He has one year left on his contract and scored 15 goals last season (all from open play against League Two sides), I would've thought our board would want a fee of sorts.

He's a 6'5 target man, wins most headers and good at holding the ball up. Despite his size, he does miss alot of chances with his head and as you'd expect from a man of his size, not the quickest

Started last season very well, but lost alot of confidence and form when we went 15 games without a win. Wellens came in and got him going again, but he picked up an injury in the final few games.

He has his uses down here, if we do move him on we'll need a bit of a high profile signing to replace him after his goals last season. Overall I thought he did ok for us, think him being back in London has helped him.

Lives in Chatham with his family and worked with Harris at Millwall, so I can see this happening.
Thank you, I’ve posted that on our forum. Does sound like it might have legs.

I did say we were unlikely to pay a fee at first, but then I remembered we paid a fee for John Akinde and gave him a 3 year deal. Still can’t believe we actually paid money for him.

unusually evertone so far from Tranmere and Northampton has been complimentary about him, which is hopefully a good sign.
Loved Foley at Vale, had a superb engine but that was 6-7 years ago! Had a weird run of getting relegated from L1 with 3 in 4 seasons!

Chipped in with goals for us, assume his engine isn’t as good now but was always solid enough.

Yeah, Moncur would be superb at this level. He was brilliant for us in League One too, albeit he had the ego to match and an interfering father. Would think he's matured by now though and he was technically excellent.
He’s a bit of an odd sort, big ego, which cuts both ways whilst he needs a strong hand to keep him on track, he loves the big occasion and scored extremely important goals in part I think as he loves the spotlight and attention.

If he’s anything like with us I could see him being one of the better players at this level. Would be a good get for league 2, he’s a top end league 1, lower championship player. Could easily see him thinking he’s too good for it and strutting his way through though! I’d have thought he wouldn’t be short of L1 offers but location may favour Leyton Orient as seems to play his best football at clubs close to home. His moves north haven’t worked as well.

Scots pub team, pull yourself togeather man.

Didn’t FGR pull a team of the season fullback from Morton last season?

I’m still on the positive bandwagon, Hartley’s been here a week, I’m certain we’ll have more bodies in this week, no need to panic just yet lads.

Well I've got no idea what type of player we've signed here. Swindon fans seem complimentary but then you get the complete opposite from Plymouth fans. Have to say that on the face of it, if this is Paudie's replacement then I'm not impressed.

He came to us and Swindon fans were gutted, but he was just very meh. A bit lightweight, weak in the tackle, he seemed out of his depth to be honest. Signed to cover for the injured Brendan Galloway but couldn’t get a look in over Macauley Gillesphey after it quickly became apparent he wasn’t going to be up to it.

I guess the step up to the top end of league 1 was maybe a bit too far for him. I'm impressed with the way Bradford are going about their business. No past it has beens on big contracts...just solid signings that have the potential to develop. It's them, Mansfield and Northampton are the ones to look out for I reckon.

It's not Hartley, it's the fact we've lost our best player two seasons running to other clubs in L2, no matter how that gets dressed up you have to question the club. Players seemingly don't see us kicking on under the current owners and we really have no excuses, we are not one of the smaller clubs here with tiny support etc. When we come out with blatant shite like top 7 budget etc, it's classic deflection tactics. The bits i hear and how things bare out show the opposite. I'm not expecting us to bankroll our way to success but if we keep offering out deals a tiny fraction higher than what we were paying in the NL then it's questionable the direction it's going in.

I'm totally behind Hartley, I hope he'll do a good job. That Tumilty gadgie is apparently viewed as one of the best defenders outside the SPL and remember Hugh Robertson etc. There's time and its not quite panic stations but hope he doesn't become another victim of politics behind the scenes.

A fit Molyneux will be an excellent addition at Donny, but once Lee went,I think that decided his future wasn’t here.
Lee did get the best out of Mols & they obviously got on,if Lee had still been here ,I think Mols would have stayed.
I‘m still in the positive camp, just, the Scots pub team comment was tongue in cheek

Is it not just the nature of football though, players are always going to do what’s best for themselves, Oates was offered a ‘very very good deal’ according to DC but left for a club who no doubt offered him more, Molyneux was a good player but sees Donny as a more attractive proposition than us going forward and I think they are too, their recent history shows that, he goes with my best wishes and no ill intent, I hope he does really well with them, unlike Oates who I hope catches his cock end in his jeans zip once a week for the rest of his life..

The close of the transfer window for me is when we need to judge the board, they’ve claimed a playoff budget, let’s wait and see if it happens.

Stockport County.
Someone on our forum thinks Horsfall to Stockport is on the cards, which would be a massive surprise if he ended up in this League next year.
Any good?

I know nothing about this league.

But as I think it was Northampton posters themselves said yesterday, locality could be a big factor . Looks like a Yorkshire lad but has played at Trafford, Stalyvegas, Salford and Macc so knows the area well.

Nothing on our forum though and we usually have some decent ITK's. I think we need to offload some before we bring anymore in tbh, can't see anything imminent.
is that saying he's too good for L2 - or that he's shit?
I'd like to think too good as he played nearly every minute in a team that just missed out on Auto's? Linked to Bristol City in one of his top searches.

Hes good. Was on trial at Bristol City this summer but obviously didnt get a spot there. I thought he may go to a midtable L1 side to be honest. Hes a beast in the air and is a threat from set pieces (9 goals last season!) hes a leader on the pitch as well.

The one thing I will say is that we have had some really good CB's in recent years and our defensive style of play allows defenders to appear better / forwards to struggle. We sold Charlie Goode for £1.25 m and Lloyd Jones left at the end of his deal for Cambridge and sounds like he has continued his good showings there. Guthrie got in TOTY for league 2 this season so we can make CB's look good!

I personally think Horsfall is Mid L1 Level, my concern would be as the levels get higher he is not quite good enough on the ball as he moves forward, not that hes just a clogger, but again, maybe thats due to our style we didnt get to see all of his ability.

At L2 level though hes excellent at what is needed. He would improve any side at this level IMO. Of all CB's who played at least half the games he was number 1 in terms of aerial success, despite being involved in the 3rd most and playing the 2nd most minutes (would normally see a dip with that sort of volume).

So yeah, he's a beast in the air and will improve your side. I think the reason we all assumed he was going up a level is that we have a decent budget and are usually pushing for promotion at this level, so if he wasnt staying assumed he would go up to L1. Great signing for you if you get him in though!

For context, hes rated as one of the top 10 League two players last year on whoscored. Fortunately for us, so is his partner Guthrie, but was expecting him to sign higher than league 2.

The idk poster on our forum says we've been after Lee Burge, which would feel like an adequate Roberts replacement if he passes his medical.

Smith looked outstanding when you played at home to us last season. Our two centre backs Daniels and Monthe are normally quite dominant in the air but Smith was a colossus; I genuinely don't remember him missing a header all game and scored with a tidy finish also on that day.

We've sold him a dream to be part of a process and a project. We've got the Scott Holding money burning in our pockets but I can only see it being spent on wages/facilities/youth team, not transfer fees.

Don't know anything about him, so you can't lose what you don't know if he does go L1 etc.

One or two whispers and this will get peoples backs up on here that we're going to start doing that thing that Real Madrid do and invite player, his family (wife, kids, mum, dad etc) to see him sign and check out the facilities and the new table tennis table at La Carrington. Little de-tour to Edgeley to see the Cheadle End and do some kick ups and that. But the idea is in its infancy.

We have signed Isaac Hutchingson from Derby on a 1 year deal with the option of a second. He was on loan at Crawley last season.

Don’t know much about him apart from he’s an attacking midfielder.

Just need a couple of strikers and I presume that’s be us done.

I think he is well rated by derby, only went on loan to get game time. Could be a shrewd signing.
