Sort of on topic but we brought in a Lad called liandro martis on trial a few weeks back after he had impressed on previous trials at Barrow and tranmere. Turns out he had now been offered a contract by Leicester and a trial by Manchester United. From Barrow to United, good luck to the lad.

We have offered him a contract but somehow I don't think we will be hearing back.

Looks like we're set to announce Nicholls of Wigan coming in today.

Jon Taylor moving from Posh to Rotherham. Barry Fry confirms we were interested so guess he was the attacking midfielder previously mentioned.

Palace forward Keshi Anderson remains our number 1 target according to the local rag but any loan deal is unlikely to take place before the start of the season and more like the end of August.

I wonder where Sullay Kaikai will end up, too.

I would imagine back to league 1 again Jockney, unless Palace think he needs a shot in the Championship.

Even as recently as a couple of years ago you'd have imagined he'd get that shot, but with the money floating around in that league now...

Great for the quality and spectacle of this year but very poor for mobility. You need a Demin or a Benham or long-term you have no chance up there.

Has he ever done anything outside of his time at Stockport?

Yep. Did well at Motherwell in his short time there but because he's a bit of a knob he fell out with the chairman and captain and got sacked. Was at Peterborough for a short time and did well and was offered a 4yr deal. Got time at Northwich Vics, and look what he did there, he's their best ever manager and got them to the FA cup 2nd round.

Why can't you accept he's a good manager despite him being forced out at Vale?

How can that be so? What has he achieved? 1 promotion via the playoffs is it?

Wherever he's gone he has rubbed people up the wrong way and generally finished his time at each club with the sack. He even managed this feat at Stockport and he is supposed to be a legend there

Good luck keeping him interested. Had potential to be a decent player but just never looked arsed. Played good for us on his debut against donnie in the champ but all down hill from there was a bloody expensive signing too.

Justin Edinburgh is obviously looking at someone from Palace, he's been spotted at their friendly last night and one last week. Anderson, Kaikai or Ladapo I would imagine.

Also a rumour that Anton Ferdinand could be joining.

Midfielder Ousmane Fane joins Oldham from Kidderminster for £50k plus add one.

Looked really good last night against Man Utd U23s, as did other recent non league recruit Darius Osei, a livewire striker we've bought from Stalybridge.

According to a reliable local paper. It is £10K upfront, then another £10K after a certain amount of time, then another £10K after more time, then apperance fees that would take it up to £50K, then we also have a sell on fee to take it past £50K.

Interesting feedback about Barnett - I have noticed when he plays against us previously he shows moments of brilliance and then just goes missing.

We have a manager with a proven track record of getting the best out of players with our most recent being Lyle Taylor who is now being scouted by Championship teams.

Neal Ardley creates an environment where the team is everything and they have to work hard all the time to be in the starting line up - I think we will get the best out of Barnett and if it does fail, we got him on a free so no major financial loss for us.

Saved the worst team in the football league from relegation, then took us on a record breaking run the season after, the season after he gets us promoted, the season after we would have finished top half in league one if it weren't for admin. If it weren't for admin I am 100000000% sure we'd be in the championship now, so from league 2 relegation certainties to league one play off contenders show he did an unreal job.

Yes he's a bit of a prick, hence why he got sacked at Motherwell, but he did well there, as he did at Peterborough, he got time at Northwich and transformed them. Came back to us and saved us from relegation in the conference premier, before being undermined, (he didn't fall out with anyone) which lead to him getting sacked. 3rd spell with us we went 1 win in 17 and were heading towards the bottom 3 and within 6 weeks he's turned us into play off challengers.

He's one of the highest qualified managers outside the Prem, ex players say he's one of the best managers they've worked for.

If he wasn't a twat, he'd be managing in league one minimum at the minute.

We are preparing an improved bid for Josh Maggenis according to our local paper.

I do like that someone who was barely in their early teens during those Stockport County Golden Years can say with absolute certainty that Gannon would have got them up for DEFOS if not for admin. For starters, that squad was hyped to the moon and back by Stockport fans at the time, but only Tommy Rowe and Antony Pilkington made it beyond this level and only the latter actually achieved anything in that time. Additionally, the side that briefly crashed the top six was inconsistent and never staked a solid claim on a top six position even before the admin business reared its ugly head.

For added context, Leicester City won the league that season and Posh with CMS, Boyd and McLean finished 2nd. The following season, Norwich City and Leeds United went up automatically, we beat a Swindon Town side containing Charlie Austin to win the play-offs at Wembley, and Charlton Athletic and moneybags Huddersfield finished in the top six.

When exactly was Gannon going to mastermind this impressive League One promotion feat?

They were similar in a way to the current Rochdale side. Good young players and a good manager who could upset a few sides but not good enough to make the top six.

I personally think you are right LJ, even though Nicholls had a far from inspiring loan spell with us last season.

He made a good few mistakes and it was frustrating to watch because there is clearly a decent goalkeeper in there somewhere. I was really pleased when we signed him given how he performed for you at L2 level a couple of years earlier, but his confidence never really recovered after a poor start and that was that.

He returned to Wigan after his loan spell and there was part of me wishing we'd keep him as I knew he'd get better, but unfortunately he hadn't done enough to warrant one. If we had signed him as was rumoured we could at the time, I suspect the goalkeeping problem we have now wouldn't be an issue.

but he did well there, as he did at Peterborough,

No he didn't we still got relegated and he started dropping our best player!

Plus he had a toxic attitude and was supposedly hated by everyone at the club. Was very happy to see the back of him.
