No, but he's someone I've kind of been hoping we'd try and bring in going off what I've heard about him and we do probably need another CB. I suspect Jolley would like someone who can fill in at full back too though.
He's on trial at Ipswich at the minute, although I don't think Lambert is too chuffed with his general fitness levels.

If you're playing 5-3-2/3-5-2, it kind of makes sense in that he is probably better in CM now so would give you cover/an extra option. But as said above you can surely get better and for cheaper too.

Gary Liddle is a good signing for Walsall. Good player at this level, good with the ball for a defender, not physically the strongest but has a football brain which gets him a long way.

One of the players I would have kept to be honest but I think he hit a patch of bad form at the wrong time when pressley had just arrived which resulted in his release.

So many decent if you can keep him fit signings this season.

Already got visions of the fans having the knives out for Wellens for signing a load of crocks if it goes badly.

Hopefully our treatment table won't be too busy this season because on paper we've made some very good signings.

That's what we needed, he will be a backup defender that can play in midfield, middle centre half and right centre half but most importantly he will be another experienced head which we have needed desperately.

We have Jake Gray (ex-Yeovil, Hartlepool and Luton) on trial tomorrow and Jonte Smith (ex-Crawley).

Gray actually played at Cheltenham in our relegation season - he only played 4 games though and it's hard to judge him alongside the shite we had in the team at the time.

We had Jonte Smith on trial last pre season - not much cop and he ended up with the Yellow Peril where I don’t think they had a good word to say about him either.

Offering to pay the bulk of his £9/10k a week wages.

He was 18 when you had him. Nine years ago...

I've watched him over the past 18 months and he's a good striker who has been unlucky with injury with us. Very good poacher, great first touch and link up play. In the right team i'd expect him to hit double figures in the Championship no problem.

Louis Moult is sheer class in terms of his ability, not to mention being the best professional you could ever see. I'd be surprised if he sold out for the Salford cash, he's far too good to drop to League One level let alone League Two.

I remember being ridiculed on the old non-league TFF for suggesting Louis Moult is absolute quality when he was on loan at Mansfield, he never did much due to a injury but it was obvious to see through my brilliant eyes.

Lang has been linked previously. Hopefully not reading too much into it and he'll be on his way here.

Catching up through this..

Lyden - would have liked him back here as on his day he’s more than capable at this level. As mentioned keeping him fit will be your issue - seems to be constantly injured.

Baxter - technically in the top 5 players in the league. Didn’t get the run of games last year and was a shadow of his previous self but I’m convinced there’s still a player in there.

Lang - I’d be gutted if he dropped down to this level and it wasn’t with us. He’s mint and definitely league 1 quality.

Meanwhile we’ve released our kits for sale online with the option of personalising. Includes 5 players we’ve not announced - Dylan Fage, Dominic McHale, Florian Gonzales, Chris Eagles and Tomas Egert.

We've finally signed striker Matty Stevens from Posh, didn't play much for them but did score a lot on loan at Kettering and Slough.

I don’t know why but I always had the feeling he’ll do well in L2. Maybe it’s the recent history of Posh producing decent strikers.

£25k seems a great price, too.

I highly doubt Peterborough accepted £25k?

Edit just seen the big bullshitter chairman post on Twitter, looked like it was a bit more with a big sell on fee.

Lloyd Isgrove supposedly offered terms. Hope he accepts. Clearly a classy player.

£25,001 it was then, just to keep his ego happy. Not bad given we got around 10 times that for Doidge.

I bet he managed to get another £10k on top and a ridiculous 50% sell on fee, to be fair.

You're probably right tbf, but even then it could turn out to be decent business I reckon. We needed a goalscorer and this lad seems to have the knack, given we've brought in around £350k in sales this summer I'd say it was worth the punt, even if he hasn't done much above Conference South.

Regards Jonte Smith. The lad scores bucket loads around national south level but every time he tries to step up he ends up as a bench warmer and league trophy starter. Imho there is definitely some potential there he just seems to be running out of time to fulfill it.

Yeah if he gets anything over 12+ goals for that price it’s a bargain.

Crawley have signed right back George Foster after a successful trial going back to Xmas!!!

I saw him play against Horsham where he was given the run around by a winger who will be playing in the Ryman premier this season. I could be wrong though.
