Troy Archibald-Henville has turned down an offer from an SPL club. Apparently the offer was to take over his contract which as far as I know is a regular contract, the whole reason he signed for us in the first place was that we'd offered him a proper contract rather than pay as you play or non-contract terms. I'd have assumed that anyone wanting to sign him would have had to make a transfer request to us but apparently not, no money was offered to us apparently.

In any case Keith Curle decided the best thing to do was rather than keep this secret from Troy and risk the club approaching him directly, let him know that there'd been interest but we didn't want him to leave, and Troy said he didn't want to leave either so well done that man.

Amazed Skarz has dropped back down to this level. Quality player, really solid defensively and good going forward. Integral part of the promotion-winning side last year and looked very comfortable in the Championship but our manager has since lost the plot and turned into a fucking idiot. You now have 2 good ex-defenders of ours along with the legend Johnny Mullins.

Joe Skarz signed from Rotherham on a free, has started 17 games in the Championship this season so hopefully will do well at League 2.

Also gone up twice before so has plenty of experience.

Going by what some have said, really pleased with the signing of Skarz.

We've also had a bit accepted for Tyrone Barnett. Less excited by this but shows a bit of intent I guess? Doubt he'll join though as many others interested apparently.

That surely can't be true?! He's not worth near that, and even if he was it would be mental for a League Two club to be paying out that kind of fee.

Tom Newey (until end of season) and Ricky Holmes (2.5 years) signed today.

Newey will be cover for Horwood, Holmes seems (on his performances so far) a cracking signing.

Barnet supporting mate blamed their relegation on Holmes being out injured. He was a popular player at Underhill and how can Holmes be such a bad player if he was Pompey's player of the year!

Holmes was poor for us this season but half of that is probably down to falling out with a manager who is likely to get the boot soon.

To let him go for nothing and strengthen another team in this division is a baffling decision.

Liam Sercombe to Pompey is the rumour doing the rounds down here and in Exeter.

Opinions, Exeter fans? He has looked good whenever he has played against us but given that Grimes has recently gone for £1.75m was it? I can't see Exeter under any pressure to sell him and even so, we wouldn't be able to afford him anyway.

As far as I am concerned with the exception of Chesterfield away last season Holmes has been a poor player since we signed him. He would more often than not run down the wing with his arms out like a little girl, into a dead end try to cut back and then lose the ball, never rated him and I am glad to be rid of him, if he does well for you good for him and even better for you. As we have seen with Hollands though a player on loan playing for their future generally does tend to do well then for whatever reason turn into crap players once signed on a permanent deal.
