He was decent for us. Should never have been sold by Russell Slade. I wouldn't want him now as his career has gone down the pan a bit since leaving. He had a few months with us when he looked like a top L2 player though.
Is that why he left ,cos he looked like a top lg 2 player ,not a grimsby player ,sorry SOC i couldnt resist

There were reports of him being a bit of a bad egg, but I never really saw that in his performances. Slade basically got rid of any creativity and attacking guile though and went for (shite past it clogger) grafters. Jones just didn't fit in with his plans. Why would Slade want/need a fairly intelligent and clinical AMC? He traditionally instrcusts his teams to bypass that entire area of the pitch. What the Sam Jones that we signed that looked decent needed was a manager that was backed by the rest of the squad and a long run of games. What he got was a Marcus Bignot catastrophe that still hasn't ever been explained and then fucking Slade. Bignot signed him but if we'd have got Jones in a transfer window or two earlier he would have been playing under Paul Hurst alongside the likes of Bogle, Kayden Jackson, Disley, etc. That could have been a really great environment for him to develop.

Just signed for Harrogate Town.
Assuming we weren't gonna give him the first team assurances he wanted. We have two better attacking mids already so makes sense.

Or the rumour was just made up and we never actually wanted him.

Genuinely getting a bit concerned for you lot. Could be in for a tough season next season.

We've clearly cut back and are going to need our promising young players to step up and replace all the experience we've lost. Hard to say how we'll do at this point. Might get easier to bring in more experience as we get nearer the season. Big test for Cooper.

Going to be a bit of an ask to get near last season's efforts, but at least we should make a profit again, which is a big thing imo.

New signing for us today is Emmanuel Osadebe. Can anyone tell me how bad he is please?
In fairness to him I don't think any Cambridge fan has actually seen enough of him to call him talentless. He hardly got a chance here under Derry, Dunne, or Calderwood. Perhaps not being played much by any of them says something about him.

He had some good moments at Gills but I believe his attitude cost him his place there.

Won't be making much profit if we get relegated back to non-league will we!

A distinct possibility, unless we get our ass into gear!

Came here for boring homeowner History teacher Stringy.

Stayed for the return of sexually frustrated angsty 2010 checkered shirt wearing Stringy.

Welcome back.

Well I don't mean to be funny but this TLC, he comes down here from his League 1 forum, his posts are never any longer than 20 words and he just rubs everyone up the wrong way while we're having a good time.

I wonder how would he feel if I went on his part of the forum and just followed him around making smart little comments about enjoying getting whipped every week in League One every time he said anything about a player!

Take a look back at your first contribution to this thread. There was a reasonable discussion about Adam Buxton's suitability for Morecambe, and you launched into a load of abuse about his size. I defended him based on his footballing ability.

There really are some utter berks among the Mansfield contingent on here.

Back to League One I go.......

Been told Lee Angol met with Ross Embleton today, if they decide he is a good fit and terms can be agreed I'd expect him to sign for us next week, ready for our first friendly at Harlow on Saturday.

Seems like a good player, but isn't consistent enough and may have one or two personal issues.
Turgott is off to Sweden apparently.
Angol would be lets say underwhelming.

Honestly mate it’s just a bit of fun; what’s the point otherwise?

Maynard?

Be a great signing that. I’m not too sure about Cook, though.

Bit of a non league journeyman who had a half decent - no more - season with Walsall.

As with all things, time will tell.

Abuse, please! He's a professional footballer not a random guy off the street. There's an expectation that professional footballers are in shape. I can't take the idea that he's 'the best footballer in a couple of years' seriously when it appears that he is unconditioned for the sport he is paid to play.

Maynard signing sealed with Carolyn following him on Instagram

Should do alright, strange career looking at him mind, last season was his first double figure scoring season in 10 years!

Our turn to speak to Danny Mayor today, think he'll be in league 1 next season myself but suppose we can talk to him for nothing.

33 in December as well - decent signing if true but I am not getting as excited compared to others.

Mayor doing a week's tour of the UK! Way too good for this league, he should sign for Ipswich or Tranmere.

Might as well sign for someone down here other than Tranmere, would get more money.

Definitely Ipswich though.

Yeah I agree to be fair, I’m not completely sold on either him or Cook to be honest.

Tranmere will come straight back down, would be better off signing for Bradford if he doesn't fancy a move down south to Ipswich.

We've got a few trialists:

1 is a 19 year old attacking midfielder who has played a lot of games at Non League.

3 are keepers vying to be back up to Scott Brown.

Apparently 1 is Leicester youngster Max Bramley and another is Darlington Keeper Jonny Maddison

We've signed Michael Fernandes, a 19-year-old wide forward from Farnborough.

The club is an absolute joke if we lose Digby to Stevenage.

Why don't we just come out and say we are aiming for relegation and going back to Non-league!!

It's a joke at present Vince seems to have abandoned the club!!
Don't be so doom laden, there is still a month of the transfer market left.
Mark Cooper has consistently improved the team at every opportunity.
Dale V is one of the smartest Chairmen in league. He does not interfere on the footballing side of his business.
Lots of outgoings - yes, but check them out and they're not all 1st teamers.
Brown to Huddersfield is obvious big loss but
Doidge to Hibs less so. FGR coped well during his absence at Bolton and he failed to achieved same level of greatness after return to TNL.
Digby was a 1st team regular until last couple of months. Latterly he warmed the subs bench for 90 minutes.
Gunning is a surprise release. Regular 1st teamer and captain but his rash tackle during play-off effectively lost FGR promotion.
