I imagine he'll be a bench warmer and used as a plan B, Murray wanted him for his hold up play and goals aren't a primary target. Atleast we have Matt Green and Danny Rose. Bit like Chris Beardsley last year. A meh signing.

Mansfield sign Pat Hoban... oh dear
He's good enough for a team maybe challenging for play-offs in the conference... i don't think he will play much for you

He failed to score for you, didn't he?

We needed a 'Plan B' striker to compliment Rose, Green and Yussuf. Can't see him being first on the team sheet, but will provide another option.

We were due a signing yesterday but he pulled out of his medical to join a L2 Club today. A couple of people said it was Mansfield last night, so this probably confirms he was signing for us until last minute.

Unwhlemed is an understatement, however rose and green have the ability to be one of the better forward partnerships in the league, so hopefully a sub option

We're flogging one of our defenders for free, quite possibly to someone in this division. I hope it's George Ray or Harry Davis. It won't be Guthrie as we've just given him a new deal but if it's Nugent I'll be apoplectic with rage.

It'll definitely be Nugent.

Won't be Davis, obvs. Won't be Ray as the club will be delusional about his value, cos he's from the academy. Won't be Guthrie, he'll be on eBay in 12 months. Nugent fits the bill of being an outsider that Davis can use as scapegoat (brush over the 48th "disappointing signing"/"not lived up to what we expected").

Wouldn't be too arsed, I do actually think Davis is better than him, but how Ray can continue to steal a living, only Turton knows.

Be very interesting to see who it is. It's definitely not Guthrie because of the new contract that's for certain.

The Non-Academy scapegoat case is one thing and the thing I agree that will inevitably happen.

However, there are some long shots.

- Steve decides his little soldier is too good for League Two and has decided to give him a shot at a League One club who are mad enough to sign him.
- Unthinkably, the management have lost patience with Ray to the point that they've offered him to a L2/Conference club where he'll continue his decline to Cefn Druids on a free in a year's time.

Could see it being Ray but maybe that's my hopefulness coming before the eventual reality.

We've signed Andrew Fox from Peterborough. With Okimo released and Ogilvie returning to Spurs, a left back was needed, hopefully he's half decent.

I know how frustrating it is signing somebody only for some pillock to turn round and say 'he's shit' but Hoban was fucking garbage in the Conference. I was popping to the Non League forum to laugh at Lincoln for signing him but the fact he's signed for Mansfield is more a feeling of pure amazement.

Aye I remember people saying our Wrexham home game, one of the only games I managed to see last season, was his best performance for us. I'm still wondering now if I was at the right game because I thought he looked hopeless. He's a poor man's John Lewis.

You can laugh but then you'd realise you don't have Matt Green or Danny Rose.

Local journo has mentioned Ashley Chambers as possibly being our next signing. Liked the look of him a while back but no idea how he's done the past few years.

Wasn't great in a short loan spell for us last season. Kicking is generally poor however he made a couple of decent saves. Given the game time he could be a decent keeper.

Ashley Chambers will get the odd goal but don't expect him to be your main man. If he is, you're in trouble.

Rumours up here that we've had a bid accepted for Matt Green. The player is keen and a medical is booked in for early next week apparently.

Wouldn't mind if this is true, but I still our defence is in most need of strengthening so would rather we used the budget on that area.

You've got a good player there,if played left centre back.Good in the air & quick.
He was shoved to left back, which he isn't & all sorted to get another contract.
He had a mare at Plymouth & Hignett decided to get rid of him,bit of a knee jerk reaction if you ask me.

I would expect Bogle to be the main man next year, full of confidence towards end of last season.

I like the look of Bogle, score shedloads for Solihull and you took a chance on him. He could do what Matty Taylor did last season in his first league season, he certainly has the raw qualities.

Didn't sound like he had a great time of it in his previous couple of loans last season. Definitely a talented keeper in there somewhere though based on his brief appearances in our first team - hopefully he'll benefit from playing under someone he knows very well in Jones. (I realise he was probably quite familiar with some of the Plymouth staff as well, mind)
