though.

I do think the squad is bottom 4 standard, but I also think they should be capable of better than 3 wins and 1 clean sheet in 24 games.

He’s good on his day, and he’s had about 5 of those days this season which is more than a lot of our players have had. But again if someone offered good money I’d take it as I think we could do with a more consistent player in his position.

Reading between the lines, I think players have been put off over the last few weeks seeing how bad we are and how far cut adrift we are of safety. Players know that if they sign they are more than likely signing up to play in league 2 next season and that is no doubt off putting.

Can only go off our game against you and the highlights show but your quickest fix would be to identify a decent quality keeper. Easiest way to earn yourselves some extra points then can press on with a rebuild in the summer.

It is true in fairness that January is notoriously hard for deals or at least ones you don’t have to overpay for and maybe a couple of punts on U23 loans. That’s why I’m expecting a pretty quiet one for us. If anything we might see more action out the door than in it.

We've been linked with half of league 2 today. But I'm starting to think that Simpson hasn't managed to convince anybody (other than Armstrong) to join us yet - he sounded frustrated in his last interview. Still hoping to have a couple more through the door before the Exeter game.

Rumours also heating up about a couple of players wanting away. It's going to be a long January...

I don’t think this season is salvageable. The team is that bad and ineffective. We need 11 new players and even if we got them they’d have to settle in and gel together etc. By then it would be February/march and we’d probably be 12-15 points adrift. Forget staying up, it’s just not going to happen, this squad we have isn’t capable of winning a game in this league and by the time reinforcements arrive we’ll be even further behind.

Armstrong is a signing who will be useful next season in League 2. A few more of those types and I think we can have a good go at bouncing back next season. That’s what we need to be looking at realistically.

Also some players need time to make the step up. Antony Evans was class in L2 from the first game he played, but last season looked like he wasnt good enough for L1.
This season he is back to being class again.

Yes i put Conlon in the same category as Evans for us last season.
This season has been totally different though and he is probably right up there with Luke Thomas as our best player. Maybe you should have played him into form as he is a quality player?

We only have two out and out strikers at the football club and both are out for months. I think that was irresponsible of Bonner and the recruitment team in the summer but we’re lucky it’s happened running up to the Jan transfer window.

I think we’ll need two strikers this January but getting the right one is going to be very difficult.

Branthwaite looks a decent young player......Doubt he will go for anything like 100m more like he will stay another couple of seasons or move for 20/30m Then you will have to pay tax and vat on any fee received

Not even making the bench ahead of 16 year olds from the academy is a sign their futures would lie elsewhere. As I say in the case of Conlon I’d expect Cheltenham to be favourites to sign him with DC there. Unfortunately not quite recovered to the point he was at pre-achilles injury.

Seems like one player is coming in this week. Most likely is attacking midfielder Luke Harris on loan from Fulham who we were supposed to sign on the summer deadline but the deal was never completed. Seems a #highlyrated chap but can’t feel we need more experienced players.

Another player who’s been mentioned is Joe Taylor from Luton who’s been recalled from his loan at Colchester. Scored 12 goals in 27 so would be a decent signing.
