Decent result for us in a competition we have rarely done well in.

2 games and 2 clean sheets. Never thought I'd say that under Page.

Lost 3-1 at Carlisle in extra time.

This calls for a "not bothered, we can concentrate on the league now" post.

Dack class again.

Shhhh! Remember the party line, Dack isn't very good and under no circumstances should anyone consider signing him, it would be a total waste of money. ;)

Just back so can comment properly. Buzzing after that. Crewe fans were ripping us because we were excited by the quality of performance against them Saturday but this was as good a Vale performance as I've seen in a long time. Controlled the game from start to the finish bar a late flurry as Burnley tried to rescue it in injury time.

The defence was solid and our keeper didn't have a save to make against A full strength Burnley side and we look ten times the defence we had last year, even when Streete went on Inniss slotted in easily.

Grant is the break up man we have been crying out for, won everything tonight and can actually pass unlike Griffith, Andoh started and could be a star at this level, he looked quality when he came on for his debut at Crewe and ran Darwikwa ragged, a player that's generally enjoyed playing against us in the past. The most pleasing aspect was the football, we played some very good stuff and it's refreshing to see what Page and Bodin are doing rather than the lumpball to Pope of previous years.

We still lack a striker and Page doesn't seem to want to throw Hooper in yet but I'd love to see us get a good draw and hopefully the money to buy a proven scorer in.

Early days, but we look head and shoulders above last season. Can't believe Crewe released Anthony Grant.

How is Purkiss looking so far?

I think Ben purkiss looks a real player. Composed, strong, good in the air. Why on earth have Walsall let him go? Yates might as well give up now.

Ben Purkiss reminds me of Simon Mills.Never seems to get fazed and has a tremendous positional sense and his ability to read the game has all the hall marks of Simon Mills.Hope he can sustain this form.

Purkiss was MotM - a second quality performance from him, and defensively as a whole we were very good again across the whole back four and Grant in front of them.

I thought Purkiss was MoM tonight, absolute quality in everything he did.

my last game was the home defeat by Swindon..... What can I say..... The only resemblance between that team and tonight's was the shirt sponsor.....! Really impressed with what Rob Page and Smurf have managed to achieve, Purkiss looks a class act and the young lad Andoh was tearing them apart down left, we looked comfortable against a strong Burnley side.

Purkiss and Andoh were my MOM and would go as far to say he seems a better player than Marshall

special mention to Purkiss both going forward and the partnership with Moore who we all know is class but some of those tackles were outstanding.

Yep, solid defender and good bloke.

Just lacks pace and can get skinned if he doesn't have support, so get worried if you begin to get stretched or counter attacked. Otherwise he will be rock solid.

Just realized I posted this in the wrong thread earlier.

Really disappointing to lose tonight as we played quite well. I would say we edged the game overall but we were punished for not taking our chances. The penalties is a lottery of course and we were punished for skying two of ours.

Congrats on your win, Barnsley.

Two good teams on display tonight, was impressed with both sides. Coventry look a different team to last season, and at times we played football which looked a gear up from that we were playing last season. Second half was a bit of a struggle for us though, maybe more to Coventrys credit though. Good win, happy to progress. Onto Blackpool away on Sat.

Just got in for the game, really enjoyable and not too bothered that we aren't in the hat for the next round as a draw is a good result and pens aren't really much to judge a team on. Thought we were brilliant second half and could easily have won the game. Not sure Tudgay's third (second disallowed) goal was offside. Rochdale were as good a side as I was expecting. Very well drilled, played some nice stuff and also know how to defend. I imagine they'll be right up there again this season and if we could repeat the result in the league in 6 weeks time I'd be very happy.

2-1 win at Plymouth. Very good game by all accounts, Dack class again.

The last 15 mins was good, the first 75 less so. Dack was class and took his goal very well

No complains from me, really enjoyable game and if anyone was there as a neutural they will have left entertained. Both teams played decent football, feel we definitely got our moneys worth. Think first half if we had taken our chances it could have been over, the same way it could have been over at full time if Coventry had taken theirs too.

Better team by all accounts, conceded in injury time. Happy I didn't go. Out the league cup - 0 shits given.

Very disappointed with our result last night and it showed just how poor our squad is overall. It's not even just a lack of squad depth because we had Banks, Gardner and Armand all starting who have never been close to League 1 standard players. Worrying times.

Williamson to come off the bench in the 89th minute and score a stoppage time hat trick.

Did any Millwall fans on here watch the game yesterday?
Was that your strongest team?

The worst thing to come out of last night for us was Sam Walker doing his knee in and looking set to miss the rest of the season.

Close to it. I heard we were terrible but improved a lot once Cowan-Hall and Gregory came on. Our fans were very impressed with Akinde and your number 12. Sounds like you'll do very well this season if that performance was any indicator.

has there been a reason yet?
Pretty sure Mowbray says he was told that Thomas (the lad the ball was played into was offside, but he doesn't look it in that when the ball is kicked.
Not actually sure, was the one who headed it offside?
Pretty sure it's your centre back who heads it away and I don't even think Thomas is offside, especially not when the ball is kicked. Weird one but rather it cost us this than any points.
