What each club takes to either ground historically is completely irrelevant. You’re 2nd in the league, it’s Boxing Day and relatively local.

Let me ask you this. If we were in your shoes, do you think we’d bring 1,300 or would we come closer to selling out? Don’t give me this spiel about population and bigger fanbase. It’s L2 football and we’ve spent 6 years here.

You'd sell 1,299. Kidding, you're a bigger club so that's the reason why you'd sell out. I was a bit disappointed at first but in truth, when was the last time we took over 1k to Bradford? First game of the 16/17 season? Even then think it was less than 1,100.

We do have a fickle fan base. You can gauge our away followings off the mood around the place. When the ticket details were released we were doing much better, still top, I'd have guessed 2k. Our form is why it's so low. We took 1,400 boxing day to Rotherham 2012 when 2nd in the league.

Crewe's away % travelling will have taken a big knock after the last home game. Brought 2.5% to GY on that basis. I rather think we are in one off territory though - highest home crowd since 1969 I gather...

Club confirmed today we've sold just under 1,300.

Crewe? No chance, not having that.

For me it's a, meh, following. Not great, not shit. If we're looking for a comparison, the closest you'll find is probably the 2017 game that Alex Jones scored the winner, Bradford won that game to go 5th in League 1. Away following that day was 1,100.

To be fair, the % of home attendance is relevant at our level where clubs don't sell out away ends every week. The Arsenal, Man U, any other prem club that sells out week in week out, only becomes relevant when everyone that wants to attend, does. Most weeks, any Bradford fan that wants to attend,can as you don't sell out every week. You can't prevent it being used to say a clubs away following is good, then return the argument by flipping it say it actually shows your home support is good. It's one or the other.

And re our position, they key here is form. Fans get excited when they think there's a good chance of seeing their team win. We're fickle like that. Some clubs have great away support regardless, usually those with ridiculous distances to travel. Portsmouth, Ipswich, Carlisle, Plymouth.

The rest of us have good followings, ok followings and shit followings. It happens.

I said a few weeks ago, no club should be knocked for their away followings at the moment. We've got 3 away games in 10 days coming up. I've chosen the Doncaster one of the 3. Only one I've never been. Just me and my daughter it will cost us £80 for tickets and coach alone. Fair play to people that can go every game.

We're 4th division clubs at the end of the day. Anything over 1k should be applauded.

Reckon we might sell out or get very close to doing so.

Not sure on numbers we’re taking to Fleetwood this Thursday, but everyone I know seems to be going to that one too so should be a decent following there.

It's Christmas, no public transport, weather is shite and money doesn't grow on trees? Not to mention (and the biggest factor in whether fans bother or not), we're in terrible form and playing awful, boring, negative football. This December wage has to last me (and everyone else) 5 weeks instead of 4. It's bloody expensive. Bradford, Grimsby, Doncaster, Chesterfield and Colchester away all within that timeframe as well. Will cost upwards of several hundred pounds just for travel and tickets alone.

That guy who does the podcast 'lower league limit or' something is (was) always trying to stir the pot with that (I think he used to be your chicken mascot ?) He's now doing the same with Swindon ; seems to be an active trouble causer of fractioned clubs

No update on tickets sold but we're only allocated 812 tickets. I think there's 5 or 6 coaches going so thats 250 to 300. Personally can't see it being more than 500 which isn't great but is double what went last time vale played Grimsby away. Also 1300 away at Bradford is 600 more than what went when vale played Bradford away last time and about 250 more than what vale have ever taken to Bradford previously.

Gutted I’m having to miss it this year 4th Jan is my first night back in after new year, been there the last 2 seasons and planned to go again but sadly not which is typical now we’re actually pretty decent and might get a result there for once.

To be fair, he went to Swindon in support of their protest. He could have gone to Notts County, he chose the longer journey.
