Don't agree with Smith being in there from us, I like him as he is certainly a whole hearted player but he isn't even the best central midfield player at the club (IMO it's Doyle) let alone one of the best in the whole of league 2. I think Doyle and Berry would actually be brilliant partnership by the way!

Don't know about Potts as he hasn't really played that much football in his career, for what it's worth I thought Griffiths was one of our better players last season so to displace him he will need to be good.

I don't really have a detailed knowledge of a lot of players at this level, especially defenders so it's tricky to do.

I honestly don't know how I'd pick a whole team, too many players I haven't seen play enough to make a call on.

I do know I'd put forward very different Luton players to SVH - Doyle is a much better player than Smith for me, and I think Potts has a long way to go to prove he is first choice over Scott Griffiths, never mind the best left back in the division. Unless/until we sign CMS, I'd say Nathan Doyle and Danny Green are our best shouts for a team of this nature. Maybe Cuthbert from the way Orient fans talk about him, although I haven't seen enough yet to judge.

Other random thoughts:
- I'd take Carrol (Notts) or McCormick ('Muff) in goal.
- I didn't see a better right back in the division than Harriman (Wycombe) last season
- Aaron Pierre (Wycombe) has to be in with a shout for top CB based on his form last season, although he did have the best CB in the division alongside him
- Roberts (Pompey) has to be in there somewhere
- some good strikers to choose from. Tubbs is probably the outstanding candidate but lots of good ones to choose from. Jon Stead has to be in with a shout. Also Reuben Reid for me - I know he divides opinion and seems very inconsistent, but whenever I've seen him (apart from the play-off semis) he's been an absolute pain in the arse, can't knock his scoring record either

I don't care about the outfield but if Roy 'the Boy' Carroll is even 90% of what he was last season, then he is comfortably ahead of all keepers at L2 level. He was the best keeper in L1 last season, and the standard is naturally better at that level. It's a tad embarrassing to think how bad we were last season, and how much worse we would of been with The Crazy One between the sticks.

I'd have Cureton in there from us. I think movement wise and instinct in front of goal, he still reigns over most if not all in this division.

It does my bloody head in too. It's like having Beesley again - I wish we'd stop signing talented and creative players who play in a position we don't sodding use.

Ryan Donaldson over Gary Roberts?? I coulda sworn he couldn't even get in your team last season at some points. Never heard of Legge or Smith and theres definitely better than Toney upfront.

Donaldson is always played, ineffectively and out of position, whenever fit. He's a classic "would be awesome at a higher level" type, where he's got the ability but it's all a bit wasted in a league two slugfest.

Legge has dropped down from playing League One football. Because he is getting crap loads of the Man U money we're pissing up the wall believes in what we're trying to achieve this season.

No I got it, some of those in the team that SVH picked where a little strange, especially knowing the Luton players picked so well, so felt it worthy of note and debate. Otherwise would just be a list of each persons team which would be quite a boring thread!

Have thought about it more, and going largely on what people say on here about how good X player is and a few who were impressive last season

Didn't he also play predominately wide for Gateshead too. Pretty sure someone even asked him what position he felt more comfortable in and his answer was out wide.

When fit he's a brilliant RM; When carrying an injury he knows how to do a job at RM. He rarely, if ever, makes a tackle but he knows what position to take. In attack or defence, he rarely needs to get within 2m of his opposition to do his job - which means you don't see crunching tackles or dazzling wing play. He's quite boring really.

I'll admit to offering a selection of views aired on the Habbin since February, in a misplaced and misjudged moment of mischief. Even his agent touts him as a "central attacking midfield."

That said, with our current alternatives, despite the Man U and Wembley performances, he might not even be our second best central attacking midfield. He's probably only going to get in the team from the bench or on the right of a Money-style narrow 4 once he returns to fitness.

He was at Lowestoft, walking around the ground, and happy to chat as well. It's interesting to note how tall and solidly built our "smaller" more skilful players are these days when you stand next to them.
