The kickoff time for Sutton’s game at Carlisle on December 3rd has been moved to 1pm to avoid a clash with a potential England 2nd round tie at the World Cup.

It’s a bit presumptuous to assume England will get to the 2nd round of the World Cup, but I guess it’s best to be ready just in case.
Not sure whether you are serious or not but the ko was moved due to the potential clash. No one said it was a done deal but best to move the time with plenty of notice for travelling fans etc. I’d be pretty surprised if England are in the knock out stages.

Hence why I added the word ‘potential’ before the word ‘clash’….

FIFA is looking to compensate clubs that lose players to the world Cup. I think the plan mooted is £9k per day per player including preparation time.

So should Jonny Williams get called up for Wales we will be in for a little bit of income. And as an added bonus if Jojo Wollacott gets called up by Ghana we'll be due a % of that £9k as he was registered with us for 2 years prior to the World Cup (assume to take into account qualifications etc) so I imagine Charlton will get £6k and we get £3k or something similar.

Edit - didn't see I.D's earlier post.
That’s going to work out at about £360,000 into our coffers. I honestly can’t see how that’s going to happen. Happy days if it does.

That’s 4 years of Ben Garner’s salary!

There’s a thread on our forum about Jonny Williams, who we’ll lose when the World Cup comes around. Apparently we get £9000 per day compensation for every day he is absent from us.

Sounds a nice little earner!
Seems a bit of a daft figure doesn't it.

If it was £9k per day if he returns from the WC injured then it'd still seem high but you could half understand it. For just being at the WC, you'd expect them to just cover the weekly wage?!

Any links for the £9k a day figure?

I don’t think it’s the worst idea.

Generally though the amount of bending over backwards that’s being done to get a mid season World Cup in Qatar is ridiculous. If it was a country with a decent footballing history you could understand it. Power of the brown bag.

if we’re getting £360,000 out of it, imagine how much the top clubs will get with the number of players they provide international teams.

Maybe it’s only for those clubs that are having to continue playing that get it. Mind you, it does state ‘all clubs’.

I saw a breakdown, and Real Madrid got roughly £3m last time.

Apparently there is a cap of£330,000 per player so with number if players Madrid would have supplied it sounds about right.

At what point will it be worth starting a Carlisle United injury thread?
Yep, our seats are out of action for the rest of the season following serious injuries caused by Cumbrian coked up charvers on their big day out. Here's your first entry.

Hearing Iran are desperate for another centre half and right back so im frantic scrambling around the Internet to see if Regan Tumilty and Euan Murray have any Iranian descent. 660k is adequate compensation for the distress they've caused us this season.

Interesting how we appear quite well in some of these graphs even with such a injury hit start to the season. We still have almost 10 players injured even now, but you’d probably say the 11 playing is our best 11.

That’s why they have no fans, they can either spend £25 of their dole money on football or they can spend it on crack, and the crack wins every time.

Preston has been a breath of fresh air since coming in to Crawley - been open about everything- yes has dropped some bombshells at times but has listened to the supporters and taken action at times - he has financing helped us with the cost of our coach to Bradford on Saturday allowing us to only charge £20 to supporters travelling- we all have sent our best wishes for a full recovery and that he is back in Crawley in the future when able

Missed this the other day but we’ve made it to the final four in the European ’More Than Football’ community award, alongside Newcastle, FC Twente and Bilbao.

Apparently we’re now invited to Budapest to present to European clubs delegates who will decide the winner. Our tackling loneliness project in lockdown is the reason we’ve been nominated.

An excellent achievement and exactly what clubs at our level quite often don’t get praise for, because I’m sure most other clubs in this league have other community projects doing good work (just not as good as ours obviously!!)

Nice one. A lot of clubs set up community projects during Covid. This is ours.

It was initially set up within a couple of days of the start of lockdown by supporters. There was a large WhatsApp group of volunteers anyway so news got out pretty quickly and a lot of people got on board including people who supported other football clubs or none.

It started with food collections outside supermarkets and preparing meals at a local rugby club to provide for those isolating. Distribution was initially done from Kingsmeadow but when we moved to an unfinished Plough Lane, A local company - our main stand sponsors - offered warehouse space so the good work could continue.

I worked throughout lockdown so I haven't been able to volunteer but I regularly donate when I go shopping.

At work in order for us to be carbon neutral, we have to plant loads of trees to offset the damage we're doing to the planet. Wonder if this is Northampton's way of balancing out their intense levels of shithousery on the pitch?

In all seriousness though, this is great and the for the Cobblers to be up there with those names is superb. Fair play to them.

Excellent work, as you point out clubs at our level are frequently missed out, the best of luck.

Our Boxing Day game with Stevenage has been moved to the 27th to be shown on Sky.

Will this mean our game away at Newport be moved to the Friday because of this? Will our game away at Northampton on the 3rd Jan now also be moved?

Can’t see why we’d move ours on the 2nd. 3pm kick off on a bank holiday they’re not going to want to move that to a 7:45 kick off the next night.

Huzzah! I can go to this now. Helpful stuff. Can’t imagine either of the other two games will be moved; still 3 days before we head to Wales.
