I said previously the Vale /Mansfield thing I don't get. Possibly blew up more over the Maynard saga. Mansfield have been/ are a big player in this division but had a car crash last season.
The whole my dad's bigger than yours is played out all the time by not just Vale fans. It actually means fuck all. The present counts.
You could harp on about Brentford taking about 3000 to the Millennium when we won the Autoglass. I'd swap places with them right now !!
Wrexham, County, Stockport, York, Hartlepool all piss on the likes of Harrogate, Stevenage, Morecambe but deserve nothing because they are there for a reason.

Vale are entitled to piss all because with maybe 3 seasons exception we have been gash for 20 years.
That said I'm quietly optimistic we might do well .

*Some* of your fellow supporters do indeed have a absolute hard on for Mansfield, the Maynard thing made it just a bit more obvious I think, especially because it was rumoured we offered more, which let’s face it could be true or absolute bollocks, but either way resulted in some sly digs!

I’m optimistic for Vale, like I said I think they are one of the safest bets to do well this season.

Have Mansfield actually confirmed Maynard out of interest now? Would have thought they’d have done it by now unless someone else has now come in for him. If not and he’s trying to negotiate even more money it’s a dangerous game he’s playing I’d suggest in this climate.

I’m honestly not entirely sure if are still actively persisting in trying to sign him to be honest, like I said we are top heavy if we do. I’m not even sure if we made him a offer, I know at the very least we said that we are interested a few month back but at a reduced price.

The thing with wage ' rumours ' is that in the main they are false.
Most clubs could afford Maynard in reality, they would just have to juggle accordingly.

Instead of 4 players on 1500 a piece , Maynard gets 3 grand and the others get a grand. Simples .

Made our first signing with central defender Tommy Smith to replace Luke Prosser. Two years younger and has spent all of his career at higher levels than Prosser so, on paper at least, appears to be a decent upgrade.

Cracking signing that. I wonder if there are any other League 2 players that have played in a World Cup Finals

Furman is an interesting one if he’s anything like he was when he played for us and doncaster He will be a good player at this level but played last 5 seasons in South Africa Can’t see that being same standard As over here somehow will watch with interest
I honestly thought Furman was bang average for us, we were a far better team when he left and was replaced with Korey Smith who could play the ball forward.

No mate. I don't know how you can knock anyone who did something good . Perhaps that's why Holloway has turned into such a fucking pleb, must be the sea air.
I did it because I could afford to and I had an ex associate die of covid .
Glad you think people doing good is worth mocking

I take it with a pinch of a salt when a private organisation claims to have done anything good. You can guarantee there's someone in the boardroom thinking it's good for profit, and their behaviour is never consistent across other areas of their business. Not saying this is what's happened with Vale as it appears to be a good thing for the community, but in general corporate social responsibility my backside!

On an individual basis you can donate to something without telling everyone. I often see people making it about themselves (it seems they gain more gratification from Facebook likes than the good deed).

I am not aware of any Vale fans who have a hard on for Mansfield? We had our views on the "Antics" employed at VP last season but other than that its not a club we have any rivalry at all with.

Kgosi Ntlhe is the latest defender on trial for us - played in a training match for us yesterday.

Good or terrible?

Well if he gets more money at mansfield than vale can afford to pay ,all it proves is that mansfield will have utilized there budget differently to vales, remember we are all capped at 1.5 million ,its just how you spend it

No, because Mansfield were ahead of the game and spent stupid amounts on wages prior to the rule being implemented, so they can now splash out more on those few players they need to get in.

Somewhere in between. OK, generally, but occasionally caught out of position.

Edgar Davids? Chris Birchall (Vale player when he played in 2006 WC played for us also in L2), Dennis Lawrence I assume was in that team also who played for Wrexham in L2

To be fair I’ve just had a look at what GTFC Fish is posting and he’s lost the plot.

Are we sure he isn't reincarnated as the Bolton fan?

I didn't even realise he'd been banned. Seems to have been so since March.

Personally found him a decent poster and he also PM me with advice about where to park and stuff for an easy get away as i was dropping my lad off at Lincoln after the Grimsby Vale game.

As i haven't been on since March i don't know of another place. I'll stick on here.

That's a bit harsh Conks!

I agree with Darren, I think he was a decent poster but he made the mistake of mentioning the other place on here so he got himself banned. Personally, I think banning people for such a trivial thing is a bit much because everybody knows about the other forum by now, and everybody's free to make up their own mind like.

Myself, I post on the two forums. Of course I would only post on here if this place was always online but it isn't. Expect the forum to be down during the xmas hols and then again at the end of January.

Average really, not the worst LB you will find but get's caught out of position far too much.

I don’t agree with the ban or anything. I just had a quick glance at some of his posts, seem a bit OTT.

Lots of interest in our winger Abo Eisa from L1 clubs.

If he leaves and Van Veen is out for the first few months we could be really struggling.
