Odd. We've already got Cooper and Kirk who can play out wide, possibly Ainley too. Then add in maybe adding Devitt and I'm not sure we even need another wide option. If this is true, good to see we are once again not learning our lesson and going after youngsters with no experience. I mean, that worked well with Park, Mesca, Wilson, Evans, King etc.

Ainley needs keeping in the centre just in front of the holding midfield where he's better in my opinion, absolutely wasted out wide. I think Davis just doesn't know Kirk's best position, he's been playing him all over the front three at times. However, we really need some more depth given Inman and Bakayogo (who for some reason was playing LW) are seemingly on their way out. I think four wingers in the squad is sufficient depth as it'll allow Ainley to establish himself centrally, so I'd be happy with Devitt and giving this young lad a chance.

I don't even rate Cooper anyway, he's been playing in his best position and delivering below-par perfomances on a consistent basis so anything is an upgrade right now, could also kick the lad back into shape. I wouldn't mind a loanee in if it meant we could get the experienced central midfielder we need.

This style of play had us heading for the Conference so the board sacked Barker with 7 games to go and Awford took over and we won 5 drew 2 and stayed up.
Being stuck in non league for 6 years i never really took a lot of notice of goings on in League 2, but were Pompey really close to being relegated to the Conference the year you speak about?
That is insane!

This was the table after Barker's last game for us a 3-0 defeat at Rochdale.

Looking at that table now and seeing Northampton below us, Bristol Rovers a point ahead and Wimbledon abit further up. Rovers have been busy 1 relegation and 2 promotions since.

Wow i never knew it had been that bad, i noticed you were in the play offs this year and just presumed you were always around the top since your drop to League 2.

the Tubbs figure was less than Wimbledon offered him so we haven't been spending big. should have a half decent kitty to dip into now someone competent enough to be trusted with it is in charge. need a real push this season. still think we need to Start at the back and sign a proven goalkeeper to really challenge though.

Josh Clarke, the FB/Winger we had on loan from Brentford might be on his way back to us. He's deleted all his Instagram photos and only left two pics, one of which was him in his spell with us.

Circumstantial, with a capital "C", but given that we've also apparently signed someone we can't name yet, and he's not publicly turned down the new contract he was offered by Brentford last month, there might be something in this.

Would be a great signing if true.

We're apparently looking at Billy Knott who was recently released by Bradford.

I dont buy it, I saw elsewhere that our signing who cannot be named is Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro but no idea if this is true either

Billy Knott was linked with top championship sides not too long ago, what happened to him?

Our rumour mill is so quiet, our main football forums most popular thread is about Brexit. Roll on July.

He's alright, not be a bad signing.

We could of triggered a clause in the contract to extend for another year, but instead we have offered him a new contract with what I can only assume is with reduced terms.

It would seem we didn't have an option on him according to Murray. Lambe is a decent player. There's some daft no brain cell Stags fans out there that will say he is shit but he pops up with some important goals. He always seems to do the difficult things well but then mess up a simple thing after.

Apparently BBCRC have unfollowed him now, deal off! :10:

Curle mentioned last week that we'd signed somebody but couldn't announce it yet, still not heard anything regarding this.

Lambe is a decent player, good on the ball with an eye for a decent pass. As mentioned just a few posts up, he scores some important goals too. We probably should've done more to keep him to be honest.

Devitt off to Portsmouth apparently. Shocking. Not. Davis and his media mates making a fuss about signing a half decent player, who was probably never really going to come, in order to make it look like we're some sort of ambitious (copyright Ryan Lowe) catch to players.

Same shit, different summer.

Pretty backpage spread for the Chronicle though.
