Saville would be a great signing for anybody in this league......Best of luck getting anything like that for Mengi....Clubs know you are in the last year of your parachute money and you will have to off load him sooner or later.......Your better or should i say highest earners need off loading for whatever you can get for them
None if very few will fancy staying around in lge1
I'd doubt that Mengi would be a super high earner in comparison to others. He wasn't brought in with the intention of being a starter on day 1. We just saw upside much quicker than what we probably expected.

He's still probably on around £12.5K/week at this level.

You also conveniently forget we're owned a billionaire family, that helps a bit...

None of the revenue streams you mention even come close to half of £9m either. Also, didn't realise you averaged 26,000+ last season....

But carry on making up complete and utter shite. It'd be nice if you used some fucking grammar though.
You cannot rely on a owner who wants to pull out of funding you.......Billionaires own quite a few lge 1 clubs, but very few are funding them to the extent the Hemmings family are funding you...........I will repeat myself because it does not seem to register with you.......you are NOT getting 9m more television money than Bolton, you are not getting the turn over we are getting per year and your wage bill far exceeds ours and we are losing money hand over fist.
The Championship is no god to any club who stay there season after season.......Without the Hemmings money your clubs fucked, you better hope he sticks around

You are fine this season and can carry players on that wage, but you may be better cutting your cloth this season and trying to save a bit of the parachute money for the next few seasons

Not to sure about Saville myself, was hoping we would go younger and athletic types in similar vein too Aasgaard/Alli. That central midfield area was a massive, massive issue last season. Still at least he seems robust going off his appearance totals for Millwall, not the usual crock on the cheap like Baptiste.

as I’ve said to you before, we have literally no idea about contracts these players have and what clauses were put in for relegation. Given we haven’t exactly splashed cash and have struggled to recruit, a major gripe amongst a lot of fans I’m thinking most aren’t on as big a wage as you would think.

Mengi when signed was touted as a bit of punt/one for the future type who turned out better than expected so he won’t be on a big wage. 8m is a bit fanciful though I’ll grant. Think we turned down over double that last summer from Torino which was a huge mistake in hindsight.

Who says they want to pull out? And without an owner any football club is fucked. Your relentless bullshit is impressive.

This is some tangent from you signing some guy from Wrexham.

Think you are certainly fav at the moment to get out of this league, but you do not want players who will play very few games and pick up decent wages.....wow i did not know you had turned that sort of money down.
Easy with hindsight, but you would have had aspirations of bouncing straight back to the premiership.
Norways manager has made keeping Aasgaard difficult for you, but you should double or treble your money on him.

I don't recall us turning down £16M+ for Mengi last summer - if that did happen, I would stand corrected. A bid came in from Torino for a derisory loan-to-buy option which simply wouldn't have helped us in the short term. Around that time, having had a very decent PL season, qualified for England on the verge of the U21 squad, I'd have been pushing for around £20M.

I've no idea what we'd sell him for now. Burnley are one of around 3 clubs that are currently interested, but Luton have no need to sell him on the cheap considering our financial position. Even more so considering MUFC get a sizeable chunk anyway.

You will simply have four/five players who will throw their toys out the pram and force moves way.....Not a chance will they drop to league one, better cutting your losses with them
Last thing you need is players moping around the club.....You have enough money to clear the ship and get a few top end league one players and get yourself back in the championship.

Yeah I was wrong about that and misremembered. It was Loan with an option to buy that could ultimately rise to 10m having gone back and looked.

Some talk on our forum that Stockport are after Will Keane. Struggled with injury last season and generally looked off the pace, so probably needs to drop back down a league. I think he'd still do well in League One.

Signed Kal Naismith permanently. Was on loan for the latter part of last season. Good experienced left sided centre half - always felt he’s better in a back 3 than a 4 though.

Very good signing for L1 level. Again, another leader.

Will be in the running for the captaincy next season.

We’ve signed Rico Richards on a 2 year deal today. Had him on loan from Villa all of last season and got something about him, often helped swing a game in our favour from the bench and loves to take on defenders. Needs to show he can do it for more than 20-30 minutes though now we are moving up a level.

Anyone else got tumbleweed?

Yes (other than departures) but contracts don't even run out till the end of the month, so not worried.

Looks like a bunch of clubs are in for Brandon Hanlan (Vale, Donny, Cobblers).

I think he'd be a decent signing. On his day, he's unplayable...just that that day only comes around one game in 4.

For Vale fans, I think there's a slight comparison to be had with Ikpeazu. Hanlan's quicker, but slightly less of a unit...but they both have that odd aspect of looking like they're not really sure what they're going to be doing with the ball at times, which is confusing for defenders too...

So don't expect a goal blitz from him, but there is a reasonable lower L1/upper L2 player in there.

I recall Hanlan tearing us apart in a 3-0 a couple of seasons back at VP but then we always play awful against you at home in recent times so can't take a lot from that. I don't think we could stomach another Uche! after last season but he would probably be coming in without a guarantee to start if we signed him as Stockley is generally the talisman and the hope if Tolaj brings up his hot form into L1, then we've also got the decision of what we do with Ruari Paton who we paid good money for but was loaned out at Christmas after failing to make an impact (harshly in some eyes) and Ronan Curtis we generally use as a striker on top of that.

We’ve officially announced George Saville. 32 year old midfield player most recent of Millwall, apparently they offered him reduced terms so decided to leave.

Millwall fans seem positive on him but I sort of hoped we would go younger and athletic in this area.

I do think it’s noticeable that both of the first signings we have made in Naismith and now Saville seem “good character/leader” types. Was clearly chronically lacking last season imo. But do hope we start ship some players out soon and invest in some “young and hungry” types next up

Have to admit when I first saw this on Twitter did the usual Wikipedia scouting and his goals record was giving me Ryan Loft PTSD. Definitely need more forward options to back up Stockley and Tolaj.

Seems like it would be back up to Stockley which wouldn't be a bad thing. We're not going to get an amazing striker to come in as back up and if we wanted someone to be much better than Stockley, you're looking at big bucks. I think our main money should be spent at centre half.

In fairness to Hanlan we played him more as a winger than an out and out striker.

He’s more of a footballer than Loft (a low benchmark I know) but then Loft would get the kind of goal that only lumps get, so it’s swings and roundabouts.

But I can’t pretend I was devastated to see Hanlan go either. I was actually far more disappointed at Uche leaving at the time, but Uche really did not kick on after leaving us.

I’d say it’d be a 6/10 signing for whoever gets Hanlan, he *will* get goals, and there’ll be no shortage of effort, but he gets lost at times as well.

Becoming increasingly unlikely that Thomas Kaminski won't be returning for pre-season training. I would imagine he goes to Anderlecht or Standard Liege, although Aris Thessaloniki have also made an offer.

For context, he lost his dad suddenly at the end of last season, so I imagine being closer to family is important here. I hope we will get a big chunk of the £2.5M outlay back, because in my opinion, he's still worth that.

We will need to act quickly - its a position that needs to be solved early in pre-season. The players return in 11 days time.

Loft didn't really get any goals!

I’d think they might want to give Walton a go. He had good reviews from his loans up in Scotland and is yet to actually play here

We have brought in Xavier Simmons who was at wycombe back end of last season. Only 22 and played for England at every age group from u15 through u20 from Hull on a 4 year deal.
Fee involved so he has been signed for a couple of days......Think it has been released because the Collins news broke

We've signed another wing back! Liam Gordon from Walsall! We've got virtually 4 different options at each wing back now!
Was with us during covid in lge2.....Just never cut it but he was only a kid and i have watched him progress at Walsall...He is improving year on year.
On a side note Politic moved yesterday for 900k Euro and will be playing champions league football next season

Good for Politic. That move home to Romania has done him the world of good. Wouldn’t surprise me if he keeps improving he might end up back in England at a Championship club.

Seen you’re flogging Aaron Collins to MK. What’s going on there? Thought he was one of your better players?

Mixed bag for us to be honest, but we were a team in transition when he came in - trying to change too much at once.

Looked good in spells, so if he can up his consistency you've got a player, but he wasn't on it every game. Morley was a lot better for us.

We are already a younger faster, taller team than last season...Can see what Schumacher is trying to do.. Did they both play infront of the backline?
We use Morley further forward
