I don't think signing York City midfielders is the work of a top budget in this league somehow when you see Bradford, Mansfield, Salford inevitably flexing their guns plus I'm sure a fair few others.

But Stockport probably already have a way higher budget than those mentioned except Salford. FYI we’ve been rumoured to be after the lad from York since January, good chance you’ve beaten at least one of those teams for his signature if you do sign him.

Looks like the Callum Camps deal has fallen through.

No marquee signings for us yet this summer with two from the NL on frees and another two from non-league set to join.

John Brayford ended up signing a new two year deal at Burton, pretty sure we have tried and failed to sign him for three windows now

it's probably the usual nonsence rumour - but someone on our forum has said we're in for Eoghan O'Connell (Rochdale?)

I genuinely don't think we'll find someone who can run as much as he does and I wouldn't be surprised if he goes on to be one of the better CMs in the division, so I'm a bit more skeptical about him being that easy to replace (have seen a fair few people say this). I was prepared to lose him to a L1 club or maybe Bradford or something but not Northampton. That's come as a shock.

Our best player last season, and arguably has been since we rescued him from the wreck of the SS Bury. Out of contract, offered a new deal.

With respect to Barrow, I'd have thought he could get a L1 gig, or possibly Bradford/Stockport/Sal£ord...

Is he left or right-footed Fedora?

Good enough on the ball/enough pace to play as a wide CB in a three?

Looks like we’re signing Lewis from Torquay today but definitely still in the market for another CB or two.

He impressed me in both of our games against them. Based on what I saw he’d be some signing, he’d be your best player if you get him.

Genuinely shocked we haven’t signed anyone this week (yet).

Have also heard a rumour that we’re in for him. Would be a great signing for any League 2 club

Very happy with the Ben Fox signing. I know fans reviews are hardly the best barometer (Ricky Holmes and Liam Roberts very recent examples of fans not rating them and them being amazing for us) but Grimsby fans seem to have rated him. With McWilliams possibly going we need someone who can break up the play and be a midfield engine and he seems to be very much in that mould, thought he was great in the playoff.

There was a strong rumour we were after John Mcatee, would have obviously preferred him but happy with Fox who we can hopefully develop further. Saw someone on the Grimsby forum suggest we are paying him 7.5k per week which is hilarious, he wont even be on half of that. 7.5k per month is more likely but we are according to someone in the recruitment team we had the 10th biggest budget last season. Surely no one is on that at this level (Matt Smith possibly biggest earner?).

Right footed. Best on right of two or centre of three.

While I'm thinking about it, is Sam Minihan still at County? Nine full seasons since he made his one FL appearance for us as a Youth Teamer...

McAtee? You got a spare 700k?

well a lot of rumours at our end that we have a reduce budget, - not that it's necessarily true. But I personally doubt we have the money to offer 'significantly better terms' (as hurst put it), to a player in what could be considered an unglamourous position. It's probably just the case that we offered a bit more, closer to home and hurst doesn't want anyone on his back that the club didn't offer a bit more to keep him.
I was reliably informed a couple of nights ago that Fox was our highest earner on 2.3k per week and I would expect that our offer to keep him would have been higher than that so for you to offer him more is gonna be a pretty tasty wage for League 2 I’d expect.
He goes with my best wishes though, part of a very special team last season and anybody from it who chooses to leave will all leave with huge thanks from me for helping get us back in the league.

The Scunny fans reviews when we signed McAtee make for hilarious reading knowing what we know now.

He is indeed. Got a year left on his two year contract.

Official Club legend with over 200 appearances and longest serving player alongside Ben Hinchliffe.

He’s back up to one of our best players in Macauley Southam Hales so doesn’t see as much game time as he used but never lets him down.

Chapman is a quality signing for Bradford. We were linked with him last week, was hoping there was something in it. Obviously not.

Extremely good signing for League 2. One of my favourite players to wear the Salop shirt in recent years. I don’t know what happened to him at Burton last season, but he was phenomenal for us!! The majority of our fanbase wanted us to re-sign him this summer but he had a big falling out with Steve Cotterill towards the end of his loan spell with us so unfortunately he was never going to return.

Definitely got your hands on an exciting player. Given the chance, he won’t hesitate to run at defenders and he’ll shoot on sight at any given opportunity which can be frustrating at times, but is fairly accurate and scored a couple of screamers for us (notable one away at Swindon). You’ll love him up at Valley Parade. HMS Bradford full sail ahead?

Very happy with the Chapman signing, as above the positive comments from former clubs is always a good barometer to gauge if they’re half decent and only read good things so far from a few sides.

i;m guessing his signing is why they didn't try harder to keep Vernam?

Vernam who? Haha, I’m not sure, Vernam was great under Hughes, we all wanted him to stay and we offered him a decent deal according to the club but news of Chapman has softened the blow massively.
