I had seen on Twitter some Bradford fans had been talking themselves into thinking Bahamboula was joining you which probably hasn’t helped. Would say the chances of that were always unlikely but with that Oldham owner also could say it wouldn’t be completely impossible either for them to flog him for very little.
I think a lot of it was messing about but your overall point I agree with, so many times with our fans unrealistic names are branded about suppose that’s the social media culture we now live in. We never end up with the names mentioned, only time I remember us doing were for James Vaughan and Charlie Wyke. Other than that people usually just get their hopes up to have them crushed again. The bright side is if or when Angol comes back he’ll be 4th choice and we only play 1 up top.

Glad Theo has gone a colossal waste of a wage and should never have been signed in the first place.

He was only signed because we put all our eggs in the Maynard basket before last season, missed out on Jamile Matt who we’d agreed a deal with because we stalled on it for Maynard and ended up with Theo!

Was poor in his first spell, but mostly terrible and lazy last season, the fact despite our awful form he was culled from the registered squad in January says it all (but got back in after injury ruled Visser out for the season).

He did score against Bradford I think so maybe why they’ve signed him!

That said all isn’t lost, he does have a decent record at some clubs but just wasn’t right for us and didn’t suit us. Fans are angry he stole a wages with the kids but don’t blame him for that as you wouldn’t leave without a new job and not get paid.

Hopefully Derek Adams can get a tune out of him. We shall see I suppose. Whatever, I reckon Robinson will do better and score more than his replacement, the loanee from Cheltenham, Vale have signed

It’s more than plausible he could do ok for you. Probably not as a lone striker though. I’m just glad he is off our books now as this is one signing that has been a miserable failure and pretty much summed up John Askeys recruitment that ultimately proved his downfall.

As for the Cheltenham lad we’ll see. From clips have seen he seems like he can hold it up well and has a good first touch so if he can bring that to our forward line for the minimal cost that’ll work for us.

The Cheltenham lad looks ok based on last night but do struggle to see where he would regularly play as he is arguably fifth choice now we’ve decided to use Amoo as a striker this season.

I wouldn’t go as far as saying it was as bad as the Presley where he tore apart a team that constantly challenged in this league and replaced them with some truly awful players. Even the trialists were the worst quality we’ve ever had.

Yes, but in this transfer window the only good player who we've signed is Clough and that's only if he stays fit.

So many decent ones left and have not been fully replaced with anything better.

Just from afar I don’t think your chairman helps matters when he was going on about meeting a player in London who 9 other clubs were after. Why even mention that until it’s over the line as when the inevitable anti-climax happens it just pisses people off more.

Presley replaced a very decent team with a bunch of duds! The best signing was Aaron Hayden who he played upfront!

Confirmed we lost out on a few experienced CB yesterday including Carl Piergianni which Oldham turned down, some of the fanbase a bit miffed we initially nearly signed Tom Naylor in the summer to getting two young loanees. The reason we use to hardly miss out on our targets was due to offering too much money, I’m glad we are a bit more frugal now but with Perch out for a suspected concussion I think our two CB for Saturday will be Hewitt/Rawson and the lad from Burnley, a club with our financial backing should still do better overall even being more sensible, but we gotta trust the manager.

Don’t start getting catty because Bradford have dropped a clanger.
Tbf Robinson will most likely be shit but statistically is still likely to score more than George Lloyd, he scored 2 in 32 last season which is terrible in a title winning team. I’ve know doubt the Cheltenham fans were a bit more complimentary though as with all football fans when they’re ‘one of their own are’. Let’s be honest neither of us signed a player expected to be starting.

Sounds like in desperation we were trying to get Benji Kimpioka last night, last seen running around like a headless chicken for Torquay.
Thank god that didn't happen.
Watched him a few times last season & the word hopeless comes to mind.

I’m glad we got another one in in the end. Although it seems a bit last minute desperation. The kid from Arsenal has never played men’s football. I hope he turns out to be good enough but it still smacks of lack of planning and penny pinching.

Overall I’d give our transfer window 2 out of 10. We are a lot weaker at both ends of the pitch. In fully expecting a massive struggle to stay in the football league.

No i agree he bangs on about promotion then we sign 2 kids on loan as our main strikers thats literally all we have Wilko is good but he is not an out and out striker.

To be fair no one scored many in that Cheltenham title winning team (dont think any got to double figures!)

He will work hard though based on his reviews which is more than could be said of Theo but would be surprised to see him get a run of games regardless unless we lose 2 of Wilson, Rodney or Proctor to injury, imagine he will be used to harry and hassle teams as an impact sub.

It's strange really when you think about it. Jack Armer was considered surplus to requirements by a Championship team, yet he's been excellent and yet we're not expecting much from a player of a similar age considered still part of a Premier League team's plans.

It's not totally nonsense of course, it does make sense, it just seems on the surface of it as though it shouldn't. He may be different but if loaning kids from Premier League teams has taught us anything then it's that the big teams hoard far too many youngsters, to the point where the typical quality is probably lower than teams like Preston have.

Probably an attitude thing too, Jack Armer will have been far hungrier to succeed at this level than a kid from a Cat 1 academy who'se been sent out to get some experience.

Any physical strikers going spare? We’re after one and can still pay a fee because we’re both loaded and a tinpot NL team.

And throwing water bottles at our fans on the pitch at Ashton Gate.

Yeah that’s the thing with these lads. They are totally untried. Even if their talent is exceptional they have to have the attitude, like O’Hare did. They can say they have but you don’t know until they are on the pitch playing League 2 football. I have a feeling Brad Young has the right attitude so here’s hoping. Hopefully the Arsenal lad does as well.

Tanner was a youngster, but he’d proven himself already at morecambe and was only going to get better and up in value. It was as close to a guaranteed success signing as you could get. Mellor is just a short sighted easy fix. He’ll probably be alright but no where near the level of Tanner and obviously at this stage of his career is only going to get worse not better.

It just smacks of lack of ambition to achieve anything else other than survival. I think this board/company/football director are totally happy if we simply stay up and flog a few players every year. That’s a success to them, although they’d never admit it publicly.

It’s not only him, though. I don’t know the ins and outs of your recruitment, but Bennett, Nichols and a few of Joey’s signings have all gone to mush.
Bennett had a good rep in L2, couldn’t cut it in L1. Nichols had an awful rep from Peterborough fans, they couldn’t believe we paid money for him?

Joeys are far too early to say only 5 games into the season, surely?

All the ones you’ve mentioned are pre-Garner. All the ones from last season had great reps though and were ruined by Garner and ourselves. Not putting all the blame on Garner of course, but we didn’t have this problem until he came here.

In fact, we had a great squad and we’re 4th at Christmas in L1. Now we’re here.

So how come 3 successive managers - Garner, Tisdale and now Barton - all seem to found it nigh on impossible to steady the ship? I think they’ve been backed pretty well. How/why has the recruitment been so unsuccessful.

See Kieran Agard is still knocking about on a free. Can see him signing for a league 2 club soon.
Also Otis Khan.

I think Agard still being available tells me his wage demands are probably too high for where he is at this point of his career. Suppose at some point he'll have to lower them to a point it becomes more viable.
