Theo Archibald has signed for us. I thought we'd already signed him. Maybe there's two of them.
With him being a sweaty sock is he anything to do with Steve of Tottenham and Aberdeen fame ?

Judging by Hurst's comments on the radio, Van Veen is on his way out. That would leave us with two senior strikers meaning we need to sign someone new.
Was that the thing with him, McCann and Jolley? The way he talked about him was very much how he talked about players like Scott Nielson, Aswad Thomas, etc during the end of their time at Blundell Park - people who he saw as bad apples. One of the best things about him is that he doesn't suffer fools gladly in the dressing room and anyone that sticks around will have a decent attitude.

George Maris signs a new 2 year deal after a summer away. He was hoping for a club closer to home and preferably in a higher league but it seems he didn't get any concrete offers.

Feel for him a bit as about this time last year he nearly got a move to the Championship but failed the medical. Hasn't been the same since.

On the day Hoolahan rejects us, Maris signs on which is fantastic news. In a poor season by his standards he still managed 7 goals from a more defensive role. If he can get back to his earlier form and play further forward now Brown has left, he should be getting 10-12 goals a season.

Also accepted less money to stay, he had two offers from league two clubs, one being Grimsby.

Of course the answer is no. That tweet suggests the lad has a choice between us and somewhere else. As we’re probably every footballers 92nd choice of league club, players will only come here if no one else wants them.
92nd's a bit extreme, are you suggesting that footballers would rather play for Macclesfield who even you think will finish below us and who haven't been paying player wages?

Oh really? He hasn't even been mentioned at our end? How do you know that?

Yeah it was that. Wouldn't suprise me if Van Veen had a bad attitude so makes sense to get rid.

I was told by someone who works at the club. I think you offered a deal to Brad Halliday too.

I thought they’d finish below us, but I revised that prediction a few weeks ago as I think their squad looks stronger (not that difficult). I now think we’ll finish 24th and break a football league (not including premier league) record for fewest points picked up in a season since it’s been 3 points for a win.

To answer that question, yes I think Macclesfield will be more appealing, for footballing and geographical reasons.

After they've been with us all pre-season, and some in the know knew they would be signing, Dylan Fage and Florian Gonzales' signings have been confirmed today. It's just weird. And probably bad. This season has the potential to be pathetic.

Ex Bradford (and our own U16s) Kielen Adams has also joined... I hope we do actually get the lad Tomas Egert, last at Burton, at least he is supposed to be alright. The vast majority of our signings? Who knows.

We missed out on David Wheeler who joined Wycombe.

Josh Coulson set sign a new 2 year contract extension though.

Hopefully the Oil McBurnie deal goes through quickly so we can get our £2m+ windfall. Then we will be able to sign the left winger and defensive mid which we desperately need. Although I'd expect the majority of that money to go back to our owner to repay him for the losses he covered last year.

This new situation at Oldham smacks of Vale 16/17 season. It looks a potential car crash

Said this before, their manager will go at Xmas and Peter Clarke will become manager or something!

Askey has confirmed tonight Dan Tricket-Smith will not likely feature and will be loaned out, however Connell Rawlinson who was transfer listed with Whitfield has impressed and will stay and feature unless he wants to leave.

Also Alex Hirst is being watched tonight playing for Bradford PA who we’ve had training with us and playing the odd friendly with a view to us signing and loaning back to them.

Peter Clarke was (allegedly) told to accept the offer to be new manager or he wouldn't be offered a new contract at the end of the season.

He didn't, and he wasn't. Now looks set to sign for Fleetwood.

If we do badly, I won't necessarily blame Banide, who hasn't been the one signing players.

Think it will be a season of turmoil with the fan led group taking over the ownership of the stadium. And the chairman not engaging with them I think it will be his last season as owner on field I’m not expecting anything the odd good result and plenty of hammerings along the way starting Saturday at forest green if we finish around mid table I will look on that as a bonus this season but I’m not holding my breath

Oli McBurnie Update:

SkySports now reporting that Swansea have agreed a deal with Sheff Utd. £17m rising to £20m with add-ons. Is he worth that? Probably not. Do I care? Not really.

We have received circa £600-£800k for McBurnie already, but with our lucrative 15% sell-on clause in place, we set to receive a very good financial windfall. After Swansea’s profit, we look set to receive £2.43m-£2.46m with potential for £450k in add-ons.

Fantastic ‘bit of business for us, which should allow us to strengthen further.

We have bid for an unknown striker. Clarke wants him and then our business will be done for the summer, unless Morgan Ferrier is moved on.

Seems the most likely candidate is Rory Gaffney, a little meh. But has potential.

Still woefully weak our squad with 3 days to go till the season.

We now have a starting 11 but really need at least 2 more better quality signings before saturday to fill some gaping holes. A forward and a defensive midfielder.

Keshi Anderson and Toumani Diagouraga are available.
