So it looks very likely that gaffney is going to rovers and if I'm honest I ain't to happy about it, the bloke has been injured since he came(as well as being chadwicked) played the odd cameo for us and looked lively, we get dezza in and ship him out on loan, now if this was just to get fit then all would be good but it's sounding very much like that dezza doesn't rate him!!

There's got to be more into this, perhaps off the field is where the problem is for dezza as I can't see much wrong when gaffney is on it, I do hope dezza knows what he's doing as I've got a feeling this may came back and give us a huge bite.

Devon White anyone!!!!!!!

I agree, there must be an off the field problem with Gaffney otherwise why the hell are we strengthening a play off rival.

I trust Derry but I do wonder if this one will come back to bite us in the arse come the end of the season. If he is allowing Gaffney to extend the loan, get a recall in the deal but I'm sure he will have Williamson or someone else lined up. My fear is if Corr get's crocked we don't have another striker of his calibre to hold the ball up or bully defenders.

This window is make or break for us.

To be honest, with the amount of money Corr is (presumed) to be on, I thought this might be a factor. Gaffney and Corr seem to be similar sort of players, and maybe Derry couldn't guarantee Gaffney games with Corr doing so well.

I'll happily take Gaffney, excellent player and option for us. Hopefully on a permanent deal.

I liked Conor Townsend. He was decent for us in a shit league 1 team.

But we have Danny Grainger, Macauley Gillesphey, Patrick Brough and Alex McQueen who can all play at left back.

It would be a wasted signing imo. I'd rather we signed an attacking winger.

I liked Townsend, he was a good player when he came here on loan from Hull. I was surprised he didn't get a move to a league club, so I'd be reasonably happy if we were to get him.

Would he start for us? I'm not sure, Grainger had the position nailed down until he was used as a left winger recently.
I'm not so sure Townsend is better than Gillesphey to be honest.

David Atkinson has signed on until 2017, fantastic news.

Edit: Danny Grainger, best crosser in the league and surely one of the best captains, also extends his contract until 2017. Great day.

Liam Lawrence back to Mansfield. Shrews manager has said not happening though.

I'd welcome him back in an attacking midfield role even at his age now.

Agreed so would I don't know about as an attacking midfielder think Lawrence could do better in a holding role where he can use his passing range.

Notts County fans - Has the Moniz sacking killed off any chance of you keeping Sheehan? (And how's Stead getting on?)

Depends whether the new manager will have control of transfers or not. That and I guess if it is someone like Sheridan then they'll be well aware of how good he is at this level, although there's an argument we'd be better off spending his wages on a proper centre back.

Stead has been poor, to be honest. He's slow as fuck.

Asamoah and Balanta have had their contracts extended til the end of the season, following on from Atkinson and Grainger extending their stay til the end of next season.

I liked Balanta towards the start of the season, but he hasn't featured in the matchday squad in weeks. Is he injured?

Expect any Sheehan deal will be on unless a new manager really doesn't want him.

Scot Bennett recalled, wouldn't be surprised to see Blair Adams back soon as well. Moniz got rid of both after the Oxford debacle but I'd like to think those within the club would see it as silly to have a very solid left-back like Adams out on loan in the same division - especially as bringing him back allows the option to Milsom to move into midfield (even though he's been very good at full-back so far).

Jon Stead is wank, by the way.

He was, though it went unnoticed cos Curle doesn't really publicise injuries. He came back for the Bristol Rovers game and while he hasn't featured since I'm glad he'll be staying.

That'll be the Nicky Bailey that has been a multiple winner of player of the year awards at a higher level and was also in the League One team of the year previously. He was far too good for this level when he was with us and but for injuries, he wouldn't be down here now.

Nicky Bailey will be class at this level. He's a c***, but he's very good at football.

He lasted long I see... :fl:

Calaum Jahraldo-Martin has signed on loan from Hull. Tricky winger who will no doubt solve all our fundamental defensive issues.

Don't be silly.
Not seen a player whip them in so consistently like him for a long time. Quote from the Notts County reporter: "Grainger has a left foot which could peel carrots."

Leigh Curtis has said that about Sean Newton and Alan Sheehan in the last year as well though, he just likes using the phrase. So much so I knew exactly which reporter you were referring to immediately.

Curtis also said that Oakes could peel an orange in his pocket or something (although I think he took that from Peter Jackson).

He was right on Newton in the Conference, though.
