Schumacher wanted Jack Whatmough in January but we were short on cover. He'll be available this summer though, only has one year left on his deal.

Can see us touting Will Keane to L1 clubs, too.
Which club did Scumacher want Whatmough to sign for...........He was unemployed the whole window

The club was already in discussions with Etete at Cardiff.......Sanctioned by Chris Markham. Schumacher had no imput in the three days until the season closed.
He will have a say on who he brings in this season but that job is mainly down to Fergal Harkin who we have head hunted from Standard Leige

Must have just been your recruitment team then, you were keen on Whatmough, so probably will be again.

You have 36 players whose contract was already beyond the end of the season? I know a few are youth players, but even so.

Been drinking today? Riis rejected our offer and supposedly has a Bundesliga club lined up, Sunderland linked in January, don't think he'll be joining Bolton somehow.

I make it 26 of those are genuine first team players. Unquestionably a big issue has been the management and squad planning has been poor m, some of its circumstantial as we had a crazy set of long term injuries from the last months of the PL season hanging around well into last season but it’s still silly that the likes of Woodrow are still under contract

Of those listed it does seem the club are in talks to come to a mutual parting of the ways (I’d think Hashioka, Woodrow and perhaps Nakamba will be in that group) and I’d imagine Doughty, Mengi, Aasgaard, Chong, Kaminski will be sold

Looks good in lge 1....Would certainly do a job for us.....Not sure if you would spend a 7 figure sum on one unproven in the Championship.
A few have had a look from the championship but he is still there

Not sure I buy the link. We have Thordarson who is quality in a deep midfield role, and Ben Whiteman who also plays deep.

Unless we're trying to offload Whiteman, this would seem a weird signing.

Galbraith at Orient would be my pick to sign out of the midfielders in this league. We're always linked to Adam Phillips at Barnsley as well because he's a PNE fan.

First new signing confirmed as Max Power. Very good pedigree at league 1 and Championship level with Wigan.

Signed from Danish club Aarhus.

Reminds me of the Sarcevic signing made this time last year.

He was always quite good but seems to have been around forever. Remains to be seen whether playing in what you would imagine is a pretty poor Danish league has set him back a little. Good experience at 31 though and decent pedigree.

Played for AGF, who finished third behind Midtjylland and Copenhagen - even finished above Randers and Brøndby. Call it poor but it’ll be a better level than L1/L2.

I honestly don't know what the point of us having (around) 55 professional footballers at our disposal at the end of August.

A lot of these will be playing development football, clearly. We are in the process of upgrading our academy status to Cat 2, so we want to demonstrate a pathway is there for the U21s, akin to a top 30-40 club and this is probably part of that.

The first transfer rumours involving Luton.

Inbound - Ronan Hale, a 26 year old ROI U21 international who scored 12 goals in the SPFL for Ross County this season. Reading are also rumoured to be interested. Never heard of him.

Outbound - Mads Andersen is interesting Malmo. He hasn't got a future here, but if we can get £1M for him that would be a fair fee. That would be a huge loss on the £3M reportedly paid 2 years ago.

Also, Lamine Fanne is interesting teams in La Liga. Luton reportedly paid around £3.5M in August but didn't join until January. He has done reasonably well, but only came into his own in the last 8-10 games. He is definitely not Spanish top level ready now, but has the potential to play top tier football in the future.

It’s weird because I think some players who have been poor might be decent at L1 level. Andersen being one of those. Bit like you say it’s probably done here as it’s been a disaster of a move for him with his injuries, probably just needs a change for both parties.

Was disappointed in Fanne to be honest, got to say I never saw him “coming into his own” at all. For me he had maybe 1 half decent game against Coventry.

Think we never really played him on his best position or in a role he was used too as he was a classic DM sitter in Sweden, I could see him having a decent career at some point and us all scratching our heads as to what went wrong here

We've only just announced our retained/release list.

I feel like Vokes has been so injury-prone in his last couple of seasons that he may yet hang up his boots, but nothing has been announced.

Don't know why we're getting rid of Kieran Sadlier as he has been decent but it may be an injury record thing.

Joe Low will clearly not sign a new contract, too good and had Champ interest last season.

I'm sure Ainsworth at Gillingham will be sniffing around Brandon Hanlan although the latter did previously play for Gills and I'm not sure he left under the best circumstances, so who knows.

Even for the ones retained, I suspect we will be looking to move some of them on, the likes of Hartridge, Tafazolli and Bakinson.

New contracts offered:

Fin Back
Jahiem Dotse
Joe Low
Jack Matton
Laurie Shala

Leaving the club:

Taylor Clark
Brandon Hanlan
Beryly Lubala
Franco Ravizzoli
Adam Reach
Kieran Sadlier
Sam Vokes
Christie Ward
Luca Woodhouse
Jack Young

Under contract:

Tyreeq Bakinson
Jaiden Bartolo
James Berry
Matt Butcher
Ryan Cole
Shamal George
Jack Grimmer
Anders Hagelskjaer
Alex Hartridge
Dan Harvie
Richard Kone
Luke Leahy
Alex Lowry
Garath McCleary
Will Norris
Fred Onyedinma
Jasper Pattenden
Jonny Pettitt
Brody Peart
Josh Scowen
Declan Skura
Ryan Tafazolli
Dan Udoh
Magnus Westergaard

Returning to parent clubs at end of loan spells:

Sonny Bradley
Cameron Humphreys
Gideon Kodua
Xavier Simons
Caleb Taylor

We've signed 21 year old Jack Perkins from Nottingham Forest's Academy on a two year deal. More than a prospect than League 1 pedigree at this stage, he recently played in their Premier League International Cup against Lyon alongside Ben Perry who returned to their team after completing a fairly succesful loan spell with us. Perry was signed on the last day of the window as an 18 year old with no football league experience in what was seen as being a cover option/panic loan, but stepped into the team following the long-term injury of Liam Shaw and did enough in the team to take us through to safety. If Perkins ends up as good as Perry as well as being on the books a permanent, I'll be more than happy.

Club stalwalt Jon Guthrie has signed a new contract for another year with an option of a following one in the clubs favour depending on appearences. Jon's been consistently one of our best players for the last 4 seasons, but has been out since January with an injury. Mitch Pinnock and Aaron McGowan are also considering contracts, but the talk is that both have been offered good terms by other League One teams, Pinnocks in terrms of wages and McGowan in terms of a longer contract length. Pinnock won POTS for us, but admittedly in a year where no-one super stood head and shoulders above anyone else. I don't think he'd be good enough for any promotion chasing team, messes up the simple stuff too often for that, but has a good delivery in him and has been amount the top assisters for 4 years plus as well. No names on who the other interested parties are.

Fosu has confusingly not been let go or offered a contract, simply sitting in the grey area of 'conversation are ongoing'. This has been taken to mean that he will likely only be offered something is he agrees to buy in and improve his effort levels, as he has been critisied by Nolan for not really applying himself behind the scenes.

12 have left, Tyler Magloire, Jack Sowerby, James Wilson, Nik Tzanev, Ali Koiki, Liam McCarron, Harvey Lintott, Akin Odimayo, Will Hondermarck, TJ Eyoma, Reuben Wyatt. There is a group in there who are lower league one, upper league two level in Tzanev, Magloire, Sowerby, Koiki, Odimayo and Eyoma but have all been top consistently injured to be kept other than Tzanev, and the rest may struggle to get a new football league contract.

On top of the 11 exiting are 7 loanees returning to their parent clubs (including two who haven't played since January). The squad was super heavy due to having up to 12 at a time injured, so not all will be replaced, but after Brady's tenure which was very loyal and had very few signings, there is going to be a much bigger turn around to fill in for the 18 who have left.

No mention of any player transfers in so far, but a very important signing as first team coach.

Welcome home Richard Wood, if he's as good a coach as he was a leader on the field, we wont go far wrong.

Not a player move but seems our “Head of scouting operations” Paul Chappell has joined Charlton as their head of recruitment. He left us a while ago and much needed too given how bad we have been at recruitment for a while now

He’s worked with NJ here, Stoke and a couple of other places so they are clearly a good match together.

I think it’s pretty apparent given how bad we have been in the market that a lot of our recruitment success was largely based on NJ and his particular personality than anything structural to do with us. It’s noticeable that the windows under Edwards (bar the first Jan window after NJ left which was good), Graeme Jones were nowhere close to any of the NJ windows
