Sorry, but "gravy train"? What a load of guff. Jealously isn't a great trait.

How much did Gartside piss away under his tenure and then try and make the top 40 teams a closed shop? Bolton were hugely indebted.

Yes our PPs wil stop after this season. But we are financially secure, and we'll just go back to what it was in 2022/23 IF we get promoted (that's a big IF). We made arouind £10M in TV money that season, before the increase in TV money last season.

A big bunch of cash has gone on the stadium, which will open in 2028 and is already under construction. It will allow us to be debt free a lot quicker than we would've anticipated. Borrowing will be only half what it would've been without PL money. Our balance sheet gets healthier by the year.

The PP may allow us to spend fees on players that will be above our normal level without it - but in L1, how are we supposed to attract them? I fear that we may be aiming our sights too high and players aren't willing to step down, hence why we've only signed 2 players so far.
Not in one iota am i in envy of Luton town.....For what its worth i think they are being run well and have shown other teams that they can get to the premier league without bankrupting the club.
You have no idea what you are talking about like others in the past when it comes how Bolton was run in their premiership years......So i will tell you. Garside was only a Employee and was never a owner at the club. What Garside proposed was while he was on the board of the FA
Luton went on that great run from non league to the premiership and built year on year.....Yes it is a Gravy train and one that you have benefitted from the last two seasons and will for the following season......This runs out next may then your club will once again start losing money hand over fist unless you can repeat what you have done previously.
I do not believe that you will and will get your highest earners off your books in the next 12 months.....I was pointing out that you will not be doing a Birmingham and spending upwards of 25m on fees on players this close season

Signed Cameron Humphreys from Rotherham. No idea who he is or if he can play but defence is an area we have needed reinforcements in.

It's a niche forum and one I'll probably return to once life returns to normal. However it's no replacement for a proper L1 forum. The one I've referenced previously is definitely the best one and crying out for L1 supporters.
Happy birthday anyway!

We had a big overhaul with a lot of out of contract players, but still, we've somehow managed to sign 9 players so far?!?!? Whats going on.
Stand outs seem to be in midfield with Dean Campbell and Tyrece Fornah.
Others in midfield include youngsters Jack Perkins from Forest and Kamarai Swyer from West Ham. You never really know how they are going to go. Elliott List and Michael Jacobs bring the experience, solid if not spectacular. Jacobs returning 13 years after he left. Hope List can chip in with a few goals.
Jack Burroughs from Cov seems a good addition at RB although hasn't played that many games for 24.
Conor McCarthy CB from Barnsley seems a very us signing. Not totally sure he'll be first choice, but may surprise.
Oh and Ross Fitzsimons GK from Scunny probably as 2/3 choice.

Still have a number of positions to go - two more full backs to compete with Guinness-Walker and Burroughs, and across the forward line. Expecting a few to be the usual loans coming in towards the end of the premier league pre-season. Also expect Jack Baldwin to look for more game time somewhere else, so if you are in need of a CB...

Also Wigan have signed our loanee from the 2nd half of last season, Dara Costelloe. 500k seems such a crazy amount. Hard working, made things happen, lot of his goals were right place at the right time. We loved him, but then that's exactly what has just worked for us generally over the years.

I just have a feeling that won't be enough for Wigan fans especially having to justify the price while doing it.

Fornah is a decent player. I also like Campbell...that's going to be a decent midfield at this level. Some of the other signings are a bit hit and miss but you're never going to sign 10 stellar league 1 players unless you're Wrexham or Birmingham

Two more in today.
Ethan Brierley on loan from Brentford.
Jayden Wareham on a two year contract after his ran out at Reading.
Excited about both tbh.

No idea. He signed for us last January, immediately went to Ireland. Then went to Tranmere last season. Probably best asking any Tranmere fans as we've never seen him.

Departure of Morris to Derby was confirmed yesterday, apparently for 500k. We will definitely need another striker to come in as Adebayo is crocked. Brown and Nordas are about but neither particularly enthuse me

Must admit, want to see some more movement soon both outward but on the inward side too. It’s beginning to give me similar feelings to last summer where the recruitment was slow, we looked unprepared and we had a group of players who didn’t really want to be here

Demi Mitchell signs for Orient.

Fantastic player, before he got injured, might have been getting back there. Was also probably one of our highest wage earners so will be freeing up wages for elsewhere.
May do well there, if he stays fit

Valued at 13m this time last year......You are going to get hit on a lot of previous valuations
You wont get better than Morris for 500k even down here

I'd be surprised if it was £500,000. Because we can't get a replacement's foot for that much. If there was a relegation clause, it would've been enforced last year.

I'd say he'd have been valued at £20M last summer.

Could just be a release clause if you dropped to L1 though, inserted when you initially signed him for £1m+.

£500k is an absolute bargain for Derby, if true.

Our ex-keeper Franco Ravazzoli has gone to Blackpool.
Decent signing for them, he's not spectacular but is generally pretty consistent.

A couple more signings announced on our end:

1) Taylor Allen (CB) from Walsall - as a player with solid experience of being in a promotion cert team who then choke horrifically in the second half of the season, he'll fit right in.

2) Bradley Fink (CF) from FC Basel - I know very little about this one other than that he's 6'4 (perfect for hoofball) and has some decent experience at the top level of Swiss football. He also had some time at Dortmund, and our manager's brother is a scout there, so that's possibly how this otherwise random-seeming transfer came about.

Some Dutch rag has also said that we have a done deal to sign some youth keeper from Feyenoord on a 3-yr contract.
