Chris Hussey signed from Cheltenham for a five figure fee. Chuffed with that one! Can’t say we aren’t giving it a go.

Like this move for us. Going to have a lot of Saturday - Tuesdays on our fixture list for the rest of the season so need that cover at wingback. Him and Worrall providing crosses from out wide is about as good as you will get at this level. Definitely being aggressive in this window, more used to the opposite with us.

Best signing in a January window since the heady days of 12/13 and Lee Hughes and Darren Purse to get us over the line.

Loving the work Flitcroft and the recruitment guys are doing, played a blinder flogging Johnson for money and using it to buy arguably the best left back last season who’s played 90% of minutes in a league one campaign this season.

Couple of good centre halves now and for me we are done.

Hussey's played nearly every game this season so not sure what that means for our current lads. Plus we paid a fee for him so it's presumably not just an over-the-line kind of signing. Is Gibbons off? Change to a 3-4-3/4-3-3? Can he even play in a back 4? This signing asks more questions than it answers tbh.

Mostly good questions though?

We have a lot of games coming up and bear in mind Worrall does pick up injuries so it’s a good problem to have.

Benning and Hussey battle for the left, Gibbons/Worrall on the right can rotate when the games come thick and fast and the option is there to push Worrall further forwards. Saturday shown just how good he is in his right more attacking position.

I would like to see us use 4-3-3 to accommodate all three, plus the three big midfielders we have and allows us to utilise Politic in his best position? Certainly against the poorer sides.

It does leave us hoping players get injured basically or else you'll have to be crossing your fingers that James Gibbons, our 23yo player of the season so far, out of contract at the end of the season, is happy being benched because maybe he might be a bit tired. Would love a 3-4-3 with Woz ahead of Gibbo though, but I think we'll only get that at home to poor sides

To answer one question - yes Chris Hussey can play in a 4. If you go to 3 centre-backs he can also play on the left side of them as well.

Other than his age, which is what's done for him in League 1, the only negative I can offer is that he is so one-footed it's actually funny. He won't even attempt to kick with his right foot.

With that being said, I'm sad to see him go. The word legend is banded around far too easily, but he's easily the second best left-back I've ever seen play for Cheltenham (only Jamie Victory betters him).

He'll probably score 3 in 3 and we'll be mocked for letting him go. But it's absolutely hilarious that the Tweet Exeter put out showing him in training shows him nearly missing an open net from a yard out!

Issue with 3-4-3 is who do you drop from Conlon, Pett or Garrity?

If Hussey can play left of the three then might work for us? It’s a strange one because we have real quality in the likes of Politic who we can’t even accommodate with the formation we play.

The tribunal for Scott Twine has been finalised and Franchise have been ordered to pay 300k plus add ons and more importantly a 20% sell on.

Offloaded? He was out on loan. Obviously worked, too.

To be fair the loan spell at Newport showed what Twine was capable of and he came back and thrived for us. I'm not convinced Wellens rated him that highly so in many ways that loan spell was the making of him.

We have apparently made bids for Kane Hemmings and / or Armand Gnanduillet, depending on who (if anybody) you believe.

I would be happy with either, particularly Hemmings.

Hmm could see it. He’s not quite lived up to what was hoping for this season mainly through never quite being fit I think. Wouldn’t be against a loan deal and you’re close enough for us to monitor his progress too. Got all the raw materials you’d want in a good forward but he just has no footballing brain whatsoever and will occasionally have you tearing your hair out.

Talk is he is off so makes sense, he hasn't been close to good this season really which is so frustrating as last season he looked to have real potential to push on, especially with the crowd behind him. Looks like he's running through treacle this season.

He never seemed right after his Covid absence so maybe had a part in it who knows. I would loan unless we get a fee though as still has 18 months left as hope we can still get to see some of last seasons form back.

Aye when you'd watch him on the iFollow streams last season he looked like he had some serious explosion in his first few steps and defenders struggled with him, Santos at Bolton in our first encounter comes to mind. It's not been there this season at all and to be honest if you look at our strikers he is battling for third choice at best and out wide I put Amoo and Politic (Worrall also if we change formation) ahead of him too. If we let him go I would actually then try and see if we can come to a mutually beneficial agreement with Bolton for Politic permanently.

Agree, I would snap your hand off to tie Politic down, we may have offered a contract anyway as he is free come May (bar compo) so offer them a figure and and decent deal. He is one who would step up to L1, Dave probably isn't.

Are Walsall likely to pay a fee for anyone realistically? I thought they were a bit short down there (having just paid a fee for a Menayese also?). If we can get a bit of cash though and use that to secure Politic on a perm deal then it's an absolute no brainer!

Really really like the signing of Hussey, though it does leave me suspecting that Gibbons is on his way out. Doubt we'll get a massive fee due to his contract expiring in the summer, however if we can tie any deal to a decent sell on percentage then we could reap the benefits down the line.

What if Gibbons goes but we have got Hussey in and that money allows us to keep Dennis? Or we dont keep Dennis but Gibbo stays and goes for free in the summer? Tricky one that... but Hussey at least gives us a good insurance policy if we do lose Gibbo.

Unofficial Vale was hinting it was and to be fair they called the Hussey one right too so could be on a hot streak. We'll ignore the Dom Telford one which was never going to happen in a million years.

Can't profess to know much of him but about 6ft4in we need someone like that in defence as our weakness has been defending crosses. Probably would free up Leon to move on.

Assume he would initially replace Johnson in the squad but the type we are crying out for. Another cash bid, cant say Carol isn't going for it by the looks of it.

I'll be heartbroken if gibbo goes even if we got an impossible fee. Typifies everything you want as a footballer in lower leagues, never boring, don't know whether he is going to sprint the full length of the pitch, bend one round the keeper, pick out a crazy cross on his left foot or get sent off.

If he were to stay, I know he will become one of the all time favourites for me.

Give us another 2 years gibbo let's have a crack at league 1 together

And re rodders, 10% of the time I'm thinking this guy looks like a premier League player. 80% of the time you don't notice him. And 10% he looks like he has won a competition.

I'll never understand why these raw pace/power players look frightened to run at people. Ben Williamson was similar, just fail to take advantage of their attributes.

We have better strikers so wouldn't be bothered to see him go now. Good option off the bench if not
