You honestly don't think there's much difference between you and teams in the Championship? Ok.

The only team you're anywhere near in the Championship is Rotherham, and they've been considerably better for a while. Bristol Rovers - Oxford is similar though, it's certainly not a step up, nor is it a step down.

I had Burton and Rotherham in my head, Barnsley as well. I don't think any of them are significantly bigger than us or Rovers, no.

Take a step back. Barnsley have never been non league and always will be a much bigger club than Oxford.

Didn't say we were. Said a club we outnumbered by about 10k at Wembley last season weren't 'significantly bigger'.

Barnsley went there twice last year. The considerable cost to what is a lower wage area would have an impact on their attendance. Also, I think there is a considerable difference in the distances to cover and Oxford not having much to shout about in recent years would bring the worms out.

Can't really use a one-off event after years in the doldrums as evidence.

It's amazing the psychic people of Barnsley are on such low incomes in my opinion. Predicting Wembley before they'd even made the playoffs.

That's cos like many of us supporters in the division, they knew they had a good team in the last half of the season.

I've had to look into this now to improve my understanding of the colossal Barnsley Football Club.

Average league position of 42nd and an average attendance of 8k last year in League One, vs 51st and 7k in League Two.

That doesn't say 'Significantly Bigger Club' to me. Bearing in mind the context to this discussion... if the latter was my hometown club (or the one I'd made my name at), offering me more money and good prospects, in a far more desirable geographical area; I'm not sure Barnsley would be particularly alluring.

He'll go to a bigger club than any of the five in my post anyway I'd have thought.

Barnsley are not a colossal club, just bigger than Oxford. Think you should read your 3rd para again and repeat 100 times; "what a pratiam".

We signed two players yesterday.

It's reported that both are out injured for a little while but both important enough to get the deals done now.

No names given but Chuks Aneke and Rob Hall are the obvious assumptions due to their current injury status and the fact we've linked with them both all summer.

Two quality additions, just a back up/alternative centre forward and a big ugly first ball centre half that owns the six yard box to go now.

Ha, hardly a huge difference in size is there? Between Rovers, Oxford or any of the Championship bottom dwellers.

I'm guessing Matty Taylor's priorities would be ... Money, Location, Club/Personal Development... We'll offer plenty of money, his hometown and he'll take over a lad's status that we've just sold for £3m to one of the biggest clubs in the country.

I'm not saying we'll get him, but it's a more exciting proposition than you're suggesting.
Haha, you're one of the Oxford fans on Twitter who're saying that they don't think Bristol City is a step up from Oxford, aren't you?

I'm not going to go into why Rovers are a bigger club, but they are, and I'd say there's a significant difference between you and some of the teams who were at the bottom of the championship last season.

To be honest I don't see why Barnsley are massively bigger than Oxford, yes they are slightly bigger but Oxford aren't that much smaller.

Nope, course it is! I've been pretty clear about my definitions I think - would like to hear yours as well, but up to you. Hardly anything in it I'd say, few extra people through the door at Rovers, never won anything bigger than the third tier. They're bigger but they're not a more attractive option than Oxford at this moment in time.

Last season? I've already clarified the teams I meant. I'm not discussing bloody Barnsley again either.

Think O'Dowda to Bristol City is a good move for all parties now. He'll be a terrific player, just needs to learn the game really. Final ball's improved no end over the last twelve months, and he's got all the attributes to go as high as he wants. If it's around the £850k-£1m mark plus add-ons, it's a good deal all round.

Disappointed to see Collo leave and sign for Crawley.

This and the departure of Knight-Percival leave two big holes to fill this summer.
Me too, we will have to wait and see what the next few weeks brings to us!

Was quite surprised when I saw Crawley had signed James Collins, should have enough goals in him to keep Crawley out of trouble.

Some Irish paper was saying we were in for that O'Dowda bloke the other month, can't see it myself now we've signed Pringle, Robinson and Doyle, especially if he's costing around a million.

We initially had Ronan Murray training with us just to bring up his fitness but he seems to be have been our best player over the first couple of friendlies and got himself on the scoresheet and seems as though Brown is considering offering him a deal. Notts County fans??

We had him on loan during the DiCanio era. Was ok from memory, quite small and popped up with a few goals. Not an out and out goalscorer but busy and tidy. Doesn't seem to have progressed that much really though.

Possibly so. 10k per year at Birmingham, do you think he cares if he plays or not? Some players are wired differently.

He's instigating a move from Blackpool to Bradford - I call that ambition. ;)
If he was only on 10k a year at Birmingham his agent should be sacked.

A 12th signing today/tomorrow, not English... need a winger and a centre half IMO so hopefully one of them!

Transfer request accepted. Bit pissed off that we rescued him from the depths of playing as a bit part winger for League 2 bound Shrewsbury and he hasn't signed a 1 year extension to gain us some extra cash, but understanding that he was always going to want to leave and he has helped us as much as we have helped him. Club made it perfectly clear that he won't be going anywhere unless a valuation is matched.

£750k+ would presumably be the amount.

It's a sour way to end a spell at a club where all of the fans idolise you. A spit in their faces as you force your way out. I understand why and I wish him the best but there was better ways to go about it than this.

I'm happy the club are sticking to their valuation though. Let him sit at home until a club cough's up 750k+ add ons and sell ons.

Personally, I'd only accept £750k+ 25% add-ons. Let's make the club coming for him pay heavily in add-ons so that if he does have a miracle run in the Championship we finally earn a hefty sell on clause that has been avoiding us for years with Paterson, Deeney, Dann and so on.

If Bradshaw gets in a huff about it, sell him to the bidder furthest away - Brighton, Newcastle etc so that he has to up and move his life away, take a big risk and there's a higher percentage chance of him handing a transfer request in biting him on the arse.
