From what I've seen of CMS, his game was mainly based on his superb instinct and intelligence rather than physicality, that sort of skills doesn't really leave a player, so he could more than likely still do a decent enough job in L2

I think Lincoln's manager's said that he's heard that Miller's joining us. He'd be best off coming here because we literally have no expectations for a right back so he's bound to be a success.

I have to admit to being very underwhelmed by Beardsley, however, we have to understand that we are a bottom bracket budget club, so we aren't fishing for the types of players that others in the division are.

It's a very long time since Chris Beardsley played for us, and he never impressed, but he has since gone on to have a decent lower league career.

Oliver isn't as bad as some Stags fans would lead you to believe, yet he's an oddity. He'll either turn up and be the busiest player on the park and perform like a lion. Or, he'll not turn up at all, be half-hearted and have the heart of a snail. A really strange player.

One thing regarding the Beardsley or Oliver debate is that both are targetmen who don't score enough goals, so perhaps both are a bit too meh.

I don't think anyone in the division will feel particularly threatened by either.

Not really, already got a better squad than last season. However i can see that we will be amongst the favourites to go down, but i think we will end up the leagues most youthful team that is full of players wanting to play well for each other and do well, not just being there to collect a large sum of money. So far we've assembled a team of young lads who have been used to playing football the right way, so not signing the average league two players that are used to lumping it might work in our favour, the new swansea of league two haha its exactly what they did when they were struggling. And its a similar structure to the days when we were last a team challenging at the top of the division... and that would of continued if it wasn't for the decade of Haslam.

If murray implements his way of passing attacking football with a hard working squad we will shock a few people. But its a big risk, Put it this way, for once stags fans are actually excited for a new season.

Most Lincoln fans on their forum seem to think he'd pretty comfortably make the step-up to League 2. Like I say, we don't expect much from right-backs given recent history, and with the amount of goals we've been conceding i'd be happy with a defensive minded full back. Apparently he's been speaking to that guy who went to you last season which I suppose is the only reason he'd stay in the Conference.

For Posh it was his pace and work rate that saw him bag plenty against cumbersome L1 back-lines, never really cut it in the Championship for us, and was the absolute antithesis of what our style of play requires up front (Murray, Ulloa, Barnes..) - which is why it'll go down as one of our most baffling signings ever given the substantial fee we paid.

Obviously not as quick these days but still should score a reasonable number in this division. Hope he can revive his career and have a few successful seasons to bow out with as he's a really decent, down to earth bloke who always gives it everything. The painful four years at Albion should never really have happened.

I'm surprised to see Chris Beardsley end up at another football league club, thought he was likely to drop back into the Conference. During his first spell Beardsley was like a Netto version of Craig Mackail-Smith, he was a pain for opposition defenders, would work himself into the ground even if he didn't contribute too many goals.

Due to the injury problems most of our strikers sustained last season he probably ended up playing in more matches than both Westley and he expected. Towards the end of the season and certainly towards the ends of matches he looked pretty fatigued and it definitely effected his game.

Good luck to him though, hope he proves me wrong and he does well for Mansfield.

Was the victim of GBH when he played for us after Jamie Stewart elbowed him in the face fracturing his jaw in two places. One returned from injury he never really played for us again.

Although typically he scored his only for Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup against us

When he briefly played for us Beardsley held the ball up well, was strong, but was pretty slow and always had his knee strapped up. I was amazed he went on to play so many games for Stevenage. He's now into the veteran stage. Mind you Mansfield seem to like immobile lumps up front (Rhead) so maybe he'll fit in.

Beardsley is a hard worker and at time put in a shift for us, but isn't a goalscorer really. As I've said for a couple of strikers this season, if Mansfield can get Green fit and scoring then they've got some decent 'surrounding' forward players who can help him.

He was ok in his loan spell with us, but I think that can be credited to him playing alongside a strong central defender in Ian Goodison/Ash Taylor. Do Morecambe have someone of that ilk? When Adams signed him, effectively as the lead central defender, he was poor, in particular letting the ball drop in dangerous positions, spurning chances to clear. Adams made some poor choices, but regularly playing Dugdale was one of his worst.

I think he'll be more of a backup, Edwards and Parrish will be our main central pairing if we are going to a solid back 4 rather than using wing-backs.

Dugdale is an incredibly strange player. But one things for certain, Micky Adams could never organise a defence anyway, his Port Vale sides rarely kept a clean sheet and his Tranmere sides went the same way too!

Dugdale alongside Dave Artell in our promotion season was outstanding, he scored goals, he defended well and he was a good presence to have. He was a decent squad player in League One as well though nothing more and we were right to get rid, though saying that I'd keep him over Jon fucking Guthrie.

I think he'll be good for Morecambe alongside someone of Peter Murphy's calibre who is a consistent CB for this division, Dugdale often struggled alongside Harry Davis (whose a pile of shite anyway) but alongside experienced pros like Artell and Mark Ellis he looked decent.
