Watched the latest in the Class of Nerdy2's Salford documentry, things I took from it:

- EFL do suprise inspections of grounds - Salfords was basically not up to speed (we all knew that).
- They will almost certainly move to the AJ Bell stadium at the end of the season - Neville worried that when they get promoted they will not cope with the bigger clubs and away followings.
- They're all aware that their crowds are crap.
- Tom Elliott was one of their highest earners (if not the highest) and he was always injured, seemed a decent bloke though.

Most of it focused on the ground this week, interesting watch from that perspective I thought. Looked like he got just about enough support to pass it through. He said to the committe members/fans "If we get promoted at the end of the season and don't take this deal, we'll look like the stupidest owners ever."

I suspect that chucking good money after bad at a NWCFL side with a hundred fans makes them look like stupid owners, not whatever needless deal they do to cuckoo other clubs out of their home stadium.

Which is a drab shithole anyway, and if the wind blows from the sewage works across the canal the smell will reflect the surroundings.

To put that money into Salford when clubs like Bury, Oldham and Stockport were in a desperate state is the most damaging thing they could have done to lower league football, and they claim they're all about supporting the grassroots while they try and pave over it with their vanity project and the only other argument for putting the money there and not in one of those other clubs is that those clubs' issues made them riskier investments which is just another way of saying it was all just about the money. They just want to get Salford City into the Championship (seems to be the height of their ambition and even that seems a stretch now) make documentaries, appoint their old mates club ambassador and sell merchandise to ManU fans.

A move to the AJ Bell would do nothing positive to their crowds. It's a nightmare traffic round there and terrible public transport options.

I actually think their ground is in a decent spot now.

It's just nobody cares about them, that's why they get wank crowds.

They said they can get back to getting 4 out 5 thousand in with the right stadium.

Sorry. Did I miss the time Salford were getting those sort of numbers?

They set their record Football League crowd of about 3,900 against Bratfurt earlier this season. Massive.

But, what’s the point?

Seriously, what is the point? In an area with a large number of football clubs already, what is a Salford team bringing to the party, and who is it for?

Can’t help but notice that all of our resident Mansfield fans have disappeared. Hope they’re okay.

So, I'm in my usual late autumn smoking induced cold period, with a chest/shoulder injury to boot. I'm in a bad way. I swerved today's loss to Chesterfield and can't see me being fit for action until Boxing Day against Newport,

A sneaky win today, with Dale winning 4-1 at Huddersfield in the Central League Cup (whatever that is).

As Huddersfield's first team squad and some of their youngsters are apparently in Portugal for a warm-weather camp not too much can be read into the result (Dale was mostly first team recovering from injury who needed game time).

Not that exciting, but better than the nonsense from Catarrh...

We asked them to bring the game forward, they said no. Hope Beckham chokes on his £150m bung from the Qataris.
It’s not just the fans (mainly ours as there won’t be many of them whatever time the game is) but the players, officials, and the match day staff - and all their families - who might be affected.
Speaking of Salford.

Don't know why teams have waited for the outcome of yesterday's game to decide they might move them. All should have sorted it as soon as it was known there was potential for England to be playing the same day.

In our case if they could just move it back to 1pm we'd all get back in plenty of time for the England match but it's too late notice to be fucking fans around with only 5 days notice.

Us and Crawley moved it nearly two months ago to Friday to avoid owt like this, just bringing our defeat a day forward.

I hope so. :fish:

Seriously, if I could figure a way of getting teams promoted without others being relegated I would. I wish you well after Friday

I don’t get the end game for Nev and co at Salford. They’ll never get 5,000 consistently.

Neville stepped down didn't he because he couldn't devote the time? He's still involved but Nicky Butt now more involved.

It's not as fun for them now it's levelled out and they're not winning promotion every season.

Nerdford staying put for now:

Correct decision I believe from Salford City Council who have recognised that the local rugby league team are more important to the community than Gary Neville's hobby. They get bigger attendances than Salford City and have been playing there since the stadium was build but their future wouldn't be guaranteed if Salford City purchased it.

Salford Council wouldn't be against selling their interest in the stadium provided it retained a community focus, so it's no surprise Sale Loan Sharks and Class of 92 FC fell short with their proposal.

Sale left Edgeley Park because of the lack of corporate facilities... Co92 have found that public interest in their project has plateaued and would need other sources of income if they're ever going to progress. Why should either of them put time & effort into developing their own facilites if they can just cuckoo Salford Reds out of their home? Community means nothing to those two.

Salford City and Sale Sharks. Two arses of the same cheek. Both have always had ideas well above the station. Both still shit clubs.

Does this mean our two can't hit a barn door?
Pretty much yeah, we create good chances but don't put them away so it's not all bad I guess. Whereas Orient and Cobblers are the most clinical by a long stretch. That's what I take from it anyway.
