County just casually taking money club Bradfords best defender. How many Going For It™'s are we going to collect this season.
Yep added. 6 teams on the list now by my reckoning:

Chesterfield
Bradford
Carlisle
Vale
Notts
Gillingham

Gutted that Nevitt has gone to another League One club.
Poor Pize. Absolutely shell shocked from losing a playoff final to Crawley. Nobody make any sudden movements. If he awakes gently and doesn't quite realise he is still here we might be able to release him into the League Two wilderness without too much thrashing around and screaming.
Add Gillingham to the Going For It list? They've been on it for 18 months now.
Yep they are mainstays now and have been for multiple windows. Had a fairly okay few months at any club in the division? Get your CV off to Gillingham and double/triple your wages.

Probably quadruple to be honest, given Crewe pay their players in cornflakes (or a cheaper version).

Surprised Grimbo haven’t made any decent signings yet given all that cup cash which would confirm premier league football within 4 years. Where’s the money gone?

If we can hold on to our contracted players, add a decent keeper a couple of defenders and a centre midfielder, which is half a team to be fair, then yes, we are going for it. That's a lot that needs to go right without any bad luck with injuries and a manager who's been overall poor for us so far.

What makes you think we're going for it?

Wait till you see Harrison Neal. 23 year midfielder but runs like he’s in quicksand. I’d be amazed if there’s anyone slower.

Barrow fans will know what I mean.

You know when you have a bad dream and you want to run away from something and you can't move? That's what it's like.

I'm going to need to require evidence of your field research that concluded you to include us in this exalted list! Signing an aged Paddy Madden not allowed.

In all seriousness, I think we might regret not making our early business defensive ones

A strange and unlikely rumour doing the rounds. Jordan Rhodes seen at our ground. It's got to be bollocks but he would be a great signing at league 2 level.

Cup money used to bring in the likes of Rose, Vernam and a few duds and probably replace Hurst. Widely acknowledged that last season was a blip, still had a decent Jan window though. I think we'll be signing players nobody really expected us to be to be honest, we don't have the funds to be going around signing the best performing players from other sides in the division unfortunately.

Signing Sarcevic before the end of May is absolutely massive Going For It™ vibes in addition to some of you on here saying the shackles are off. Plus you fended off the mighty Carlisle to extend Walker's contract.

Already on a top tier L2 wage budget before coming up and you've got about 17 attacking midfielders and strikers and then went and signed Madden who is a top earner at this level. I'm a reasonable guy though so more than happy to put it out to the rest of the forum for debate but I'll be amazed if the result comes back as anything other than Going For It™.

What have Carlisle done to be put in the going for it™ category?

We’ve signed one player on a free transfer so far.

Going for it for us is not selling anyone really. The positions we need are the not particularly eye catching ones where we just need some functional, consistent players with League Two experience. Which is why I’m happy enough with Platt, he sounds like a pretty standard League Two centre back who can do the basics alright, which is basically what we spent the entire season without.

How do you know we will be weaker once the season kicks off after the summer recruitment.

I'm personally not bothered either way. He was a steady centre half for sure, but I'm sure we can recruit even better
We're weaker now was my point. Obviously see who his replacement is (hopefully not Byrne) but history tells you when our better players leave, their replacement is often a downgrade.

We now have one of the best keepers last season in league 2 and the best non league keeper from last season for a fiver.......doing the best business early doors “under the radar”

Smart signings from non-league didn't fare Crawley too badly.

Plenty of teams achieve Going For It™ without spending a penny on transfer fees. Hayden is a top earning CB at this level and Carver's rhetoric has undoubtedly been at play here.

Longy hurts though. I don't care about the rivalry - as we've discussed too many times - but he's League 1 standard and on leaving us should have done so to stay in League 1. I don't blame any player for taking the money, but I had a lot of love for Longy. His signed matchworn shirt is on my son's wall. He should have stayed and become a legend. Now, in a lot of fans' eyes, his legacy is tarnished.

I had wondered if we might have tried to make a move for Long - we need a right back and Cowley signed him for both Braintree and Lincoln I think.

He didn't get too much game time here in his two years, appeared in probably half of the games but quite a few as sub. Surprised Si Robin thought he was L1 standard, not because I think Si is being OTT but he never really showed any signs here of being anything other than a decent, no frills L2 RB.

He's not flashy by any stretch of the imagination, but he was crucial to our team in the last 3 seasons. The last two as captain.

He's not getting in the League 1 team of the year, but I've seen a lot worse League 1 right backs and wing backs. He was also more than competent at centre-back as well.

Even going to a decent League 2 team makes more sense than dropping to the Conference.

While Stanway is a good keeper he wasn't even a top 2 goalkeeper in the NLN last year

We appear to be getting linked more strongly with former Salford midfielder Elliot Watt as Stockport fans believe he's instead coming to us and not them.

Now he would be a quality signing with pedigree and his assists and set pieces would be a crucial asset for us to have at this level.

He first tried being a keeper at 19 and has only just turned 23 and he’s performance levels are insanely increasing yr on yr, he was one of the standout keepers last year....granted maybe not the best, but one of them.....but he’s natural skill is tier 1 level and is probably one of the biggest keeping prospects in league 2.

Plus you can’t give Carver any ground !!!
