If James does well, we'll have him back. That much is well known.

Everyone knows MacAnthony doesn't give away good strikers!

The beauty of this loan deal is that you cannot recall him. He's here for a season, and if he makes his mark and does well for the club, then I'm imagine we'll go in for him.

However, still a lot of football to be played in the interim.

Every player has a price.
Unless you're going to pay what Peterborough payed Hartlepool then it's a non-starter. Even then everyone knows what they are like at selling good strikers.

James isn't particularly great but he may be one of these players who suits a club more than another club.

I am growing concerned by the lack of incoming transfers and firmly believe we are in for a long hard season. Most fans think we are now a lower mid table team. Couple of injuries and we will be in a relegation battle next season.

Tbh, if he knocks in 20 goals next season, we'll most probably go back to Peterborough with a decent offer - as will most clubs I imagine.

We did try to buy the lad before his move to Peterborough, and also from Peterborough two weeks ago - instead we're rumoured to have paid £75k for a season long loan, of which I don't think is too shabby for all concerned.

There's no way we will buy him.

Say he has a decent season and scores 12 goals, which judging by his stats would be very decent for him. Posh will be looking for £300k plus for him as he's got half his contract left for them. There's no way Parky or our board will pay that for 12 goals a year when there are cheaper options. But looking back paying £75k for 12 goals will be seen as solid business especially if it gets us in the play-offs.

If he scores 20 then Posh won't sell him or they'll put £2m on his head or something daft.

And if he turns out shit we won't be buying him anyway.

Can any Sheff United fans tell me what Ben Davies is like these days? Supposedly offered him a contract & deciding between us & Pompey.

What's he like? Heard this last night from a pretty reliable source.
He's excellent, great player. Did well for us up front and out on the wife left.

Maybe a little too raw for the Championship, but we will have to wait and see.

Just before anyone questions it, I didn't wish any illness upon Dion'sHead, and would never do so. It makes it even more ironic that I have have a member of family fall victim to cancer this year, but he still carries on to spout shite and throw wild accusations.

As for the other ongoings - I feel deeply sorry for you Joe. Avoid the Nuneaton match if possible.

Aussie midfielder Ryan Edwards on trial with us. Former Reading, played in the A-league in Oz last year. Never heard of him.

Apparently our rag have said Vale have that donkey Uche on trial.
It used to be abit of a joke that the PVFC scouting system was just a bloke at Gresty rd looking for our cast offs but its not far off right nowerdays.

We've got former Tottenham attacking midfielder Ruben Lameiras on trial. Just played the first half against Nuneaton.

The one you lot were creaming over and suicidal when he went Donny...

If we wanted him that badly we'd have signed him up by now. However a crap first touch, godawful finishing and the fact we ended up having a one dimensional game plan of hoofing the ball up to him during our disastrous end of season run-in has meant we're looking elsewhere. No surprise for the final few games of the season he wasn't even a starter.

When Uche had confidence he was still a bag of shite, his only use being that due to his frame he was such a threat to bog standard League One defenders it allowed Nicky Ajose to prosper, soon as Uche goes Donny Ajose gets exposed for the limited striker he is too.

a good proportion of those cast offs have gone on to excel in the black and white, Marc Richards, Tom Pope, Tony Naylor, Michael O'Connor, Gary Roberts (when sober), Byron Moore was superb when his personal tragedy has passed.

We haven't done too badly out of it

Marc Richards wasn't one of our cast-offs despite a brief loan spell with us. Apart from Tony Naylor (who was hardly a cast off given we sold him for money and who truly excelled in the second tier) none have ever played higher than this division after leaving us save for Michael O'Connor's spell with Championship minnows Scunthorpe. I wouldn't call that excelling, just a mish-mash of third/fourth division footballers who have no chance of playing higher in the footballing pyramid.

Gaz Roberts wanted out of the slums so badly he engineered his own move to Mansfield.

So Pope breaking multiple club records and firing us to promotion wasn't excelling in the Vale shirt?
