Suprised we have not gone in for him, We need cover at lwb for Gordon seconded with Politics long term injury.
Evatt turned the chance of re signing Joe Bunney down who was on trial.
Think he will bring a lwb in plus maybe Charlie Adam and one last signing up front who will in the same quality bracket as Doyle

Does anyone speak Mansfield and could translate?

I think it basically translates to “I didn’t realise Robbie Williams was such a genius! Designing the shirts to confuse the opposition with the hypnotic diamond which will surely be worth an extra 20 points to the Vale this season at home as hairy arsed League Two defenders stand around confused. Literally that shirt is a fabric version of Paul McKenna!”

Vale giving free food to the medics at UHNS too in thanks for what they're doing. Christ, can a football club be made an OBE?

Come on Maynard son. You know it makes sense.

The club has been amazing and mentioned in Parliament a few times in recent weeks over it. Pleasing after we’d had nearly all our bridges burnt under the last regime!

The story about the Hugill transfer to PNE which nearly fell though because Péter Ridsdale couldn’t cope with Norman and Micky Adams had to sort it and the 20% clause!

I'm with you on that. I liked him but he didn't do much other than score

Never understood that bizarre statement. Give me a striker that does nothing but score plenty of goals over a hardworking striker who struggles to get into double figures for the season, anyday

Haha! Ok, I'll be honest with you. The shirt doesn't look that bad with shorts and socks, ie the full kit.

New signing alert!

Carlisle have secured the services of Burnley's highly rated left back Anthony Glennon on a one year loan deal.

No I agree a goalscorer is great and I wouldn't trade him if a replacement didn't guarantee goals, but if I had a choice between Maynard who gets on the scoresheet or someone who puts themselves about a bit and gets on the scoresheet, I'd pick the latter. Following last season I think we need more presence, someone to set the tempo and intensity from the front that we were missing. I stand by my view that he's not what we need, but that's not to say I don't rate him. He is a very good goalscorer.

Alan Nixon reporting we are showing interest in Hallam Hope from Swindon. Know little of him other than he scored against us in our usual tonking at the County Ground last season.

He’s alright, not great but alright for this level. Frustrating at times and goes through spells where he loses all confidence and nothing goes for him, but he would probably get you 10 goals a season at least.

Cheers HG. Reading up on him have to admit he sounds on the face of it more like a typical John Askey signing than Maynard who allegedly was at the club today.

Also after Richie Bennett left we do need to get our former Carlisle quota back up.

I should add that he’s not a striker. He’s played plenty there but he’s much better and more confident out wide.

Hope is a weird one as he’s generally more wide but he isn’t going to displace Worrall or Amoo you’d think and we have plenty of cover with Browne too.

Can’t see us signing both him and Maynard

You’d say it’s highly unlikely we’d go for both and more a case of one of the other. Only feasible way could get both of them would be for someone to leave and the only candidate for that is Pope. Although I get the feeling he has tried Askeys patience with the whole Twitter thing I can’t see that happening until his contract is up.

Unless Amoo has improved about 300% since he was with us, Hope is a better player than David Amoo.

Depends on the day with Amoo, he can be unplayable... but like any L2 winger is inconsistent.

Yeah very odd that a lurking Colchester fan on your forum has started that rumour! If I saw him leaving Ipswich then it would most likely be to the North West to a Blackpool or Fleetwood as he loves it up here. He has family down near Ipswich hence his current club but a Yorkshire move wouldn’t appear to make too much sense. Time will tell I suppose!

If location of family makes a difference then he will sign for Crawley as he was born just down the road from here.

Not that we could afford him or there are any rumours linking him with us.

If the money is there to get both he might move on Trickett-Smith, Hurst or someone like that to free up the over 21 place? I assume if they are loaned out you can bring one in their place.

We have four wingers and if Maynard did sign we’d have four strikers so not sure where he’d fit in... although we would have a lot of condensed games this season so who knows?!

If Maynard has been at Vale a couple of times this week already I assume though he is the main target and Hope is being pursued as an alternative if it falls through... although Askey did mention a couple of weeks ago about a player under contract that has become available didn’t he?

If this Glennon deal gets confirmed, I’m going straight to the predictions thread and announcing Carlisle United as 2021 League 2 champions.

Watching Alphonso Davies for Bayern tonight and seeing the effect he had on the game, for us to get an even better version of him would be phenomenal.

Believe we are going to sign Jordan Green a winger on loan from Barnsley. Worked with Molesley at Bournemouth Under 23s. Was on loan at Newport last season know nothing else about him. More interesting is that we’re looking to sign players it must mean the hmrc debt is paid if so

I think we signed Hope in a bit of a blind panic when both Doyle and Yates got recalled in January. Scored in both home games he started but never got a look in when they both returned. Be a sensible move for him I think.

Just been informed that our manager has never met or spoken to Filipe Morais. He is still under contract at Crawley for another season but it seems he is not around the club.

He did say he wanted to move back north to be near his family which makes me wonder if he is hanging around one of his old clubs, Bolton, Bradford or Oldham?

Casey

There was rumours end of last season that he was on the radar but he's never been in for a trial or at training, don't think he'd fit our system now.

Ben Chrisiene left us yesterday to join Aston Villa. Fee undisclosed but I would guess over £1m with a sell on attached and perhaps appearance fees too as they met our valuation.

At least it didn't go to tribunal like Chelsea forced us to do over Ampadu because they refused to give us an extra £1m to meet our valuation whilst they then continued to spend tens of millions elsewhere.

Couple of Vale fans on twitter reckon it's between us and them for Maynard but Vale's offer is much better. Its the first time his name has been mentioned with us so I'm not sure how legit this might be.
Have I missed something regarding Port Vale? New owners or something like that?
