I can see why you'd say that Bobbin', but there is definitely much more to this deal than meets the eye.

Darrell Clarke implies as much in his interview today. He said something along the lines of 'I know exactly why only one Championship club came in for him, but I'll keep that to myself', before glancing tellingly at the camera to further suggest there was some dodgy dealings involved.

It says in the EFL rules and regulations that a release clause has to remain confidential. Neither a player nor his agent can tell any potential suitors how much the release clause is. The £300k price was quoted in the gossip column of the Daily Mail (I think) a couple of months ago, suggesting that somebody had been loose lipped and spilled the beans as to how much the fee was - you would assume the agent, be it directly or indirectly through another source. This then 'alerted' City to the price they needed to meet in order to speak to Taylor. Rovers have made it very clear that Taylor asked for this move, almost as if he knew it was going to happen...

It isn't beyond the realms of possibility that certain information was leaked so that City knew how much they'd have to pay, without being 'told' directly what the fee is by Taylor or his representative.

(For any City fan who inevitably reads this, I'm not personally clutching at straws because I want to forget about the whole sorry thing now, but it does appear to me that something underhand went on here. I don't think the EFL will be able to prove it though.)

Don't see the point in a release clause if no one is allowed to know about it. We've just signed a striker as we knew about his clause and I can immediately think of 2 internationals that we lost due to Middlesbrough and Wednesday knowing about their clauses.

I've not seen him play in recent years. However, he came to us on loan whilst still a teenager a few years back. He was one of the few bright sparks in a poor season, so much so that he won young player of the year after just half a season playing for us. Quite a few Dons supporters were disappointed that we didn't sign him permanently. Rumours went round that it wasn't a financial issue, but it may have been attitude. All I know is that he was a good little player and exciting to watch.

So it's the daily mail, that owns the Bristol Post reporting Alternative facts to sell papers and make a story from its own suspicions and making links. This is the first season that non-league clubs have been included in the ruling.

Emergency loans don't exist anymore, except for goal keepers (with their own little complications - ask Luton).

The FIFA rule is:

"Players may be registered for a maximum of three clubs during the period from 1 July until 30 June of the following year. During this period, the player is only eligible to play in Official Matches for two clubs."

In relation to loans, FIFA are not happy but EFL and FA have put "Emergency Loans" outside these rules and there have been a number of players appearing for 3 or more clubs.

There's no problem with the 3 registrations.

Since Cox hasn't played for Orient this season (actually he has ), appearing for only 2 clubs is not a problem. If he had, then his registration with Leatherhead (edit; Burgess Hill - bloody Bullard in the Tinpot Thread distracted me) would have to be accepted by the EFL as an emergency loan rather than the standard loan outside the EFL that it appears to be. EFL new rules are:

You can register for three so you can sign a player, say, at the end of August that played for another club and then loan him immediately out to another club for the season. Happens quite a lot in the Premier League.

What is really bizarre is that if Bondz's contracted was annulled by Gillingham, he could re-sign for Eastleigh and then be loaned out to another National League club.

I believe it is below National League that the rule doesn't apply which is why Crawley had to send Dean Cox on loan to a team that level or below when they signed him from Orient.

Not in the FL, but they do at NL level and below, and it was with reference to Tubbs spell at that level with Woking I was referring to.

The reason that Crawley couldn't play him until the New Year was because of him being released outside of a window. The reason that they had to loan him under National League level was to avoid him playing for three clubs at National League level or above.

Despite being on a season long loan, JET has been fucked off back to QPR for being the laziest bastard in the Football League with rumours of other unprofessional off-pitch behaviour circulating, but even without those, I'm glad he's gone.

We may be shit, but bloody hell why such a talented player is intent on torpedoing his own career in such spectacular fashion by just not giving a fuck is beyond me.
